Chapter 4 - Learning about the Trip

"What? The whole class has to go live in the forest for two months?!" I yelled, scaring half of the student population around me. I took a closer look at the paper tacked to the board and gasped, it was true.

....

I sighed with relief, I wasn't going to have to deal with Kai for TWO MONTHS! I couldn't hold my excitement in, I jumped for joy and squealed with happiness. I was going to be with my best friend and not have to deal with a pervert and do whatever I wanted! Marshmallows by the fires, sneaking around at night to freak out the boys!

But, would Kai miss me?

I stopped, when did that pop into my head? Was I actually worried that Kai wouldn't be able to be with me? Wait, that sounds like I.... like him.

I freezed, liking Kai? That was gross to think about... Me? The drawing, reading, freak, with only one friend to talk to? Liking a grade A goofball with no real reason to try hard at anything?

Us? Me and Him? No, that can't be right!

I laughed and shook my head, walking over to classroom A-3 to see Alycia. I wanted to tell her the good news then take her out for a girl's night at the nocal club with some money to burn. I smiled the whole way there, I couldn't be more happy to be at school, for once.

"So, you heard about the trip into the mountains?" Someone asked from behind me. I turned and saw Kai standing there with a red and white jersey for the school's football team. He wore a bored expression and his normal messy hair. Kai stepped forward and looked me in the eyes, "Who are you paired with?"

"Um, Alycia my best friend," I said, jabbing a finger at his chest. "and not with you, freaking weirdo."

"I'm the weirdo?" Kai said, looking down at my finger placed in the crease of his black V neck. He delicately reached and held my hand. He looked at me and leaned in, giving a smile. "Aren't you the one that leaned over and passed out on my chest during a bus ride here?"

"You're STILL on that, Kai?!" I asked, rolling my eyes. It has been almost three weeks since that day and Kai had still brought it up every chance he got. Kai nodded and let go of my hand.

"Of course I am," He said, putting his hands in his pockets. "a girl decided to pass out on my chest and make me carry her all the way to the school entrance. And it was rather easy, thanks for not weighing a hundred pounds!"

"You're welcome, jerk," I said, pushing Kai way from me. I crossed my arms and and started walking way when Kai put a hand on my shoulder and turned me around. I looked up at him and sighed. "What?"

"Nothing, I just wanted to see your beautiful face before we leave next week," Kai said, letting me go and smiling sweetly. I scowled (and blushed), why does he always say stuff like that? Other than the fact that we are on a flirt war thing, he's always being so serious. Did he want a reaction out of me? We almost barely know each other!

Well, almost. I knew that his dad had died when Kai was around 8-years-old. His mother remarried to someone else and Kai didn't approve of it, so he's living in the schools' dorms on campus. Every now and then he'd visit his mother and see if she was okay, and left with a sour expression every time.

All of that had happened before he joined the basketball team and became the star player. Meanwhile, I had joined the Art Club and hung out in the extracurricular room so that I could go to college and get a masters degree in Visual Arts. But, my backup plan is to be an author, you know. Writing books for a living?

"You have a whole week to look at my weird face before the two classes go. So, stop being a drama queen and get to class!" I laughed, turning around and heading down to class A-3. Kai pulled me back and gave me a quick hug. "Kai, you're so emotional!"

"I know," Kai whispered, hugging me closer to his chest. What is wrong with him today? Is he high or something? I thought, glancing over at him. Kai normally would shoot some sexual joke my way and I'd do the same, but today he was acting strange.

Like something bad was happening to him.....

"Hey, Kai?" I asked, looking over at Kai.

"Hmm?" He opened one eye and looked over at me, still holding me in a hug. "What's up?"

"Did something happen to you?"

"Why? Did someone tell you something?" He asked, giving me a horrified look like someone stabbed him in the chest, letting me go and staring into my eyes.

"Tell me what?" I asked, confused. I crossed my arms and gave him a questioning look. "Is there something that I should know about?"

"Uh, no! Nothing at all! Um, see you in class," Kai stuttered, walking past me and into the class A-2. I stood there for a second then shook my head, nothing bad could happen to Kai. He was a smart-ass that could get out of any situation just by opening his mouth.

