"And then we flip the fraction, turning it into an...." Mrs. Simms droned, pointing at the whiteboard. She was still going over material from last year, but, it was making the whole class act nice for once. No one was listening, but no one was really suffering from their grades.
I was mostly waiting for the bell to leave, and was happy to be doing so. I was supposed to be meeting up with Alycia at our favorite doughnut shop across the street. I beamed at the thought of eating a vanilla long john, swallowing it's white creamy goodness, licking up the remains because I hate using a napkin when I didn't need one.
That sounded kinda wrong...
The bell chimed and I ran for the door, with only one goal in mind. I ran down the stairs and bumped right into the person I didn't want to see.
Kai.
Again..
"Oh, hello, babe," Kai said, cheerily as if he didn't remember what had happened between us. Well, with the size of his brain being a grape, yeah, he probably did, I thought to myself.
I didn't even smile at Kai, I was in too much of a rage; the only thing keeping him safe was my rage, I was trying to hold back the foot that needed to be kicking his nuts, "Bye, Kai."
"Hey, wait," Kai said, grabbing my arm. I glared at him with as much venom as I could, snatching my hand away, I said with lots of hate, "Don't think you can do what you did and can get away with it. I don't want you to touch me ever again, got it? Never."
I started to walk away when Kai grabbed my arm again and spun me around to look at him. Kai's eyes showed nothing but confusion, "Don't you get it was just a joke? I kid around all the time, you should know this. We've known each other for a while, DarkAngel. C'mon, truce?"
I looked down at his hand, waiting for me to shake it. I glared back up at him again. I stepped forward and leveled my eyes with Kai's. I wanted to show him how much it hurt me, to make him feel the humiliation from his actions. I noticed Kai falter and he started looking sad.
And almost apologetic...
I narrowed my eyes and snarled, "This is far from over Kai Sorion. Far. From. Over."
"What are you saying, honey?" Kai sneered, a wicked smirk on his face as he glared down at me. He crossed his arms in front of his chest and the smile widened. "Is this going to be a battle of charm?"
"Yes," I declared, my nose close to his. Our breath mingled together in the air. "This is going to be a flirt war." I cross my arms too and send the same twisted smile Kai has back at him. "Hold onto your face, pretty boy."
"Oh, this is so on now," Kai barked a laugh, head cocked back and eyes screwed shut, mouth wide and smiling. He looked back at me and shook his head. "You ain't got a chance, baby."
He started to walk off, but I grabbed his arm and said, "It's between us, no one else is in this, got it?"
I tugged on his arm til he looked at me, anger seeping into his handsome features. I smiled happily, seeing him pissed was the best part! "We are going to be flirting toward each other until one of us breaks. Whenever that happens," I said, pulling Kai down to my eye level. "you'll be watching me win."
I let him go, again, and started to walk away, happy to feel this much power. It was almost addictive, seeing Kai get angry.
Kai started to follow me and then stopped me at me shoe locker. I pulled out my extra pair and groaned, Kai was still standing beside me, not leaving. "What?"
"I forgot to say something back there," A smile made its way on his face, making his eyes pop like running rivers. Kai wrapped his hand around my head and pulled me into a kiss. I tried to pull away, my cries muffled by Kai and his stupid lips.
When he let go, girls and boys were staring at us. I slapped Kai across his face, making sure to get the message through his tiny brain. He laughed and held his face in pain, "Yow, I should kiss you more. That slap really woke me up."
"Huh?" I mumbled, furrowing my brows.
Kai stared at me for a moment and smiled, "I guess you liked it, you're blushing like crazy."
"I am NOT!" I squealed, covering my face. I rushed past Kai and out the entrance, I glanced back and saw Kai waving smugly. I glared at him and yelled back, "THAT'S NOT GOING TO COUNT!!"
"Aw, come on! You're redder than a tomato! That HAS to count!!" Kai whined.
"La la la la la la LA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, not listening!" I cried, plugging my ears for effect and walked off to meet up with Alycia for our snack.
