Chereads / Divine Demon God / Chapter 28 - A Little Kitten

Chapter 28 - A Little Kitten

After half an hour, due to traffic, the caravan finally arrived at the city hall where they could fill out the citizenship paperwork. Climbing off the wagon, Hunter glanced around looking at all the people entering and exiting the city hall. He was able to see a multitude of races, beastkin, dwarves, elves, and some more humanoid gargoyles, but the most common race that could be seen was still human.

As people passed by, they too looked at the party of children climbing off the wagon. Some of them even stopped and began whispering as they looked at the boy in black assassin attire, worry and avid disgust on their faces. That was until Ian climbed down and walked up to stand next to Hunter while they watched the crowd, waiting for the children to finish disembarking.

Seeing such a young sentinel, many in the crowd became shocked, but they became even more shocked once they realized that this little boy in black appeared to be on good terms with the sentinel. Finally Ian, annoyed with all the staring and whispering going on, turned around to look at the crowd. "If you have important matters to attend to, take care of them. Stop delaying and wasting others time while you sit there and gawk."

The crowd quickly dispersed, some of the older, wiser people, looking back at the young sentinel as they thought about how he seemed to have a haughty temper.

With a chuckle, Hunter wrapped his arm around Ian's shoulder. "Brother, if you get overly hostile with the locals, they may not be willing to acknowledge you being a sentinel. You don't need to get overly defensive about what others are saying. We can't control it, and if we even try we will only end up making the situation more unfavorable towards us."

Ian just grunted as he stomped up the stairs, leading the group into the city hall. The statement of making a grand entrance could easily be used as Ian entered the city hall, for a "grand" entrance he did create. He used so much of his strength that when he pushed the door open, it went flying off it's hinges and sailing down the open hall. Lucky enough, everyone happened to be crowded along the sides of the hall as they talked to the secretaries behind counters or waited in line to deal with their business.

Everyone froze and looked at Ian, shock and slight fear flickering across their faces as they saw this little child, who bore the armor of the strongest warriors in the nation, appearing to be throwing a temper tantrum. Each step he took cracked the marble floor in a five meter radius, increasing the shock factor even more, to the point that a young man who was talking with one of the female secretaries stepped aside to allow Ian to walk forward and take his place.

As the rest of the group entered the building and saw Ian's destruction, Spartacus ended up shaking his head glumly as he thought to himself. [Well there goes all the rest of our money.] They walked up to Ian, who was now talking to the female secretary.

"Good afternoon everyone, my name is Linrun. May I ask what can I help you all with." As Hunter walked over and got a better look at the little secretary, he noticed that she was a short, flat chested, black haired Feli, with some white patterns or streaks in her hair. Her skin was clear and smooth, while her eyes were a vibrant golden yellow color, and her pupils were dilated as she stared at Ian and then at Hunter. Catching her scent, Hunter felt that is was a quite pleasant scent, though Stephanie's far outshine it; however, thanks to his Divinity, he was able to learn her age, and figments of her past.

Hunter looked at the fourteen year old Feli before he frankly asked, "You're a bit young to be a secretary in the city hall, aren't you?"

Linrun's eyes widened in shock as she glanced at Hunter before she spoke. "I'm just an assistant secretary, I haven't been made an official secretary yet."

Hunter nodded as he smelt a small amount of grief wafting off of her. Off to the side, Stephanie was watching how Hunter seemed to be seriously interested in this older Feli, causing her to frown and redden as she became enraged by jealousy. By this time, Linrun had returned her attention to Ian and now Spartacus as she began handing them the citizenship paperwork as she explained everything to them.

"Filling out this document, and receiving your license plate is free and paid for by the crown. This process is to help keep record of the population living in Siol, and how to better improve the living standards for the citizens. Compared to the Yechen Empire, which had it's workers wages in copper and silver, here in Siol we pay our workers silver and gold for their wages. Here in Ironchill, the expenses for everything is very costly, so I would recommend finding a place in Snakecliff which is a village a couple hours ride from here. There tavern prices are in the medium silver range compared to the cheapest taverns here."

Spartacus nodded as he began filling out a bunch of paperwork and legal documents before handing them over to Linrun as she finished her part. She got up and, taking the documents with her, went into a back room to create the citizen plates for them. By this time, Hunter had returned to Stephanie's side and could instantly tell that she was in a jealous state.

Leaning over to whisper in her ear, Hunter asked, "What's wrong my darling?"

She glared at him, not even reacting to his teasing, before she responded bluntly. "You seemed quite interested in that Feli."

