Chapter 14 - The Insider

Mhm, fuck. What's her deal? Acting all cold and mysterious after such an intense ordeal. I mean, if anything, I should be the moody one like...seriously mane I didn't n-

And just as I was about to say that, a low voice interrupted me.

"Yo, you had quite the fun in there." leaned against a wall, a pale-looking guy with long, silver hair observed Frei.

I didn't even hear the guy- no breath, no heartbeat. I had to check if my ears were clogged because that's simply impossible. My senses were trained to the peak to...and yet.

"Uhh, and you are?" I addressed the unknown with a calm yet deep, alarming tone. I had a thought process at the time, to expect the unexpected.

"Woa, woa, no need. Just here to talk." The guy stepped to Frei and reached out his hands in a greeting manner, "Heller...the names Heller."

He showed no signs of animosity nor hostility and yet my senses said otherwise. I ended up greeting the man with a firm grip and before I knew it, I was flipped into the air; our hands still intertwined.

"My, my...how naive."

The man kept a tight grip on my arm, did he think this was enough? I dislocated my entire arm structure, simply slipping away from the ordeal.

"You spoke too soon," our backs now facing each other. The man swung his arm 180 degrees backward, I ducked and swept at his feet. Nearly spontaneously the man jumped above my attack and in that very instant we locked eyes, he backed away.

*fwit*

"Hey, I've seen enough. Let's stop here." Heller smiled from a distance before calmly approaching Freidich.

"Oh," I said in a fashionably manner.

Heller had an inward thought as he observed Freidich, 'So the stories were true. The target was a kid.' After, he shot a sharp gaze at Freidich and said, "I initially came here to warn you of Grimcrest, ever heard of em'?

The name sound oddly familiar, the old man once warned me of this group.

"No, am I supposed to be concerned?" was what I decided to go with as a response.

The man shrugged, "Well, either way, they're coming for you and trust me, you don't want Geimcrest as an enemy."

I paused, "Looks like we already are." Realizing two men on both wings slowly approaching.

The guy smirked, " Well, have fun."

Heller signaled both men to attack Freidich. Right after dashing forward, both men lunged into their wolf transformation.

I always ask this question, do you think this is enough?

Freidich grabbed the snot of the first wolf that attacked him, unfortunately crushing it's skull in the process.

Because to this day, no one can answer.

The second wolf had its head chomped off off-screen. The disruptive crushing of bones sent shivers down Heller's spine, causing him to stop for a moment to look back.

"My, my, that was impressive. But the fact remains you killed two members of Grimcrest (points to corpses) now we'll see how you hold your own."

(fwishhh)

After that Heller vanished before my eyes. It's unfortunate he couldn't take the corpses with him. For a moment I thought to get rid of them but ultimately decided it's not my problem.

Going forward throughout my day after the incident, the idea that some group or organization after me weighed on my thought. Who's after me you ask, I have a hunch so let's see how it plays out.

Freidich ended up going back for the night, too distraught by the prior occurrence to even sit and have dinner with the family. His mother couldn't get through to him as this was her first time she seen him like this. Scarlett improvised, convincing the old man that somethings definitely wrong with her son, eventually persuading him get involved with the matter.

Outside back, on the porch, a small beacon light lit up the area where Freidich sat. The old man took a seat next to Frei.

"Boy, you know you don't got to ask why I'm here...(turns to Frei)."

"Hm, who am I fooling? (Looks at the old man in all seriousness)...I think I'm being hunted..."

"And? (The old man had a concerned look, he knew Frei was holding something back)...what is it boy?"

"I'm scared...that I won't be able to do anything (Frei lowered his head)."

"(The old man stood up with an angered expression) Say it again."

"What?"

"I said, say it again."

"(I hesitated for a moment) I'm, I'm scared."

"One more time." He said.

"I'M SCARED."

"(The old man looked down on me) Fear is not a good thing to believe in, it is just a concept. Have you ever notice when a child at birth do things that we would be scared to do? Why is that?"

"(For a second I pondered that last part) Well, if I had to guess, that means fear is something instill into us."

"(The old man smiled) Fear, in my opinion, is used by the weak. With so little power, they can only come up with an alternate method to overpower the strong."

"I see. So to get rid of fear one needs power."

The old man stared at Freidich's realization thinking that tonight might be the night of his enlightening.

For the next hours under a full moon Freidich practiced his ass off. Covering every aspect both within  the combat field and the strategic field. As the two trained, the old man soon started to become overpowered. He felt Freidich's overall power rising and rising and... he was pulling the power from the moon.

The old man realized if this prolonged any longer then he would be in grave danger. Danger that happed so fast the old man couldn't make what of it. First it's was the eyes turning blood-red, then it was the subtle shapeshifting transformation and the next thing you know, the old man was thrown into a nearby tree with a force so powerful that the tree broke, sending the old man into two others behind it.

Furthermore, it wasn't until after the old man came to he became petrified. The person who he once thought was Freidich was no more.

A few feet over, standing from where he was thrown, a figure appeared. The old man judged the thing to be at least 8-feet tall, with a dense and compacted structure covered in thick, black fur. What couldn't go unnoticed was the creature's glowing red eyes. But the thing that the old man hadn't realize was that he was looking at a mirage. The creature had long left the spot seconds ago.

EXT.

In the forest, nothing was safe from Freidich. From trees being trampled to deers being mangled, everything paved way in his path. The monster terrorized farmers crops, viciously dismantling their flocks and herds. This mindless tormenting would continue up until the point 'they' arrived. They, as in members of Grimcrest— two to be exact. It was clearly obvious who they were based on the emblems they had tatted on their neck and forearm.

One of the members whistled to get the monsters attention which proved to be futile. The other member laughed and proceeded with the proper demonstration.

"This is how it's done, (Awwooooo!)"

The second member beared his fang, let how a vile howl, this time capturing the monster's attention. When the monster turned, Grimcrest members immediately knew this would be no easy match. But it was when they looked closer they saw something they'd never expect. In the beasts' possession, the carcass of a fully grown bear rested on one shoulder and the corpse of a fairly large deer on the other. With little effort, the monster simultaneously threw both corpse at the group which landed right at there feet.

Both Grimcrest members looked down at the corpse and frowned disgustingly. One even went as far as to say, "This means war".
