Cassidy's POV:
I sat back against my seat, my head back as I drove down that country road home. Feeling indifferent about Ryan. He's cute and all, and strong and lord those lips. I still can't believe he tried to kiss me, such an advantage taker. Only thing being not so sure I could have stopped if it wasn't for Beth and Shannon coming out.
His arms so strong and hands too, it was nice bein in them. I thought watching the road for deer but drifting to his eyes so glass blue. They were also grey sort of, kind of made me feel like melting into them. I still don't exactly know if I can trust him fully. Although he did sort of prove that he wasn't going to just jump me.
I turned the corner and drove down two more miles and the house yard light came into view. Turning the song on again that made me think of him, just the way he looked. I started singing to it again, he said I was amazing, I think he's still trying to blow smoke up my ass. Trying to get on my good side after almost running me over.
I pulled up the lane and got an eerie feeling, like I was being followed or watched. I noticed mom and dads truck missing, I stopped in my spot. Making sure my doors were locked. Dialled my moms cell and it started ringing, "hello honey," she answered.
"Hey mom, where are you guys," I asked
"Were at your aunts, I told you we were going over tonight, it's her and uncles anniversary" she answered.
"Oh right ya, I forgot," I said with a sigh.
"Are you ok," she asked.
"Um, ya I'm fine, wish them happy anniversary fer me, I'm gonna go ta bed now, I'm so tired," I said.
"Ok Hun, see ya tomorrow," she said.
"Ok, night mom," I said
"Good night honey, love you," she said.
"Love ya too mom," I replied.
I hung up an sat there, my mind running wild with thoughts, like thinking I saw something or, someOne, running threw the yard. I was freaked out, an I wasn't staying alone at home. I put my car in drive and took off back to town. Maybe Shannon was still at the bar or something, I dialled her number. She didn't pick up so I figured she must be in the loud bar.
I turned the music up loud, and sped for town, as lights turned on the road behind me. Paranoia set in as I turned the corner and they followed. Thoughts of it being Jake and he was coming to run me off the road. I stepped on the gas and sped towards the outskirts of town. Reaching them now I was sure it was someone following me because they sped up too.
I couldn't make it to the bar I thought, so I flew over the junction road and around the corner into the hotel parking lot. Pulling up to 305, hoping Ryan was still awake. I stopped in front leaving it running and jumped out. Ran to the door pounding, to my surprise it opened. He was standing there in nothing but a towel, I didn't care I was fucking scared.
Moving into him setting my face in his clean still almost wet chest. His arms came up around me and I seen head lights run across the wall. "Hey what's wrong," he asked.
"Huu, I think someone was following me," I blurted out.
"Ok, ok hey, breath, come in," he said.
"I need to shut my car off," I told him.
"Alright, you stand here and hold the door I'll get it," he said.
We switched places, I held the door as he walked out in his towel to shut off my car. He locked it and brought my phone with him. Stepping back in closing the door and locked it. "Yer shaking like a leaf," he said.
His hands running up my arms after setting my phone on the table by the door. He pulled me too him and I didn't even care at this point. I did not want to be alone. My arms ran around his middle, squeezing him tight. We stood for what felt like forever like this, my eyes were so heavy. He must have felt my knees starting to cave because he picked me up bridal style and crawled on the bed. Not letting me go, I felt so safe, warm and protected. Must have been feeling it greatly cause I fell asleep.
Ryan's POV:
I lay there with her in my arm, she's so peaceful. The silence of the morning creeping in threw the window making her blond hair shine golden. This crazy event of someone chasing her brought her to my bed last night an I haven't even kissed her yet. Laying here wishing I could wipe away all her hurt and pain. Her sad scared body relaxed completely beside me.
There was something about her that I just couldn't walk away from. I probably should have after she flipped out on me yesterday morning. But, I couldn't I was falling for her fast. The mystery around her and sadness in her eyes made me want to be with her more. I looked over at my phone that the alarm has not gone off on. Then I move back around her as she stretches and her hand lands on my abs.
I felt the need to protect her from the world and her ex. Feeling sad that she's gone threw something so traumatic that she's utterly scared. Her head lifts as my hand runs over her arm. "Mmm, huuu, mornin," she says groggy.
"Mornin," I reply.
"Uh crap what time is it," she asks.
