August was in the middle of the book titled "The fall of the Rai Empire" when he heard a knock on his door and his Uncle walked in. "August, we need meat for the winter. Can you go get some? Here's some silver coins." His Uncle said. "Sure Uncle! I will go in a minute." August replied taking the coins from his hand. "Thank you, August" His Uncle said as he walked out and closed the door behind him. August stood up from his chair and put the book back on his shelf, His Uncle only owned 2 books because they were so expensive. The other book was called "The Age of Magic" which he was not allowed to read for some reason. When he asked his uncle if he could read it, he would always say no with no explanation as to why not. After some preparations August walked out of the house with the bag of coins and his knife.
He always got strange looks from the other people in the town when he went outside because of his different appearance from them. August stood at 5'10 with a handsome face and exceptionally light blond hair that almost bordered on white and blue eyes that differed greatly from everyone else in Village. Most people in Varca village had brown hair and eyes so he could tell his parents were not from here. No one knows who his parents were not even his Uncle. His Uncle and him are not related at all by blood at all. One day almost 15 years ago his Uncle found him crying in front of his door. He decided to take August in after that day. His name was already on the cradle he was in, so his uncle didn't name him. "August" was an exceedingly rare name in Kingdom of Roan. The Kingdom of Roan is one of the many Kingdoms on the continent. There is even a growing empire on the opposite side of Asgeta. Asgeta is the name of 1 of the 2 known continents in the world. After walking for 2 or 3 minutes he arrived at the Butchers shop. "What do you want kid?" The butcher said while cutting meat. "I want 3 packs of venison." He replied. The butcher turned around and walked in a back room that smelled of blood. After only a couple minutes he walked out holding 3 packs full of meat. "Its 12 silver coins kid." He said while handing the meat over to him. August pulled out his coin pouch and handed 12 pieces of silver over to the butcher. August walked out of shop while slinging the meat over his shoulder and walked back to his house. He opened the door and could see his uncle sitting on a bench eating bread. "Did you get the meat?" he said without looking back at him. "Yeah, I got 3 packs of venison" he said while storing the meat, so it does not rot. "Good" His uncle replied briefly. After August put the meat down, he told his uncle that he was going on a walk through the woods and headed towards the gate.
The village August lived in was small, but it was big enough that it had a wall and gate so the people who lived there needed to go through the gate to get out. Luckily, the guards were usually nice guys, so they never caused any trouble unlike in some of the bigger cities August heard about. He got through the gate with no trouble after talking with the guards for a moment. He decided to go on a walk through the forest. Around the village was a large forest that spread out for about 70 miles so many people had gotten lost only to be found days later. August had never gotten lost in his almost 15 years of life so he was confident he would be able to find his way back even in the dark. He was walking along the path in the forest when he suddenly heard a loud boom in the distance. After contemplating it for a few seconds he decided that he would try to find out what caused the sound. He started to run towards the noise and continued to run for about 10 minutes before he could see a glimmer through the trees. August could feel an intense pressure but kept on walking forward. He struggled to walk for only a few seconds before he entered a small clearing and the pressure suddenly disappeared.
The first thing he noticed was a bluish-purple orb floating in the clearing. The rest of the clearing looked normal except the orb. August walked towards it and stopped when he was only a foot away. He studied for a while before reaching out and tapping it. Suddenly it turned into liquid and rapidly spread across his body until he covered all his skin. Searing pain engulfed August as the liquid orb sunk into his body and slowly disappeared into his skin. After what felt like years of torture and rolling on the ground the pain stopped.
