"Mary, go tell my daughter to come to the dining hall right away." "Yes your majesty." Mary bowed and left the room. "Ni allaf eich credu." (I cannot believe you). Alaw hissed at her husband. She did not care if the Vikings heard her nor knew what she said. "Fe wnes i'r hyn yr oeddwn i'n credu oedd orau." (I did what I believe was best) Trahaearn snapped back at his wife. "You will be quiet wife and accept it." He said though gritted teeth and went back to eating. Alaw looked down at her food, she could not believe that soon her daughter would have to marry one of these men and to leave their homeland. She knew that her daughter would not disagree with her father for it would be her duty to her country to protect the land in any way. She felt her husband grabbed her hand from underneath the table and brought it to his lips to place a chaste kiss upon her knuckles. "Fy nghariad, bydd popeth yn iawn." (everything will be fine.) Trahaearn whispered gently and kept holding her hand.
The doors of the dining hall opened and revealed the young princess Tegwen, she wore an emerald green dress, with a small circlet upon her head, everyone's eyes were on her as she gracefully walked towards her father. "My daughter, come sit I have news for you my dear." Trahaearn said as she stood next to him. When she sat down she looked to her right and locked onto dark eyes, she let out a small gasp without eve knowing it. These men did not look like the Vikings she has been told stories of, they did not have helmets with horns on top; they had teeth from what she could see of them, they did not eat like savages, they were good looking and handsome even. She did not realize she continued to stare at Ulf as if to study him, his long dark chocolate brown hair, the piercing gaze of his dark eyes and sharp jaw line to his broad strong shoulders. "Ulf, this is my daughter Tegwen, and my child this is Ulf the Merciless and great warrior." "It is a pleasure to meet you Ulf." "The pleasure is all mine princess." Ulf responded as he gave her a big toothy grin.
"Tegwen, Ulf and his men are here for an alliance per say. You and Ulf shall be married in 3 moons time along with the payment of gold and silver they requested." Trahaearn stated as he looked at his young daughter. "Yes of course father. It is my honor to fulfill my duties as princess of this kingdom." Tegwen replied with a small smile, although her smile did not reach her eyes, her father knew she would not object him either. Ulf looked at the young girl in confusion, he did not understand why she would agree to such a union, but then again he truly did not know her, but he decided once he saw the beautiful princess he would give her a chance in hopes she would do the same.
