Chapter 3 - Chapter Three: Images From the Past

I blinked once. Twice. Three times. Where was I? Abyss on my left, and my right. Am I dead? No. I can't be. A warm light started to shine, enveloping me in its warm, loving light. This place was unnatural, but the feeling was that of...belonging. Of home.

"Hello Koharu... do you remember me... I understand if you don't...it's been a while since we've seen each other."

I fell to my knees, tears streaking down my face. "I remember you.... my love. I'm so sorry...I fell. I failed you in every way imaginable."

I staggered to my feet, standing up. I moved towards her, inching closer and closer as she smiled, holding her arms out as to embrace me. Near to the end, I sprinted, running to her, and lifting her into a bear hug, spinning in wild circles, kissing her lips and cheek as we spun, the both of us laughing and crying

"I missed you.... Where are you? I'll come find you. I'll rip through every gods damned dimension to find you."

a cocky, semi-deep voice spoke, his words coming up in static. I howled, the Gate appearing behind me, as my aura exploded out of me, creating a geyser of energy. I smiled, my human body melting, as my true form was shown.

"ugghhhhhh"

I opened my eyes slowly. I wasn't dead, but death would sure as shit be better than the feeling of losing control. Kotori leaped up, tears of relief strewn across her face, and she crushed me in a tight embrace.

"B-b-big Broooo!" she said, bursting into tears of joy. "Never l-l-leave me Ag-g-gain!" She started to pelt me with small, harmless punches as she cried.

"Kotori... I found her. I found Hikari.... After all this time I found her"

She frowned, but hugged me and smiled. "I may not like her very much, but I'm very... very glad."

She hiccupped. "Do we know where she is per chance?"

I shook my head, grabbing, rubbing and twisting the silver ring on my finger, a subconscious action returning.

"No, but... when get better I have an idea of how I can find her. I think....I heard a voice while I was there. Something besides her. And....I know it. I must remember."

Kotori nodded, getting up and drying her eyes. "I'll let you heal. Let me know when you're out of the hos-"

I waved my hand, smiling as I stood up, barking in pain. "I... can be out now." Taking a deep breath, I unleashed soothing waves of my green aura.

"Hasami, second gate. Seal wound."

Kotori gasped as my aura shot around my body as if in a cyclone, my wounds and holes closing as I sighed in relief.

"I remember most of my past. The rest is still a blur. I can control my Gates now to an extent. I'm not in full control, but I'm almost there. You need not be afraid. I'm still me."

I raised my hand to prove a point, aura oozing out of me slowly, but Kotori shook her head, not wanting to know. "Let's just go home please."

I nodded as we walked out together, smiling. The future is rather bright now.

BUT YOUR POWER WILL BE MINE KOHARU. AND YOU WILL LEARN THE PATH UNTO DESPAIR.