I opened the door to A-3 and looked around for Alycia, wanting to tell her about the news. I found her sitting in the corner of the classroom on her phone while the other students were buzzing about the upcoming trip. I rushed over and tapped on Alycia's shoulder.

"Hmm?" She mumbled, not looking up to see me. I grabbed both of her shoulders and shook her like crazy to get her attention. When she looked up at me she yelled, "WHAT?! Oh, it's just you, DarkAngel."

"Yep, did you hear about the trip?" I asked, sitting in the desk next to her a massaging my arms. "We are going to be sharing the same cabin, isn't that cool?"

"Yeah, it is, but, why would our parents be okay with this? We are going to be gone for two whole months! What's up with that?" Alycia, placed an elbow on her desk and gave me a confused look like I should be concerned about it too.

"My dad is going to think about this as an extended vaca with their significant other, I'll be fine," I said, popping my knuckles with a smile. I smiled and crossed my arms. "We are going to go into the woods and see magical sights like the mountains and trees over 500 feet tall!! It's going to be awesome!"

"Don't forget about the bad things too," Alycia said, showing me a piece of paper with a whole list on it. "We will have to worry about mosquitoes, bears, foxes, deer, wolves, and other random wildlife while we're out there. And, the worst part of all. We will have to bathe in a lake....like, natural water. Gaah, the boys will have to be doing the same thing! Probably in the same lake!!"

"Uh oh," I mumbled, staring at the paper in horror. "I forgot about the boys..."

Alycia and I both shuddered at the thought of the boys bathing in the same lake doing things only boys will do. And then an something popped into my head and I added something to Alycia's list.

"What are you doing?" She asked, watching me suspiciously.

"Boys, they might sneak into our cabin when we need to change to go swimming," I said, terrified. Alycia's' eyes went wide and gasped and shuddered.

"Crap," She said, wrapping her arms around herself. "This is going to be bad, isn't it?"

*************

I walked into the grocery store, looking for some things for my younger sister, Demon. It was her 12th birthday and she was very picky about what sweets she likes. I looked for the desert side of the huge store and tried to find the chocolate cupcakes.

"Where the hell are they?" I asked myself, looking around and getting worried. I know my little sister may sound like a spoiled brat, but it's really important for her. My dad makes a big deal out of our birthdays for some reason. Though, to me, it just means you're one year closer to death.

Dark, I know.

Anyways, I looked around and found some. They were the last batch and I snatched them up before anyone else could take them from me. I walked over to the check out line and bumped into someone. Kai.

"Hi?" Kai said, staring at me in shock. Then he looked around, "Are you with anyone?"

"No, I'm by myself today," I said, smiling and grabbing a bag of Reese's minis. Kai glanced down at the bag, "You're going to get fat if you don't watch what you eat."

"Shut up!"

He laughed and stole the candy away from me as soon as I was able to pay for it, "Hey, give that back, Kai!!"

"Nope, you need to watch your weight! You're going to get fat if you--," Kai hung the bag over his head, just out of my reach.

"--Don't watch what I eat. I jog and exercise all the time! How do you think I got here?!"

"You took a bus," Kai opened the bag and began to eat the candy inside.

"No! I walked all the way here! And today is my cheap day, so GIVE IT BACK!!!" I yelled, jumping to reach the bag. My fingers just brushed against the bottom when I noticed Kai staring down at something. "Let me have my cheap day, or I swear I'll- huh?"

"You're tits are going to pop if something bad happens," Kai bluntly stated, grabbing on of my boobs and squeezing it slightly with a smile. I blushed and covered my chest with my arms, looking around to see how many people noticed.

"Well, being a succubus isn't a walk in the park, Kai. If you knew that, you would be less rude about it," I growled, placing my hands on my hips and scowling. I furrowed my eyebrows and make a 'tsk' noise, "At least I don't smell like a wet dog whenever I get out of the shower!"

I heard someone laugh and saw another teen with brown-spiky hair shaking as he held it in. He quickly grabbed his things and left, running past me as he started to gasp for air. I glared back at Kai and immediately wanted to look away. Kai was smirking and blushing and making me want to punch him in the face.