"Relax it's only about 7," I answer.
"Huuuuuu," she breaths out.
She rolls over onto her back, my arm still under her. My arm started to tingle and go numb, but I didn't really care. I looked over at her and she looked like an angel. She looked over at me searching my face suddenly her hand came up. She touched the scar above my left eye. My eyes closed as her finger tips smoothed across it. "What's that from," she asked.
My eyes flicked open, looking at her as her fingers ran down my cheek. "Hm, that was from my brother, when I was 6, he uh, threw a hot wheels truck at me," I told her.
"Hmhm, didn't like ya much did he," she giggled.
"Ha, not really still don't, even though I don't see em," I said.
She rolled towards me and her fingers trailed over my chin. "What's this one," she asked.
"Hmm, there's a couple there, ones from falling off my dirt bike, another's from catchin a board in the chin, and a couple more from fights," I informed.
"A fighter huh, can't see that," she said with a grin.
"Hmhm,"I chuckled shaking my head.
"An this one," she touched one on the side of my jaw.
"Fight," I said.
She smiled and closed her lips in a smirk, "there's this one, it's from catching a bottle on my shoulder, trying to help a friend," I said.
I pointed to the bigger one on my shoulder. She moved her hand to it and ran her fingers across it. "An this one was from a crazy ex girlfriend, she decided it was a good idea to throw a knife at me," I stated.
"Oh, ouch," she said, running her fingers over it.
"Hm, ten stitches later ya it was sore," I said, as I dared to tuck her blond strands behind her ear.
"Mm, she got ya good," she said closing her eyes, and reopening them.
"How did I get you in my bed with out even kissin ya first," I asked.
She smirked a devilish grin, and leaned over. Closing the distance between our lips. She sucked in a breath closing her eyes. "Uhhhuu I should get to work," she said pulling away.
My eyes flew open to her face as a frown settled on her forehead. "Um, ya I," I started to say but stopped.
She sat up and got off the bed walking to the bathroom her breath just as rough as mine. She closed the door an I put my hands over my eyes running them up and threw my hair. "Huuuu fuck," I breathed out quietly.
Cassidy's POV:
I shut the door on the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Running my hands over my face and threw my hair. I let out a breath of air and tied my hair up into a messy ponytail.
Then I sat on the toilet, when finished I washed my hands. Running cold water over my face, I wasn't quite sure what to think of this guy. He made me feel safe but, giving into bad boys like him never got me very far. Boy would this make the town talk, not that I cared but still.
I moved to dry my face and noticed he had a toothbrush and tooth past. I paused thinking what would it hurt, I'm sure he don't have anything. I picked up the brush quickly putting toothpaste on and brushed my teeth. Part of the reason I didn't wanna kiss him, gross morning breath. Wait did I wanna kiss him in the first place, it was all rushing so fast.
I did like him though and I slept beside him last night. He was right to ask how he got me there with out even a kiss. I am so confused, this was not easy with Jake possibly chasing me. Then again this crazy guy just about ran me over an tried to pin it on me. I spit out the paste frothing in my mouth, rinsed the brush and put it back. Trying to be exact, not sure if it was in the right spot but oh well.
I opened the door to find him bent over with jeans and no shirt rummaging threw his suitcase. He stood up with one in his hand and turned around. The look on his face could kill Medusa an her snakes. His muscles so pronounced and hard, and I noticed a tattoo on his shoulder. A bull rider with initials, date numbers and in a rope type writing over top that said last ride. I frowned and walked over to him.
"What's this for, it's nice," I asked.
His eyes were cloudy when I looked up at them an I could tell it was hurtful. "It uh, its fer my dad, he uh, huuu, died on circuit," he said sadly.
"Oh, I'm sorry," I whispered.
"Hm," he said shrugging.
The air between us now thick with sadness and sorrow. I tried to think of a way to turn it around but it didn't work. He moved past me and pulled his shirt on, walking to the bathroom. "Hey, uh, do ya need a ride or," I asked.
Forgetting he was with a crew, a crew of loud mouth arrogant pigs. "Uhhhh, actually sure, if ya don't mind, I could ride with yuh to the diner and grab coffees the guys can pick me up there," he said.
"If ya don't mind," he added again.
