Ryan's POV:
This was a bullshit call, and they knew it. They took me in cause I'm new to town and I have a couple priors. This is shit I thought I made my call but I didn't know if they were gonna show up. I been sitting here for the last couple hours in a cell.
"Hey copper, can I have a drink or something, maybe lunch," I asked the deputy sheriff.
He stood up and walked over to the bars, "y'all get shit when I say so," he said.
He walked over to the blond by the door and bent over talkin to her. He had her gigglin up a storm, probably bedding her too. The way he was touching her arm sure looked like it. He stood up finally and turned around looking at me.
He walked over pulling his chair with him, and sat down. "What's yer interest in Cassidy Jenson," he asked.
I looked up at him with a frown, "she's a good friend," I said.
"Huu, y'all need ta stay away from her she's been threw enough," he said.
"What ta hell is it ta y'all, ya her man, huh, her boyfriend," I asked angered by his comment.
"No but I've known her fer ever, went ta school with her, I wish I was but she done keep turnin me down," he says.
I shake my head, at his words he don't know her at all I think. "Ever think there's a reason fer that," I say.
He looks at me wondering where I'm goin with this and his lips open, this should be good. "Ya, I can protect her, better than anyone can," he says.
"Ha, ha, ya I bet ya can, with yer perfect world an badge, bet y'all go ta church too, an yer right in there with the perfects," I state.
"Church is somethin every one round here goes too, bet y'all think she's right inta that bad shit huh," he said.
He stood up from the chair and grabbed the bars. "Only problem bein, she's a good girl, led down the wrong path, an the way I see it, yer on tha wrong sidea tha bars boy," he finished.
Moving his chair back to his desk with papers piled high an fancy computer. I look him down his pressed sheriff suit to his shiny boots. Shaking my head as I lay back down on the cot, I close my eyes thinking of her playful banter this mornin an the kiss in the dinner.
They all have her wrong, they don't know her at all, none of em do. Not that I do fully but what I do know is she's sick of there shit and talk, there proper crap. It all takes a tole on a heart that wants ta be free.
Cassidy's POV:
Daddy checks the oil in my car and fills the gas tank. I sit eating my sandwich against the drivers door. Finally he walks over to me and slides his hands in his pockets the way Ryan would. His hair blowing in the breeze, "hmm, call me when ya get where yer goin ok pumpkin," he says.
I throw my crust over ta the ducks and hug him tight. He puts his arms around me an kisses my head. "I will daddy," I say.
Stepping back he comes up with a right hook and taps my jaw with it. "I love you honey," he said.
"I love you too daddy," I say back.
He moves his hand and pushes my hair behind my ear. Moves his fingers to my chin an pinches it like he did when I was younger. "Be safe, there's money in the ashtray, and a spare in the trunk if ya need it," he informs me.
I hug him again an he kisses me on the cheek, letting me go he puts his hands on my shoulders. "Go find yer self baby girl, an grab on ta it with both hands," he says with a smile.
"Thank you daddy," I say an turn to open my door.
"Love you," he says again.
I get in and roll the window down, "love you too daddy," I say starting my car.
"Don't worry bout yer momma, she'll come round, she loves ya too just needs ta get her blond head outta her ass," he says.
"Hmhm, yeah," I say.
He winks at me and I back up wave to him and drive down the driveway. Pull out onto the road with a mission to hopefully get Ryan outta jail. Turning my CD on just when I was gonna change it I stop and listen. Nothing could have been farther from the truth.
Miranda Lambert - I just really miss you.
Ryan's POV:
I wake up hearing talking, so I sit up to see my brother talking to the sheriff and deputy sheriff. Full prick lawyer suit on and that face of you gotta be kidding me. A few words spoken and the sheriff walks to my cell keys jingling. He unlocks it an opens the door "yer free ta go kid," he says.
I stand up and walk out watching my brothers face, he's shaking his head. The deputy sheriff looks me over and smirks, can't let him have the last laugh. I stop picking up my wallet and stuff and sine the papers and look at him. "Guess I'm on the right side of the bars after all," I say.
He looks up at me with a grim face, "careful what ya do boy, I'll be watchin ya," he says.
I shake my head and stuff my stuff in my pockets take my Malabo's an take one out. "Ryan, that's enough lets go," my brother says. I wiggle my eyebrows at the deputy and walk out my brother in front of me.
"Ry what happened ta stayin outta trouble, thought ya we're workin now," he asked as soon as we were out the door.
"Jason get off my case, this was a fucking bull shit call, an y'all know it, they booked me cause I fuckin hit a guy on the head, he was trying ta rape my, I mean, he was trying ta rape a girl," I said.
"Yer, so yer involved with this girl," he asked cocking an eyebrow.
"Not really I just kinda met her, yesterday, she walked out in front of me an I just about hit her," I said.
Jason shook his head, "your fuckin lucky I got yer call, I just happened to stop at tha office, y'all need ta keep yer ass outta trouble," he said.
I sat down on the side walk an lit my cigarette, "Those thinks I'll kill ya, ya know," he said.
"Yeah yeah," I said.
"Huuuu, I hope this girls worth it Ryan cause one of these days I ain't gonna be able ta talk you out of it or get ya a shorter sentence," he said.
I ran my hand over the back of my neck holding my shoulder an put my other hand on my arm. Wondering if she's ok, everything is so fucked up right now. I wondered if she was still at work or what. My answer was given when she pulled in the lot, I took a deep breath.
"Ya she is," I said and patted Jason's shoulder standing up.
"Thank ya bro," I finished.
"Uh huh, just be more careful ok," he said as I stepped off the side walk.
Cassidy got outta her car an started running for me. "Oh my god yer out," she squealed.