***********
"I swear, I would've slapped that bitch across his face too," Alycia muttered, eating another chocolate doughnut dot. She was fuming after I told her what happened, stuffing food in her mouth, stress eating. Alycia pointed her finger at me wagging it, "But you went and caused some trouble, a 'flirt battle?' What the hell were you thinking?"
"I don't know," I sighed, biting into my long john, though I didn't feel like eating it. I shook my head and sighed again. I've been sighing a lot lately, haven't I?
I split the check and walked home, saying goodbye to Alycia and waited for the bus. Trying to not doubt my idea in having a flirt off with Kai, which really was stupid. I groaned and tapped my head against the bus sign, I'm such a moron....
***********
Our lips fit perfectly together. I felt Kai smile, and press his lips against mine, begging me to do the same. I was holding his neck and he was holding my waist, making out with no cares.
I pulled away from Kai and looked into his eyes, "The moonlight is making your face look a little less terrible than normal," I teased.
"Oh, yeah?" Kai asked, leaning in for a kiss. He pulled my legs to rest on either side of him, I was sitting on his lap, the blades of soft grass ticking my shins. Kai looked from my eyes to my lips and back again. "Well, the moonlight is making your body look amazing right now."
"Shut up, Kai," I said, smacking his arm, blushing. "I know that's not true!"
"Really?" Kai asked. And then he pushed me down on the ground, my body splayed on the forest floor, open to Kai. I looked up at him and was confused.
Did I take this too far?
"Kai? You okay?" I asked. A silence followed as the both of us stared into each others' eyes. Kais' cheeks became red. He leaned in, his hair brushing my forehead, softly."Kai?"
"Shut up and kiss me," Kai ordered, smiling. He leaned in and our lips brushed against each other perfectly. We clashed together, wanting more than just one kiss. I could feel the pressure building on my mouth as Kai cocked his head to the left, fitting our lips like a puzzle.
***************
I opened my green eyes and hissed at the sunlight pouring from in my bedroom window. I laid on my bed and groaned, it was now Tuesday and shit was going to happen. I sighed and got up, thinking about my dream. It was sorta repeating itself now, but in different parts. I shook my head and walked over to my closet, tore open the doors and stared at my clothing.
I picked a loose long sleeve grey shirt, with a picture of Toothless on it, and yawned as I pulled on some black jeans. I rubbed my eyes some more and sighed, picking up my bag and trugging downstairs to say goodbye to my dad.
"See ya, Dad," I mumbled, walking past him and heading for the front door.
"Wait," He said, following me. I turned and looked up at him with tired eyes. My dad's eyes were hazel, unlike mine, peaking just under his messy brown bangs. He gave me a worried glance and smiled. "Is something wrong?"
"No, nothing is wrong, Dad. I'm fine," I smiled, scratching the back of my neck. I gave a nervous chuckle and stuffed my hands in my pockets.
"Well, I wouldn't be a good dad until I really find out what's bothering you," Dad placed a hand on my shoulder and started to look worried. "Did you lose your art book, Chelsea? Tell me."
"It's just schoolwork," I lied, giving my dad a quick hug. I look up at him and see that he's not really convinced, but lets me got with a pat on my head.
"Okay, but, stay safe for me, please?"
"Sure, Dad,"
We smiled at each other and then there was a knock at the door. My dad looked over at it and mumbled, "I'll get it," as he rushed over to open the door.
I decided to look in my bag to see if I left my art book in my room, knowing I wouldn't be able to get through the day without it. I glanced up and Dad swung the door opened and revealed Kai Sorion at my front door. He was wearing a black buttoned down shirt with dark jeans. His hair was normal, somehow brushed but looked messed up. He smiled at Dad, who was smiling back at him.
DAD! NOOO! DON'T BE FOOLED BY HIS CUTENESS!!!!
"Hello, sir," Kai said, shaking hands with my father. He gave the biggest smile and turned to me, walking over and giving me a hug because he knew I wouldn't hit him while my dad was looking. "Hey, cutie! How are you?"
"Um, fine," I mumbled, patting his back. I could tell Kai was trying to hold his laughter in.