"Naw, I don't mind," I said shaking my head with a smile.
"Ok, I'll be right out," he said, going into the bathroom shutting the door.
I sat down on the bed and took my pony tail out then leaned over on the bed. Dangling my hair down to try and make it a bit more presentable. Running my fingers threw it to untangle it. I didn't notice he had came out and was standing watching me. "I have a comb if, ya wanna use it," he said.
I peeked over at him and smirked, "I should be ok," I answered him tying my hair.
"Not like ya didn't find my toothbrush," he said, the smirk on his face gleamed and so did his eyes.
"Uhhhhhh, ha, sorry," I said blushing.
"Hmm, won't kiss me but ye'll use my toothbrush," he said.
"Morning breath not cool," I said a smirk running across my lips.
His smile got wider and I could have dropped to the floor. "It's not, but come on yer killing me here," he confessed.
"I am," I asked.
Trying to be innocent but I think I failed, he walked towards me. Setting his hands on either side of my arms where I was laying, he leaned down. Inches away from my lips, he licked them and got closer. I wasn't sure weather ta run and hide, let him kiss me or make a break fer my car. I figured the latter of the three was better.
"Uh, work," I said moving out from under him and his head dropped down eyes closed.
He shook his head, breathing out a small laugh. "Huu, yep killin me" he said.
I moved to the door opened it an stood in front of it holding it open. Slowly he stood up clapping his hands together before moving to the nightstand. He grabbed his wallet and then walked over to the door, slipping his boots on.
This man was bad, and his eyes were even worse haunting me in my dreams as I slept beside him. There blue icy glass reeked havoc on my nerves an hormones of my dreams. On top of that waking up to him this morning was worse. I needed distance from him if I was going to gain control again.
He stepped in front of me at the door, "thanks fer the night, it was, peaceful, an non screamy," he whispered.
My eyes snapped up to his, the teasing look on his face was murderous. "Well I, thank ya fer not being a pervert," I say mockingly.
His smile came back and his hands ran up the door closing the distance between us again. His eyes gleaming, and his breath hitched as he leaned in closer. "Yer breath smells amazing from my toothbrush and toothpaste," he cooed.
I smirked and moved under his arm and out to my car, stepping off the sidewalk, "y'all comin bad boy, or ya walkin," I said.
He closed his eyes and breathed out, shaking his head again. Turned grabbing his card putting it in his back pocket, letting the door close. He moved to the passenger door and opened it putting his foot on the edge to get in "ya know, one of these times, yer gonna give in," he said.
"Don't be so sure," I said and got in.
I turned the car on and turned up the music, it was hell on heals by Pistol Annies, Miranda Lambert's new trio of woman. Ryan got in and moved the seat back, I looked over at him and smirked. "Hm, thought I told ya not ta touch that," I said.
"That was last night, before I rescued you from a stalker," he said.
Alright I couldn't argue that one, he was gracious enough ta let me in. I smirked and put my sunglasses on then turned up the music as I backed up outta the spot I parked.
The ride to the cafe was quiet except for the pipes of the Pistol Annies. I loved there songs and Mirandas, they were empowering. We pulled up behind the cafe an I parked shutting off the car. I looked over at him texting, probably his crew member who was more than likely razzing him. I wondered what they'd say if I actually did kiss him in front of them.
Just to spite, think he'd be more wowed than they would be. None the less it'd be funny, just ta see there faces. "Huu well, see ya in there," I said opening my door.
"Ya," he said smirking again.
He got out and shut the door as I got out. Walking over to tha back door of the cafe, I frowned shutting my door locking my car. "Y'all can't come in tha back," I said.
Walking towards him but he smiled an bowed opening the door. He moved his hand like he was bowing to a princess, I couldn't help but chuckle. "Hm, thanks," I said and walked in.
He let the door go to shut and I watched him walk to the side of the building. I turned and grabbed an apron and walked to the kitchen to see my mom and Beth talkin. "Mornin mom, Beth," I said.
They stopped and looked over and as Beth looked me up and down noticing I'm still in the same cloths. I knew they were talking about me, and the fact I probably left with Ryan last night. I rolled my eyes at them and walked to the front to start early for once in my life instead of late. I was there an hour an fifteen minutes early in fact and Rose looked at me surprised.
