Ulf and his men arrived in the early morning of the next day, King Trahaearn's men did not attack, spit nor even shout in their direction, which he supposed was a way of saying they come in peace. Either way he could feel that something was going to happen, and it excited him to find out soon. They were brought to the throne room and came face to face with the king of Ceredigion, beside him was a young man who looked very much like the king himself. "That must be the kings heir." Sigurd whispered quietly so only Ulf could hear. Ulf smirked a little bit and mentally agreed with his friend. They were not given much information about the king or kingdom, but they were told he has an heir. "Croeso i'm teyrnas." Trahaearn shouted as he stood up. "His majesty says welcome to my kingdom." A guard standing next to him stated after. Ulf nodded a little and stopped in front of the royal family.
"Diolch i chi, eich uchelder." (Thank you, your highness.)Ulf replied causing not only the king to become wide eyed but everyone in the throne room. "You speak our language?" King Trahaearn asked, and he tried to study the men before him. "Yes, I know many languages. I assume you know the reason for our visit?" "Yes, I received the letter from your king a while ago. Please you must be tired and hungry after your journey here; we have rooms ready for you and your men as well as dinner shall be served soon." "You are too kind your majesty. We thank you." Ulf said as he bowed his head a little to show a sign of respect. He knew that the king and his people were afraid of him and his men, but that excited him. Ulf thrived on fear and the unknowing, it helped him with his battles and fights.
Once dinner was served Ulf and his men sat down first, followed by the king, queen, and their son which Ulf found out it was Brioc. However, something puzzled him to no end, it seemed that the royal family were a bit preoccupied and kept looking towards the doors. 'Were they going to ambush us? Have they planned an attack when we came for payment only?' Ulf wondered as he clenched his fists. "Úlfur, hvað er vandamálið?"(Ulf, what is the problem?)Sigurd whispered as he noticed that there was some tension coming from the royal family and his friend. "Tekurðu eftir því hvernig konungur og drottning haga sér?"(Do you notice how the king and queen behave?) Ulf replied as he continued to stare at the royal family. Sigurd then turned his attention to the king and queen and started to watch their actions very carefully.
Unbeknownst to the king and queen they did not notice nor feel the stares from the Vikings, all they could think of is if their daughter had listened to them about staying put in her chambers and how much longer would the Vikings be on their land. "So, Ulf is it? Why have you come here? I know my father wishes to know but it to cowardly to do so." "Brioc!" "Enough Alaw, he is right." Trahaearn cut into the fight between his wife and son. "Ah, yes apologies I almost forgot as to why we were here. I was sent here with a small crew to simply collect the debt you owe King Harald." Ulf stated plainly as he took another bite out of the food. "Of course," "And he wants 25,000 weight in gold and if you have no gold then silver will work as well." Ulf cut the king off as he then took a sip of his mead and smiled a bit seeing the surprised look on King Trahaearn's face.
