By the time the group had organized their things and made it out side, the sky was painted in dark and calming colors. The sun was at its limit for today, almost like the land itself was consuming the light. You weren't exactly the romantic type, but that view had an extra estrogen punch just waiting for your sight to wither. As if the ancestors themselves wanted to impress you, white fluff of clouds added to the spectral, the cool wind blowing off your hood. "Wow." You spoke out of mind, but a push to your back made you snap back into the harsh reality.
"We don't have time to stare at the sky all night, pupa." Vriska pursed as she passed and swung her hair to hit your face. You gave a threatening growl before perusing forward and holding back the urge to yank whatever nest she had on her head, at least for Sollux's sake. You keep having to remind yourself that this was suppose to be a quick deal, then you'd distance yourself from the other two's toxic existence. Well, only the hag in front of you that's acting like the founder of breathable air.
As the night began to settle in, so did the pace and length of the groups strides. Vriska had taken a longer and more tedious path through the outskirts of an untouched flatland. The humans didn't seem to like the appearance of the ghettos trolls lived in, but why so far away? You pushed through the tall, untended weeds that came close up to your mid-half, abandoned and forgotten this region was. You had absolutely no idea where anything was outside of the community, and this made you feel more unsafe than letting Vriska be the lead.
Your nerves were on standby as the silence was cut short by a loud airy noise, jumping when the blue bloods voice harshly whispered, "Down!"
The three of you dropped quick, the ground hitting your lower abdomen as an intense beam flashed over the grassy terraria, almost blinding you from getting a clear view of the thing. Your hands cupped your ears as the contraption whipped by, blowing the grass wildly just as it came. You knew exactly what that means, the group was close to it's destination.
Vriska finally gave order to move along, but you couldn't stop shaking because of the adrenaline coursing through your veins. "W-What the fuck was that!" You blurted aloud and pointed to the distance in exaggeration. You've never seen anything as frightening in your plain existence, especially a flying, metal chirp in the sky.
The blue-blood gave a sigh as she trudged on with her back turned. "Keep it down, pupa. It's just boarder control, they pass by every now and then to keep this part clear of scum like us."
You stopped for a second to think before feeling a bit uneducated with human concepts, "So... The flying chirp thing is looking for us?"
"That was a helicopter, not a fucking chirp-whatever you called it. I didn't know you were that bad with skinbags." She gave a laugh before stopping abruptly to a large looking fence, trailed with barbwire. You swallowed a bit of built up saliva, looking up and down the stretched fence. "Now, all we have to do is hop the fence and we'll be in."
Sollux eyed it with caution and stepped up to it with a hand ready to touch, "To think they would have at leatht a thecurity-"
"Stop!" Vriska quickly slapped his hand violently. "Are you stupid? Of course they would have something to keep us out! Touch that and you'll be dead in the matter of seconds."
"Oh..." Was all what came out of his mouth after contracting his arm back, probably shocked at the close encounter.
"What now? There's obviously a perimeter around what we need." You spoke up, keeping a close eye on the glowing city on the other side of the fence.
With a curve of her blue lips, she pulled out her phone and tapped the screen a few times. The strong light from the city had quickly dimmed into darkness in the matter of seconds, Sollux and you both having an expression of surprise and panic. "We have three minutes until the electric is on again." She fearlessly hooked her fingers onto the small diamond holes and elevated herself off the ground. Your friend quickly followed pursuit, grabbing onto the fence, but you hesitated in place.
'Fuck.' You thought to yourself, can you even climb that high? The bundles of nerves in your body lit a red flag once more, but there was no way you were bailing on them now. Your anxiety levels were suffocating, making your palms sweaty with humidity and stress. You could slip and fall, then what? Being the one to break a leg and be ditched to die wasn't how you wanted to go. How did you get dragged into this again?
"Yo! Come on already!" Sollux harshly whispered through the warm air with a smack back to reality.
The metal felt cold between your fingers, like a knife marking your demise. You lifted yourself up onto the structure with ease, thankful for being a bit underweight at the moment. The ground was slowly and steadily becoming distant as you climbed, you could feel the eyes of your comrades watching. You came to the most troubling and difficult part; barbwire. It wrapped in coils, resting atop the fence in a silent yet threatening way.
"Just jump the fence already!" You heard an impatient female say below, but you wouldn't dare look down.
The pressure of time running out had set your body on high alert as you shakily attempted a step, but the wire caught ahold of your pants. "Fuck." You blurted and tugged your leg free from the snare.
As your weight shifted from the force, you completely lost balance and gravity took it's downfall. You let out a cry as a desperate attempt to grab the fence failed, the sharp wire digging into your forearm without mercy. With a thud and a searing pain coursing through one side of your body and head, you clenched your arm tightly, not paying attention to the sparks that suddenly flicked to life beside you. The sky spun in a light circle as a figure stood above you.
"K.K! You okay?!" A frantic voice spoke as he pulled you by the hoodie and onto your feet, pushing him back a bit as a precaution. Your arm burned with pain, but you were too afraid to look at the damage or draw attention to yourself. "You're bleeding-"
"I'm f-fine... Lets just go." You mumbled and tried not to make eye contact because of embarrassment and fear.
A chuckle was heard from Vriska and you finally dared to look up. Her sapphire eyes gleamed in the darkness of the moonlight and the pride of her wicked smile ate at your self-conscious soul. You stared, wrapping your fingers tightly around the bloodied fabric of your hoodie. An unsettling nervousness filled you and the question was, does she know? You knew there was an alarming amount of blood coming from the wound. When you took a quick glance, it was unlikely to see anything through the black fabric, but with Vriska you were most likely fucked.