"A wet dog, huh?" Kai asked, lowering the bag. He laughed and stepped closer, his nose an inch away from mine. "You want me to get wet, then?"

"N-No! That's not what I meant!!" I yelled, waving my arms in the air. I reached over and grabbed my candy out of Kai's hand. I ran out the door before any other parents started to think Kai and I were just having a cute couple argument. "See ya, sucker!!"

"Watch out!"

SLAM!!!

"Ow!!" Someone cried. I sat up and looked at who I bumped into. I shook my head, It couldn't be...

"Why did you do that?" Demon asked, rubbing her head, screwing up her long, fluffy brown hair. She looked at me with pretty, leaf green eyes and smiled. "Oh, it's just you, big sis!"

"S-Sis?"

I looked up and saw a tall guy standing behind me, his pitch-black hair hung over his eyes. He stared down at me with blood red irises, scaring the living shit out of me in a heartbeat. I shook my head and looked at him again, taking in every detail. His denim jacket and white shirt shadowed how fit he really was, and the tight black jeans showed that he could probably jump from building to building without a break, though they looked lean.

But, he looked like your average teenage boy. He must be a monster of some sort, but what kind? His human form was quite remarkable, like he took notes to see how well he could hide his abilities. Maybe he was a metahuman?

Who the hell is this guy?!

"Babe, is this something I should know about?" He asked someone. I shuddered, realizing that he wasn't talking to someone I didn't know, but someone I did know. Someone I grew up with...

"Demon, what's going on?" I asked, turning to look at my younger sister. She looked really guilty and red.

"Um, this is someone you don't know, either of you," Demon mumbled, standing up and picking up her grocery bags. She helped me up and walked over to the black haired boy, who was looking me over angrily. He must be some kind of snob to look at me like that.

"DarkAngel, this is my work-in-progress boyfriend, Aaron Koriaka-Futa," Demon said, wrapping her arms around Aaron's arm and snuggling up against him. Aaron smiled down at her sweetly and hugged her closer. He looked over at me again with the same look.

Is it just me, or does he seem..... devilish?

"Aaron is going to be the prince of Hell after he graduates, but he wants to be a writer. It's one of the many things I love about him!" Demon gushed, covering her blushing cheeks. Aaron scratched his neck and blushed too, looking over at the wall.

They kinda look like a new couple from an anime. Wait, Prince of Hell? What does that mean? Is my sister dating SATAN?!?!?!

"Who are these people, Angel?" Kai asked, stepping from behind the couple. He walked over to me and stared at them, looking them over like he was...

Checking for weaknesses....

"Kai, that's my little sister Demon Yushi, and her... Boyfriend, Aaron," I said, glancing at Aaron nervously. He looked like he was going to kill me if I tried anything. I averted my eyesight to my candy and sighed. I was bad at talking to new people again...

Well, I always was, but when I started to talk to Kai more often I thought my insecurities would go away. But now, I'm not so sure. The scary vibe I was getting off of Aaron made me want to run and hide behind Kai and stay there. I picked up a Reese's and wanted to punch Kai in the face, all the candy in the bag was covered....in....

.....saliva...

"Are. You, Kidding me?" I asked, pulling out the candy and showing it to Kai. "Did you try to throw up in this bag, or it just didn't happen and you decided to spit all over my food?"

"Oops, sorry. I'll buy you another bag to make up for it," Kai said, looking down at me with a smile. He patted my head and grabbed another bag to purchase. Kai glared at Aaron, whom returned the glare, and walked off to buy the candy.

"So, I'm not the only one getting the fever, am I?" Demon asked, walking over to me and nudging my arm. I blushed and started denying everything when Kai walked over and handed me my cheap day.

"Here you go, baby," Kai said, leaning over and kissing my cheek. I blushed and covered my face, avoiding my sister's dumb 'I told you so' look and started to eat the candy as I left the store.

"So, you have a little sister?" Kai asked, wrapping an arm around me. He sighed and blushed, "So many things we don't know about each other."

"Shut up, I need to go home," I said, turning to kiss Kai on the cheek. I leave Kai confused and run away, trying to not to think about what happened. I was in a daze when I got home, walking upstairs to my bedroom and laying face first on the mattress
