Chapter 4 - Chapter Four- The Escape

Three days later-

"Kotori! Prepare everyone. I'm ready to begin the rescue op."

I touched the hidden earpiece. The mic was only static for a minute before her voice was heard. "Understood. Everyone prepare! We are going into enemy territory, so expect the unexpected! If Koharu gets hurt, I'll flat every one of you!!"

I smiled, touching my hand above my chest lightly, hope welling in my heart. "SHIN'NEN. MITSUKERU."

I took a deep breath, allowing violence into my heart as the gate opened. It always takes a toll, but for Hikari, I didn't care. I howled in raged, my body starting to change, becoming thinner, with every bone showing. My fingers became elongated, and sharpened, magical energy spewing out. My hair disappeared, a spiky crown ripping out, and a mask replacing my face. I blinked, and I felt the magical energy turn my eyes into emerald green glowing orbs, and a halberd appear on my back. I was ready.

I lifted my hand, smirking."SHIN'NEN."

I howled an unearthly howl, letting the world know my power, the spatial quake sounding in the background. A good cover, but inconsequential. I waved my hand once, feeling a drain of power. A gate formed soon after, and I waved my hand to unlock the Chains, another rip into the abyss, opening the thorny black steel doors and stepping into the emerald green portal.I blinked. I was in D.E.M's headquarters. I started to chuckle, a dark malice filling my heart. They would all burn for their sins. I allowed my aura to be released in waves, signaling that a spirit had gotten past their precious defenses. Several guards noticed me as I walked into the lobby, and I smirked, changing my aura into spears with half a thought.

"SHIN'NEN. SORUDOREIN"

The guards fell down, unconscious as their mana was being absorbed. Such a yummy little snack~. I stepped over them, and continued, my aura using the guard's mana to sustain itself. Almost enough. I need more. I want more. More guards ran towards me, but collapsed from the drainage of their mana. I laughed, a cold, cruel sound as I lifted both my arms in a gesture of welcome. And they thought I was weak. And they thought that they could contain me. I'll show them.

"ALRIGHT BITCHES! IF ANY OF YOU WANT TO LIVE THROUGH TODAY, I SUGGEST YOU LEAVE, BECAUSE SHITS ABOUT TO GET REAL."

I smirked, and roared my triumph, a loud screeching sound. "SHIN'NEN, SUMMON!"

A glowing green sigil appeared on the floor, as my spear slowly floated out of it, the chains on it clanking as it was summoned from the abyss.I smirked again, flipping the weapon a couple of times before looking around. An iron door greeted me, and I chuckled. Of course he would try the iron trick on me. Classic. I sliced through the door, the blade of my spear going through it as if it were butter. The door fell to the ground, as the room came to light. There she was, shackled to a chair, as a blonde wizard stood over her, a remote in her hand. She turned around to face me as I growled animalistically.

"Oh hello Gatekeeper. I'm Ellen, the strongest wizard in D.E.M. Are you prepared to die today?"

I chuckled menacingly. "I'm not sure Ms. Mathers. Am I?"

It was her turn to growl. "You traitor. I'll kill you. For him."

"I'd like to see you try. I'm here to rescue her. So get out of my way. You know the Gate Spear's ability and you know you can't fight it. So leave."

She started to laugh, a maniacal sound. "Will I though? I do believe you are mistaken. Are you ready for our little secret?"

I tilted my head, confused and scared. What was this secret? I got into my battle stance as Ellen clicked a button on the remote. Hikari started to scream, pain the only thing on her mind. I howled, falling to my knees. They were... trying to create a..... The ear piece started to create static again.

"Koh... they...crea....inverse..."

I took a deep breath. This was NOT going as planned. I let my spear fall to the ground, as it dissolved into fine ash, its unbridled power sent back into the void. Hikari stood up, the negative energy from the inversion radiating in large, uncontrolled waves. I took another deep breath, knowing what came next. I smiled at Hikari, holding my arms out. The spirit armor around me dissolved, and I become human again.

"Hey you... remember me? It's been a while hasn't it?"

She tilted her head, lifting her hand as a bolt of pure ice formed. She flicked it, and I yelped, the bolt piercing through flesh and bone, as my left arm became useless.

"Hikari...come back to me please. Remember."

Another bolt. This time, through my right leg. I fell to the ground, stunned. This...this is how my story would end. To die by my other half. She loomed over me as I moved to face her. I growled, pushing myself to my feet and stood straight, wrapping my arms around her, my breathing labored.

"I... love....you"

Her face was emotionless. Her hand started to move, and I closed my eyes, preparing for the end. A gentle hand caressed my face, and my chest jolted. I fell back, my body slamming onto the concrete. I put my hand on my chest, only to find a hole. My vision was fading, as I saw Hikari's inverse dissolve, replacing it with her normal clothing. I smiled faintly and lifted my hand towards her, my vision blurring and distorting.

"Live.... Fo...r....me...please."

I heard a scream, as my vision faded into darkness.

It is time. My brother come. Allow the Sephira Crystal to be repaired. Allow the chains of protection to be placed. But the balance must be restored. Yggdrasil, LYASHINO KIZUNA.