Nothing came after but a swift turn of her body, which surprised you the most. You pondered to yourself a bit as the group snuck down in silence, 'Is this one of her mind games?' No, it couldn't be. A Serket was the type of troll to act quick upon anything for a reward, and oh boy do you have some currency on you and your families heads. She would never turn down such an amazing offer to catch a mutant. It could be your mind playing tricks because of the paranoia and head trauma. You took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She didn't see, it was just your concussed head.
You had finally calmed yourself down enough to get a glimpse of human life. It wasn't really a clear view, but their hives were astonishingly huge. The place seemed to be an upgraded model of your ghetto, slick black pavement with no cracks or wrong turns, live trees and evenly trimmed grass that wrapped everywhere into roundabouts. There were too many hives to count that looked like they cost more than what you would earn a lifetime. You couldn't help but to feel like this heist is doing your kind a huge help, right?
"Over here." The blue blood lowly commanded, crouching behind the foliage of tall trees.
You copied her actions and peered across the trimmed landscape at a large building. "That's it, right?"
With a slight nod, Vriska slid the pack off her shoulders and rummaged through it in a hurried manner. Your attention averted back to the human facility. That one must have importance to them, the building standing out on the outskirts of the community with a circular structure to it. You wonder what might be inside of the target.
"Okay," Vriska piped in a quiet but audible tone, pushing a weird gadget into your hands, as well as Sollux's. You examined it closely before it was snagged out of your grasp quickly as it came. She fiddled with it some more before hooking it over your ear roughly and gave you a smug expression as your glare followed pursuit. "Pupa, those headsets are our life line of communication. Without these, this plan is basically a suicide mission. You're keeping watch as Sollux and I go do whatever the fuck he needs to get this done."
"We'll be infiltrating that building over there," Sollux nudged his head towards the circular structure, giving your back a slap. "And you just have to keep watch for anyone entering after uth, eathy and thafe."
A chill of nervousness creeped down your spine as you watched the two trolls make their way down the green slope, leaving you alone and defenseless. You gave a sigh and propped your back against a tree trunk, 'Why me?'
You thought about every possibility that could go wrong in this situation, leading to your death. As you relaxed your head on the bark, you winced when trying to lay your arm in your lap. "Shit..." You had almost forgot about that incident. With careful fingers, you peeled back the wet sleeve and reviled a few deep flesh wounds. The wire had left punctures and tears in your forearm, looking like a giant meow-beast had mauled it with its claws. Bright red blood was coated everywhere, slowly trailing down and dripping into the grass. Your stomach curled at the sight and to think of it, you were feeling a bit dizzy now. Lifting up the hoodie, you took the shirt underneath into your mouth and ripped a strip off with ease. You breathed out shakily as the arm was being wrapped, the pain making tears welt up in the corners of your eyes.
"Kankri's gunna cull me." You whispered beneath your breath, slipping the sleeve over the poorly wrapped wound.
"Pupa, I'm sure your brother won't cull you over masturbating. It's natural." A fuzzy voice interrupted through your ear, frightening you in the process.
"Wh-What?!" You exclaimed, peering from behind the bush to see no one in sight. Realization hit you as your hand tapped at the headphone set attached to your ear.
Light chucking filled your head from both trolls, "Are you done, K.K.?" Sollux's voice echoed through the static as you gave a growl of embarrassment. Even though you knew they couldn't see you, the thought of them even thinking you were touching yourself made your cheeks flush.
"You know what? Fuck you guys and your disgusting fantasies. I bet you loved the idea of hearing me exhaust pleasurable noises while slowly stroking my bulge in a high ecstasy of continuous strain and frustration until the quick climax of the filthy action!"
The laughter continued as Vriska cooed, "I know you're a little exasperated right now, but c'mon Pupa, get ba- wo-"
The static was overwhelming their voices now, cutting Vriska off and leaving you with an uneasy silence. "Hey, Vriska? Sollux? Can anyone hear me?" You spoke in a hurried whisper, unable to accept the fact that the life line had just been cut. A sinking feeling filled your senses as the world around you spun, sending your body onto the ground. Your fingers dug into the soil, pulling at the grassroots as you struggled to keep your vision steady through the bushes. You were losing too much blood.
You blinked a few times, trying to shake away the dreaded feeling and focused on the swerving building in front of you. The object blurred into a loud and violent explosion, the vibrations shaking the ground and catching you off guard. Screams and shrieks irrupted into the air, distantly away. "F-Fuck..." You sobbed out loud, struggling to apprehend the climatic conditions. You wanted to run, hide, or even go to the scene and search for them, but you couldn't move. Are they dead? Did something go wrong? Your eyes widened as the flames rose over the white structure, scorching and discoloring something so beautiful.
With the weakness of your body, you laid your head down on the nest of grass and fought against the unconsciousness seeping in. You didn't want to die here, you needed to make it home to your brother and father. To be safe and secure in the small hive, it sounds like paradise than the hell you're living in currently. You're painfully, slowly dying of blood loss and you can feel yourself slipping away finally. The fire seemed to only be growing, spreading across the human territory as your eyes are too tired to keep themselves up for longer. A shadow emerged from the flames, following another coming your way. You knew this was the end now, you'll be with your mother soon.
The struggle was finally stopped and you closed your eyes to wait for your destiny; death. The comfort of a reunion had placed your mind into acceptance as you felt yourself slip away into the unknown abyss.