"I missed you, babe!" Kai said, pulling away from me and looking into my eyes, romantically. I gave him a confused look, and he winked, making me blush- and want to punch him in the mouth. Kai turned to my dad, ignoring me and smiled. "Sir, do you mind if I walk your daughter to school? I don't want DarkAngel to get lost."
"But we take the--!" I started, but Kai placed his hand over my mouth and continued, "Is it okay?"
"Uh, sure," Dad said, nodding slowly.
Son of a--
"C'mon, doll face! Let's go!" Kai cheered, pulling my arm and dragging me outside. After tugging me over to the bus stop, I snatched my arm away from Kai and glared at him.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I whisper-shouted, trying to not attract a lot of attention from my dad. Kai smiled and patted my head, looking into my eyes like before and blush formed on his cheeks. I furrowed my eyebrows, "Why's your face all red, dude? Are you drunk or something?"
"Nah," Kai whispered, running his fingers through my hair, massaging my scalp. I could tell my face got red by Kai's expression. I wouldn't admit it to him, but I liked it when Kai rubbed my head. I closed my eyes and enjoyed it, Kai didn't object. "You like it when I rub your head, sweetheart?"
"N-No," I mumbled, opening an eye, glancing over at him. Kai was chuckling to himself, his face a light pink. He brushed some of his bangs out of his eyes and looked down at me. I sighed and opened my other eye, swiping his hand out of my hair. "Leave me alone, Kai."
"Hey, I didn't make a challenge against the hottest guy at school, did I?" Kai said, running a hand through his hair, giving me a seductive smile. He winked, causing me to blush, making him laugh. Kai patted my head as the bus drove up, "Whatever, just sit by me in the bus, okay?"
"Huh?"
Kai chuckled and grabbed my hand, pulling me onto the bus and into a seat besides him. I couldn't say anything, my mind was blank. I blinked a few times and then looked over at Kai, who was looking around the bus. I shrugged and decided to not argue with it. Nothing bad had happened yet and I was perfectly happy to sit on a bus besides someone.
Even if the guy sitting next to me was Kai.
"So, is that your girlfriend, or something, Kai?" A blonde guy asked, sitting in the bus seat in front of us. He was really cute with baby blue eyes, a tan, and a ear piercing. He had a winning smile on and normal buttoned down shirt with navy blue jeans. He looked over at me and smiled, "Is she?"
"Hm? Oh," Kai said, looking over at me like he forgot I was there. He smiled and looked over at the dude. "Uh, yeah, Jake. She's me girlfriend."
WHAT THE FUCK, KAI?!?!?
The guy, Jake, nodded as the smile dissipated from his face, "Oh, cool."
He looked me over and smiled again, "She be low-key thicc, too!"
I blushed and looked out the window, ignoring the premature boys around me. Kai and Jake started to laugh with the others, I sighed and rolled my eyes. And then someone's arm wrapped around me affectionately and pulled my closer to their body.
Looking over, I see Kai still talking to his friends but with his arm around me. I scowled and looked Kai over, which was a bad idea because, this happened:
"Kai, your girlfriend is checking you out," A browned haired guy said, pointing over at me. I blushed as Kai looked down at me with a sly smile. I gave him a desperate look and he got the message and nodded, turning back to his friends.
"Eh, that's normal. She checks me out 'cause she can't get over how sexy I am," Kai said, smiling and making it worse. My cheeks got even hotter than before and I covered my face, wanting the school ride to hurry up. I groaned in my head and calmed myself down, resisting the urge to punch Kai.
I elbowed Kai and heard him wince and smiled. Kai rubbed his injured side and glared at me, staring into my freaking soul. He began to talk to someone else but pulled me closer to him, my face mushed against his side. I could smell his musky odor, well, it didn't feel like an odor. Just a natural smell. I breathed in and realized he smelled kinda like coffee. Freshly made with whipped cream foaming on top.
But that might've been because I liked coffee or something?
Exahailing, I could feel my cheeks become less hot as I calmed down. I placed my hand on Kai's leg, rubbing it slowly. Kai glanced over at me then ignored me, talking to his friends. I smiled and closed my eyes and falling asleep, not realizing that I may have turned this into a really romantic moment.
