A thousand corpses laid ahead as far as the eyes can see, even more, lay behind the wall for the harbinger to claim and yet...there would be even more it would need to take. Iegor saw what he feared to see, shadowy figures had begun to appear on the rise. A loud horn wailed in the distance. It was an army. The Feiix army. They were matching upon the Fort once again, but this time... this time their ranks we're filled with more than just Feiix soldiers and machines of war.
Matching upon the Fort were eight tall fearsome looking beasts; decorated with the bones of men. None could deny their intent. The taste for blood was pasted heavily upon their faces. They wielded firmly at hand their weapons of choice. A club of wood and stone. They were ready to fight, but with a meal in mind.
" By the Gods. The Ogres of Jaakaian Mountains stands with them ", Eric uttered in shock " What do we do Iegor? Any escape we had. Is long gone now ".
The Lord Commander heard the voice of his General and look upon the faces of his soldiers once more. He could see the fear rising within them, and couldn't help but feel regret for not allowing them to go be with their families. He too wishes he could see his wife and son, who he has not seen since he was born five years ago, and yet. He knew if he had. Then his family and theirs would suffer at the hands of the Feiix army.
The Feiix army came into view, with a simple command, they halted their advance. A lone rider on horseback came forward. He was dress in a armor of black steel with gold-lined upon it. On his chest plate bore the golden crest of a Phoenix. A yellow cape shifted with the wind behind him as he rode up. Once in clear view, he removed his helmet. Revealing the face of middle age man with a brown low cut and a mustache. His facial expressions showed the scars of an arrogant dog to call upon when need to bark. Turning his sights upward, He spoke loud but firm to ensure all would hear his tongue.
" SOLDIERS OF CANAAR HEAR ME, I GENERAL DEMON GREYMOR COME ON BEHALF OF MY LORD. HIGH COMMANDER MARCUS BATIUS THORMAIN, MY LORD WILL GRANT YOU PARLAY IF YOU WOULD BUT LAY DOWN YOUR WEAPONS AND ABANDON THE FORT. NO MORE OF YOU NEED DIE THIS DAY. YOU WILL BE GRANTED SAFE PASSAGE BACK TO YOUR HOMELAND. ALL YOU NEED DO IS BUT LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS. YOU HAVE BUT A MOMENT TO DECIDE ".
A stur of voices began to emerge from Iegor's ranks. Consideration of the General's words was slowly growing.
" What do you think Iegor? Should we take his offer ", Eric replied hoping to hear an agreeable reply.
" I have never crossed swords with this Marcus ", Iegor replied calmly " but I have heard he shows mercy to no one ".
" We can not determine our faith base on the whispers of tales, We have no other choice here Iegor, Your friends have not even here. We should pull back to fight another day" Eric replied trying to convince his Commander to see reason.
Iegor pondered hard upon the words of his friend and General and wondered if he should risk taking the offer, but he thought even harder upon what it would mean for his people. Hope was quickly slipping through his fingers, and that's when he smelt it.
" Am sorry my friend but your wrong they are indeed here ", Iegor casting a sly smile.
" SOLDIERS OF CANAAR. WHAT IS YOUR DECISION. WILL YOU ACCEPT MY LORD'S OFFER, OR WILL YOU DIE LIKE RATS BENEATH YOUR STONE WALLS", Demon impatiently replied.
Iegor indeed had a reply for the General, and reply he did.
" RETURN TO YOUR MASTER DOG. YOU TELL HIM THAT WE WILL NOT BE MOVED BY PRETTY WORDS, AND IF HE WANTS THIS FORT THEN HE WOULD HAVE TOO TAKE IT FROM MY ROTTING CORPSE " Iegor replied bearing his sword the General.
Demon heard Iegor's reply. It had cut him deep, deeper than the sharpest sword. It was an insult, not just to his Lord but to him as well who had brought the will of his Lord. This insult he could not and would not forgive.
" CALL THE GODS FOR FAVOR. FOR TODAY...YOU DIE", Demon replied pulling upon his horse's reins to make his way back.
