At first, there was only darkness. An inky dark abyss, poised to swallow everything, holding me in its grip. Then, a voice in my ear, the gentle caress of a lover, wrapping around my chest. "My love... I am waiting... come back to me" And then there was nothing, except the Gate, the nine key-holes calling to me, absorbing me, eating my souls essence.
I opened my eyes slowly, my aura, an emerald green shade rippling off my body, as if to escape. I reeled it back in, sighing as the warmth of my bed left me, instead being replaced with the pure magic that I always have had. Well, at least that's all I've known anyways. I'm what's called a spirit, a mortal gifted by the otherworldly "gods" of this world with the gift of enormous magical prowess. My name is Koharu Tamashiru, or to the many people who want to kill me, The Gatekeeper. I dressed myself in my usual clothes: blue jeans, a light, stony grey button up shirt, and my black jacket. Walking down the stairs of the home of me and my sister, Kotori. I heard the shower running and chuckled with malice. I ran to the sink, filling a cup with ice cold water and some ice cubes from the freezer. Then I tiptoed to the bathroom, chuckling again. I opened the well-oiled door and stepped in, listening to the humming of my little sister, singing without a care in the world, as I leaned up, pouring the contents of my cup on her, laughing uproariously and running out of the bathroom as fast as I could as she screamed, at first in shock, and then in rage. I chuckled and walked into the kitchen, throwing the black apron from the counter on, and starting to make breakfast. I started to whistle a tune as I cooked, and time slipped by. A little later though, I heard the soft pitter patter of Kotori feet, as she plopped down on the couch, the remote clicking as she searched through the TV networks for something to watch. She stopped at the news station, scoffing slightly as she listened and watched, as I cooked us both omelets with rice and bacon and potatoe
"And in today's news, there have been more spatial quakes in the past six month
She coughed, looking at me frustratedly. I shrugged, and laughed as I finished cooking and plated, putting it on the table. I felt bad about destroying those buildings...but I was protecting someone. But....her face was...so blurry. Kotori got up, pulling the lollipop out of her mouth and putting it in a wrapper before coming and sitting at the table, frowning at me before laughin
"Oni-Chan, how many of these spatial quakes were you just messing around
I chuckled, sitting down as we both dug in. "Well.... I think about half of them. Maybe three quarters? The A.ST. are always up my ass about me being a spirit and all
She chuckled, finishing her meal in silence and standing up. "I'll see you later. Okay big bro
I nodded "Of course Kotori! Remember, Kendo club will only allow you there till eight. And I won't be home I don't think for a while. I have to go across town for work. Okay
She smiled and nodded, walking out the door, turning around to wave one last time before she left. I heard the door close, and I sighed, walking to the door. I pulled my helmet off the entryway hook, and my keys from my pocket, chuckling. I walked out the door into the sunny day, the clouds whipping by lazily. Whistling, I locked the door and turning towards my motorcycle, smirking as I got on, putting my key in the ignition and revving it up. I looked around, making sure no one was in the way as I pulled out of the driveway, and zoomed towards the school, whistling an undead lullab
After about 15 minutes, I wheeled into the school, the girls giving me the love-dove eyes. You see, I really could date anyone that I wished, but I just really couldn't do it. Its as if... I feel like someone is waiting for me. And I them. I just can't put the pieces together...but I know who might be able to. But that's just a feeling, or so I hoped. I set my bike up, chuckling as I adjusted the shoulder bag that was firmly attached to my person, and my jacket. As I was walking in, I heard the swish of something rushing behind, and I turned behind to see a black ponytail disappear into the corner of the lockers. I didn't think that it was such a big deal, so I shrugged and walked in, going straight for the class, chuckling as I hummed the tune from earlier. I sat down in my desk, pulling out my stationary kit out of my bag and a notebook, shoving my shoulder bag under the desk just so as to help people pass. I started to write down a poem, my pen scratching and scribbling the notebook. Soon enough, other students came into the room, chatting and having a good time. My only friend, Yuuki walked up to me, a mischievous grin on his fac
"Hey, what's up man?" He said, pulling his phone out of his pocket for a second to check somethin
"Not much man. Just the usual, you know.... Anime..." I said, turning awa
He laughed "Me too man. If only the girls knew that little Koharu watch
I kicked him slyly under the table, making him jump in surprise."What was that for man?! I thought we were good buddies?
I couldn't help but chuckle, the bell ringing louder than Yuuki's cursing, as he sat down right in front of me. The teacher walked in, clacking his papers against the podium before startin
"Okay class, before we go into our lecture today, I'd like to introduce the newest transfer student, everyone treat her with the utmost respect, okay
Everyone nodded, and the wanna be thugs spat on the ground. The teacher smiled, walking over to the classroom door, and in came a black haired girl, but she felt.... Wrong. As if something inside her had been corrupted. But even scarier... she was who I was looking for. Looks like my summons work