Jumping up into my arms an fer the first time in my life I've never been so happy to see a woman. I swung her around an she kissed me, I stopped spinning but the rest of me didn't. Setting her down I looked at her an cupped her face. "Yer a sight fer sore eyes, come on I want ya ta meet someone," I said
"Hmhm, you are too," she said.
I took her hand and led her over ta Jason who was standing briefcase in one hand and phone at his ear in the other. I rolled my eyes at his lawyer talk clean shaven and fancy. Cassidy stood comparing us and I think she clued in, we do look alike. She pointed at him "yer brother," she whispered.
I put my finger up to my lips and made a notion of big tough lawyer talkin on the phone. She giggled and I smiled, he looked over at me and smirked. Then looked at Cassidy who now had her hair down and makeup on. God she's beautiful, I think as I watch her giggling.
Jason gets off the phone and his eyes stopped on Cassidy. "Jason, this is Cassidy, Cassidy my brother Jason," I said introducing them.
Cassidy smiled sweetly and put out her hand he took it still checking her out. "Nice ta meet ya Jason," Cassidy says.
"Uh, yeah, you too," he says looking at me.
I roll my eyes at him knowin full well what he's thinkin. How the hell dose my little brother find the cute ones. "Well, um, I suppose y'all got some catchin up ta do, so, I'm gonna figure out where I'm goin," she says.
I frown looking at her "goin, yer leaven," I ask.
"Ya everything that's, well, huuu long story short I need ta get outta here so," she said.
"Actually Ry I gotta get back ta the office, y'all go a head, we can catch up later, nice meetin ya Cassidy," Jason pipes up.
"You too Jason, safe um, trip home or, ta the office," Cassidy stutters out.
I shake his hand and tell him thanks again and he walks to his car. I follow Cassidy ta her car an she leans against the side of the hood. "So now I'm out yer leaven," I say putting my hands in my pockets.
With her hands behind her but she stands rocking bumping her car. "Huuu, I got in a huge fight with my momma, an everything exploded," she said.
I bow my head an look at her, "where ya goin," I ask.
"I don't know, anywhere but here," she says.
I trail my eyes down her chest and to her car, and then smirk. "We could go ta my house," I say.
"We, yer house," she inquires cautiously.
"Ya, it's like a 20 minute drive from here, totally secluded, with a gate that locks, electric fence round all 880 acres," I say.
"Don't y'all have work," she says.
I shake my head, "what ever," I say shrugging.
She gets a grin on her face an raises her eyebrows, "what tha hell, why not," she said.
"Alright, I gotta go get my stuff from the hotel though," I said.
"Ok," she says.
We get in the car and a slow sad songs playin, as the words float threw the air I look over at her. She looks at me smirks an closes her eyes as she changes the song. Something about Bad example comes on and she starts to sing with it as we drive to the hotel. Watching her sing I lean back just happy to see her ok, alive, hm, singing.
We pull up outside the room and get out, walking to the door I open it with the card and she walks in and I follow. This urge comes over me and I grab her hugging her and kiss her. Pushing her against the door, needing to be near her.
She breaks the kiss and I can see it in her eyes that was too fast so I back away. "I'm sorry I," I start to say.
She stops me with her hand on my chest, "normally it might be ok, but not today," she says.
"Right, huuu," I breath out.
"I'll go get yer um, toothbrush an toothpaste," she says with a smirk.
"Hm, wouldn't wanna leave that hear," I say with a chuckle.
She giggled and walked to the bathroom, to grab stuff. I threw all my cloths and everything in my suitcase but when she came out she breathed in sharp. "Oh my god, yer not," she said.
I looked at her then down at my suitcase, "what," I asked.
She rolled her eyes an walked over to the little closet thing. Grabbing two bags hanging from the coat hanger. She than walked over to me, and handed them too me. I looked at her like what ta hell ya want me ta do with these. She rolled her eyes again, "oh my god, huuu, put yer dirty cloths in them," she said.
"Ya mean that's what these are for," I asked smirking.
"Hmhm, yes," she said.
I shook my head and pulled out my dirty cloths shoving them in the bags. When everything was packed, she tossed me the keys to her car. "Y'all might as well drive, ya know where yer goin," she said.
"Ok," I said and grabbed the bags, walked out the door.
We put my bags in her back seat and I walked to the front office. Walking in a younger girl greeted me, looking me up and down. Cassidy followed me and saw this girl, she must of been jealous cause she wrapped her arm around mine and held my hand.
"Well hey there Cassidy," tha girl said.
She looked over at her giving her a fake smile and I knew right away she was one of the babblers. "Hi Tess," she said.
"Um, what can I do fer y'all," this Tess said.
I set the card on the desk, "jus returning this," I said.
Cassidy set her other hand on my stomach and leaned on my arm. Tess looked us over in a bit of a disgusted look. "Alright, did y'all have a good stay'" she asked looking at me.
"Uh we di," I started ta say.
"Ya, it was great, thanks Tess, come on honey" she said, then looked at me.
I figured out the game she was playin, one last rise outta the mouths of town people. I moved my hand from hers an out round her waist while the Tess girl took out the book. She looked down at it and looked threw, figured if Cassidy was trying fer a rise I'd help her make it good.
I leaned down and kissed her just seconds before Tess looked back up. Tess cleared her throat at us and I slowly backed off from the kiss. "We're good here," I asked Tess.
"Uhhh, yeah," she said stunned.
"Good, come on babe," I said ta Cassidy.
The smirk on her face said it all that she was happy with the outcome of it. I turned bringing her with me and slid my hand down ta her ass cheek just ta give it extra. She wiggled her fingers bye to Tess an we walked ta the door.
We took off in her car, me drivin and her with her feet up on the dash as she played a song and sang to me.