The Lord Commander felt no fear in Demon's words because he knew hope had arrived. For he was grace with a scent carried by the wind. The smell of ash, but this ash wasn't caused by any mere flame. No...this ash can only be caused by...
" DRAGOOON!".
Iegor and his company heard the terrified cry of the Feiix Soldier. A cry so loud, it shook their very ranks. That same cry was followed by the sudden appearance of a large black Dragon from the depths of the sun, eclipsing the ground in its shadow. With a roaring breathe it rained fire down upon the Feiix Soldiers. Just before grabbing ahold of one of the Ogres, and tossing it at one of the enemy's catapults.
With no time for a counter. Four more Dragons appeared each of a different color. From Red, Brown, Grey, and White. The Four Dragon aided the black Dragon in its assault. Laying waste to the enemy forces.
The Black Dragon's eyes of crimson met upon Iegor and saw a need to approach, with a simple flap of its wings, It flue over to the Fort landing at the Gate. The Lord Commander's soldiers began to quiver in fear for most had never seen a Dragon up close before, and believe they would be its next victim, but Iegor was not the same. He shielded his sword and made his approach to the edge of the wall placing his hand upon the beast.
" Draco my old friend. You had me worried ", Iegor uttered playfully.
" My apologies Iegor " Draco replied in a firm heavy voice, " Our last task proved to be a most challenging one, but the Feiix's Fort in the Nakian Forest lie in ashes ".
" That's good to hear, and what of the White Monarch? was he successful in his mission as well?", Iegor replied.
" He was, The Feiix western mines is no more " Draco replied.
" And where is he now?", Iegor replied.
" See for yourself, Lord Commander. It seems he has found a new prey", Draco replied, turning his sights back to the battlefield.
Looking upon the chaos, Iegor saw General Demon fleeing through his men. A look of fear was heavily pasted upon his face, behind him giving chase were four Tigers the size of full-grown bears plowing through his men. Leading the charge was an even larger white Tiger.
The General tried his best to escape, but the White Tiger lept into the air snatching him off his horse, mauling him upon the ground till finally tossing him to the pack for whatever was left.
" Well then, it seems we're all set "Iegor replied, " shall we aid our furry friend ? ".
" They shall taste my flames before dust ", Draco replied making his way back to the battle.
" Oh and Draco. If you come across there commander I would very much like a word with him " Iegor replied.
" If he survives, then he is yours " Draco replied.
" That's all I ask" Iegor replies playfully.
" No matter how many times I see that beast, I can't get used to it ", Eric replies regaining his composure.
" His name is Draco, The Red Flame King. You will do well to remember that ", Iegor scolded.
" My apologies, I didn't mean to offend" Eric replied realizing his shortcomings.
" Its not I should you apologize to. It's Draco ". Iegor scolded.
" Of course, in any case, what do we do now?" Eric replied trying to avoid the subject.
" Now? now we fight," Iegor replied, drawing his sword filled with confidence.
Iegor look at his troops, and with the same tone he said the words they knew all too well
" !! SOLDIERS OF THE FLAMING CLAW COMPANY. WHAT DO YOU FIGHT FOR ?!!" He yelled.
" !! FOR TRUTH !! ", Iegor's troops yelled.
" !! WHAT WILL YOU PROTECT ?!! " Iegor replied.
" !! THE INNOCENT !! ", They all yelled, louder than before.
" !! AND WHAT WILL YOU LIVE FOR ?!! ", Iegor replied.
" FOR OUR FAMILIES ", They all yelled even louder than before
THEN BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY, OUT THERE I DO NOT SEE DEATH. I SEE GLORY. I SEE THE DAY WHEN YOU BECOME IMMORTALIZED, FOR WHAT YOU DO TODAY. YOU DO NOT FOR YOURSELVES, BUT FOR YOUR CHILDREN AND YOUR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN, SO THEY CAN SEE THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, AND WHEN THEY SPEAK YOUR NAME, THEY WILL NOT SPEAK OF A WARRIOR, BUT AN IMMORTAL WHO STOOD BESIDE THE GODS AND BECAME A LEGEND!! ".