She was our other waitress, "Mornin Rose," I said walking past her to make Ryan's coffees.
He hadn't came in yet, probably having a smoke I thought. Rose walked over to me "mornin, y'all look uh, well rested today," she said.
That's when I knew they'd all been talkin bout me. "I am thanks," I said too politely.
She gave me a look like I was dying, Rose an I didn't talk much, she was running competition for Clay the deputy sheriff. Although it was her thought, Clay didn't like her much. Not that I was really competition. It was then that I heard the laughing of men. I knew right away it was Ryan an his crew, lord help me.
I turned around as Rose's eyes widened and she walked fer the till. Moving to the counter with the coffees made Ryan smile at me. "It's on me today," I said as the other three walked up.
"Really," the one said with a grin.
"Well, thanks Ryan," he said taking his and giving him a look.
He rolled his eyes opening his lips and closing them again shaking his head. "I said it was on me, not Ryan," I said.
"Hmhm, I bet it was on Ryan last night," the guy said.
Ryan took a deep breath an looked at the ceiling as the guys all laughed. "Seen yer car in front of his room," the guy added with a piggish grin.
"ALLL right that's enough," Ryan said pushing him out of the way.
He grabbed his coffee, frowning, an I couldn't resist to further the punishment. "If it was he don't tip very well" I said.
The man that took his coffee first spit his swallow out all over the back of Ryan. Ryan's eyes grew as big as saucers an his mouth opened. "Well maybe if someone wasn't so stuck up an spoiled," he said.
"Oh hoooo," the guys cooed.
My smirk got wider, and that's when I lost it all. I knew I shouldn't an lord forgive me but he opened that door. "Think ya need a better choice in words, an ya also need contacts er glasses cause I think almost runnin me over was yer fault, an by the way, yer toothpaste," I said leaning over close.
"It sucks," I said then turned around to grab a cloth and bottle.
He followed me across to the opening of the counter. Set his cup down an grabbed me, cupping my face an our lips flew together. The gasps of the room swirled in echoes. My head swirled too forgetting all about the bottle an cloth. I dropped them right there, on the floor my hands sliding up his chest.
When he pulled away taking his cup again spinning around an stalked off to the truck. I stood there stunned not able ta move. My knees felt like jello as the guys chuckled and laughed walking out after him. Just when I thought he was done, he came stomping back in.
"Here's my number since ya threw it out last night," he said.
He grabbed me again and our lips moved in sync. Hearing giggling from every corner of the cafe, I wanted to die. What a spectacle for the gossipers. "I'm not playin Mr. nice guy any more Cassidy," he whispered in my ear.
My breath left me an I knew that I provoked this, the lovely ladies from the church were gathered at a table. Big mouth bitches, I needed to take back my control. Bending down I grabbed the bottle and cloth and stood up as he walked to the door. "Ryan," I called.
He stopped and turned around that was my cue ta make em all really talk. Walking towards him after setting the cloth an bottle down. Running my hand over his chest up to his shoulder, I grabbed the back of his hair and pulled him to my lips. Sliding my tongue in with his trying to knock him off his feet. Heard my mother gasping, "Cassidy," she scolded but I didn't care any more.
He fell up against the door, an his hands ran down to my butt pulling me up into him. I broke the kiss an back up a bit running my fingers down to his belt slowly. "Meet me here after work," I said.
His eyes slowly opened in a lusty look, "k, Huu," he breathed out.
I turned around seeing my mom with her arms folded and looking cross with me. Walking towards her leaving a heavy breathing Ryan at the door. "Cassidy Beth what in the worlds gotten inta you," mom said.
The tone in her voice confirmed her anger, and the cold in her eyes did too. "Nothin momma, why," I said a bit more snobby than I wanted.
Her mouth opened her teeth together, the look she gave before she would paddle my butt as a child. I huffed an walked threw the kitchen taking my apron off and tossing it on the counter. Taking off out the back door, to my car unlocking it I sat in my drivers seat. Taking out a cigarette, and looked for my lighter.
Hearing the flick of a zippo, and the flame close to me. I turned my head slowly freezing, looking at the dark eyed man standing there with a smirk. A cigar in his teeth, he was a mess and reeked of cheep booze. "Hey gorgeous," he said.
The last thing I heard before he dragged me out of my car.
