"Erstseifi based on books are threat to the agmenagias who could only wield one magic element." Verus explained, "But the explanation is incomplete." He added.
"Incomplete? Why? What do you mean?" I asked.
"Illia said that when she was trying to search for a certain enchantment book, she accidentally saw a weird book in her father's library. The book contains a lot of things that a normal agmenagia didn't knew." He said.
"And those are?" I asked.
"Being able to wield two elemental magic is a threat, because it is too powerful to handle. Ten top notch agmenagia of a certain element is not enough to stop an agmenagia who can wield two elements." He explained.
"T-that's how powerful it is?!" I was surprised with the imbalance of power.
"Yes, but it's not just that." He added.
"What do you mean?" I said.
"Council, or even the academia never told students about lost and forbidden magic. Illia told this to me long time ago. She said it was written in that weird book." He said.
"What? Lost magic? Forbidden magic?" Now that was unexpected.
"As what Illia said to me, this is a myth and a legend, and I never saw it before. An agmenagia who can cast two or more elements is too powerful enough to have the possibility of learning the forbidden magic; Light and Dark magic."
"Light and Dark?" I asked.
"Yes. Light magic are called Holy Magic. Holy magic are magic of body. She said that it was a miracle magic like rapid healing that a normal water healer can't heal. Deep bruises, or even the people who are in the verge of death could be healed.—" Verus is talking but I interrupted him.
"But, those are good magic, right? How come healing became a forbidden magic?" I asked.
"Don't interrupt someone while talking." He flicks my forehead.
"Ouch."
"The book that Illia read said teleportation belongs to light magic. Even resurrection belongs to the holy magic. That's why it's called magic of body." He explained.
"I still don't get it. Why does it have to be forbidden?" I asked.
"Even if we use magic, we have feelings. Compared to your kind, we live for about two hundred, or even thousands of years. If an erstseifi became greedy with powers, they will become untouchable. If ressurection is real, it could bring imbalance in the power of one element user and an erstseifi." He explained.
"So, that's why it's forbidden to learn them?" I asked, and he nodded.
"Dark magic on the other hand are the magic of mind. They said it has Illusion, mind erase, mind alteration and such kind of magic. It was called dark magic because of its nature. They can alter or change a memory of an agmenagia to be an enemy. Those forbidden magic are the main reason why they said that erstseifi are threat to us." Verus explained.
"Really too hard to grasp, but I guess I'll have to keep it in my mind." I commented.
"It's not just that." Verus said.
"Not yet? I'm overloading with information already!" I said.
"You said that it's alright with you even if it takes me five days, right?" Verus commented.
I rolled my eyes, "Fine!" I said.
"The very reason why those magic are forbidden are not really because of their nature and purpose."
"Then why are they called forbidden and lost?" I asked.
"Because those magic could be learned through rituals. The rituals needed a lot of agmenagia in order to be completed. Hence, lot of agmenagia will die in the process." He explained.
"You should've told that to me, earlier. You know?" I rolled my eyes again, "But on the other hand, atleast I get some part of your explanation. What happened to Licht when they found out that he can use two element magic?" I asked.
"Licht was sentenced to death, and was about to get persecuted, but Miu and Illia set him free. They let him get away." He said.
"Persecuted? Just because he was the fruit of love? It's not his fault!" I was irritated with this kind of set-up, because no one is entitled to kill or decide someone's future just for a petty reason like a threat, "Did he got away?" I asked.
"Yes, Illia told me that she almost killed all the members of the council. Miu stopped her, but Illia and Miu suffered a lot. They were listed as traitors on the whole world of Orbisomn." He replied.
"What?! Your world is irrational, you know?" I picked a fruit and bite it, "They will persecute them instead of giving a special education for special agmenagia like Licht. The council should've told them what to do with their powers, and educate them when they're still children. Why do they have to kill them?" I asked while my mouth is full.
Verus shrugged at me, "I don't know." He plainly replied.
"Hearing all of this makes me understand why you're hiding. If I were in Illia's shoe, I will do the same." I said. I was just teleported here, but today I found out that I am the potential villain.
"The queen; Illia's mother was the one who proclaimed them as traitors. I was elected back then as an inuitu by Illia's father. His father protected her until his last breath even though Illia was an official traitor. He believed her and suffered on his wife's hand. The king knew about this place, the mountain of Viridisum. It had a lot of unknown magic and natural illusion. He said that we should go here to protect Illia until the right time." He explained.
"So, this place was already here when you went here?" I looked at the direction of the palace.
"I heard the legend behind this mountain. Ancient book says the magic itself lived here." He answered.
"Is that the reason why this mountain feels magical, and it had a lot of illusions?" I asked again.
"Yes, indeed." He answered.
"But, you said that his father said until the right time, am I right? What right time is he talking about?" I asked.
"I have no idea what it is he's talking about. Before that happened, there was a war that happened between the queen and the princess. Illia was stabbed and badly wounded, Licht returned for the mean time. Both Licht and Miu helped her, but the council and the four representative of each element were our enemies. The King lost eventually. Illia lost consciousness after the king instructed us where to go. He asked me to protect Illia at all cost, but I knew that she's stronger than me. All I have to do is feed her." He said.
"Atleast you kept your promise, but now you can't feed her because she's not here in your world." I said.
"That's not what just happened. After the war, she kept her magic within her. She was never the same, maybe that's what her father is talking about." He commented on my statement.
"What will you do then?" I asked.
"Illia is a total mess up when she use her magic. All I can do right now is to find out what happened, that's why I have to protect you until then with all I have." Verus suddenly looked at me.
My heart skipped a bit. What's wrong with me?
"I-I don't need you to protect me." I said.
"You might be strong physically, but you have no idea how powerful magic is." He said.
"Suit yourself." I said.
"Since we've been here for twenty years already, do you want to go out of this mountain?" He asked me.
"I thought you needed to hide?" I asked.
"We have to hide Illia's power here because they can detect it, but you're not Illia. There's nothing to detect, that's why I am asking you if you want to go outside of this moutain and check each mainland of each element. With that, I can explain our magic thoroughly." He said.
I thought for a bit. I agree that plainly explaining the story and giving them the description is not enough to understand everything. They're too complicated to understand, maybe because this world and my world are completely different. "If it's alright, then I wanted to." I said.
"Alright. Let's ready ourselves. We'll depart in five days." He suddenly decided.
"That's some impulsive decision." I said and rolled my eyes.
"Suit yourself." He copied my words and laugh.