Hunter sighed as he raised his hand and scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Stephanie watched as he seemed to be at a loss for words. Finally, Hunter seemed to have figured out what he should say and he began to speak. "Sorry for upsetting you, it's just that in my world Feli's are a very well liked race. Even though they don't exist on Earth, the concept of them was so well liked that it created a large crowd of followers, causing Feli's to out favor even the elven race, and well she happens to be the first Feli that we've officially met. Plus, I don't really now how to put this, but I feel a similar drawing to her as I do to you, as if our fate's are entwined. I do love you, and I will always be wanting to give you the world, but I can't ignore this premonitive feeling either." Hunter tilted his head away awkwardly as Stephanie sat there and processed what he was saying.

Thinking back to what Hunter was, Stephanie gave a sigh as she realized that even if she tried being his only lover, she was way over her head since he was an immortal entity and she was merely a human. She glared at Hunter before she spoke. "I'll allow it, but I have to be in the higher position, understand."

Hunter's draw dropped as he looked at Stephanie, causing her to blush and look away as she fidgeted. "Besides, all powerful men have multiple women. Since there's no stopping it, I might as well get used to it. All that matters to me though is that you will love me and take care of me always."

Hunter grabbed her hand gently, and raised it up so he could plant a kiss on the back of it. "Of course my love. I will always cherish you, no matter what fate may throw at us."

Stephanie nodded with a satisfied smile before she turned to watch the Feli return with the citizenship plates. "So how are you planning on making her my sister?"

Hunter froze in shock for a second before he turned and looked at Linrun as well. With a smile and a sigh he stated, "I guess I'll just have to let fate play out. I'll probably end up running into her while we're on the streets, or maybe end up running into someone connected to her. Who knows."

Stephanie nodded while she took her citizenship plate from Spartacus, Hunter also took his but he didn't look at it, just putting it in one of his pockets and making sure it didn't fall out.

As they were beginning to leave Linrun, they heard her slightly cough, causing the brothers to look back at her. She blushed awkwardly as she pointed at the damage Ian had caused, and stated softly, "You guys are gonna have to pay for that before you all leave you know?"

The three brothers eyed Ian out, causing him to laugh awkwardly as he looked at the door and the cracked marble. Spartacus turned around and walked back over to Linrun, asking, "Who should we speak to, to compensate the damages?"

Linrun nodded her head as she called over one of the guards standing against the back doors. "These guys need to go up and see the boss so they can compensate the damages their sentinel created."

The guard nodded his head and turned around, leading Spartacus and Ian up the stairs. Hunter and Orion took the children back outside finding their wagons were still there before they began loading them up. After several minutes Spartacus and Ian came back out, followed alongside by Linrun who didn't seem too happy.

Hunter and Orion walked up to them, confusion evident on Orion's face while Hunter was smirking slightly. "So what's the plan?" Orion asked as he saw Spartacus give Ian a look.

Spartacus then turned his glance back towards Orion before he spoke quietly. "The damages cost over a thousand gold pieces. We don't have that kind of money, nor will we get it anytime soon. So I made a deal with the bastard, telling him I can get angel feathers to him in a couple of days."

Shock and anger flashed across Orion's eyes as he took a couple steps back and began eyeing the three brothers. "You WHAT?!"

Spartacus nodded dejectedly before he continued talking. "Relax we have a couple days to figure it out before he wants his payment. Now the man sent Linrun with us to help us get adjusted to Ironchill, and to show us Ironchill's important spots."

At this point Linrun smiled excitedly as she looked at the brothers. "I can take you all to the best taverns, markets, weapon smiths, armor smiths, and potion masters. Plus I can show you the teleportation pad, and the landing field for the airships."

One thing to note is that Felis, thanks to their cat blood, caused them to be very curious and explorative, while also being very stealthy with quick reflexes. Feli warriors were not as strong as other race warriors, but they did make perfect scouts, assassins, and magic wielders.

Quickly loading back into the two wagons, Linrun then began guiding them through the city streets towards a large plaza that had a large circular platform made out of crystal peridot and that had a radius of about 100 meters. Surrounding the peridot platform, they found stone pillars that had white glowing crystal decorated all over it, and floating about 50 meters in the air was a large white crystal being orbited by a couple of what appeared to be red rubies.

Stopping the wagons, the party got out and looked at the teleportation formation. Stephanie let out a gasp as she looked at the white crystals. "Those are space crystals! Only meteorites have them, causing them to be so rare that it could bankrupt entire nations. It's said that they could be used to connect to other space crystals and create a rift through space and time."

Linrun laughed as she glanced at Stephanie than returned her sight towards the portal. "All twelve of our cities in Siol have these teleportation portals, however the magic energy to activate them is quite expensive so they're only used in large scale evacuation or troop transport. The nobles from the capital can also use it, but regular people like us will never be able to experience it unless the border wall were to fall. That's why we have the airships, which are more affordable since it doesn't take much magic to activate them."

The children were awestruck as they ran onto the platform, checking out all the cool gems and crystals. Hunter saw Spartacus slowly examining the teleportation pad and the connection of magic between all the stones. After half an hour, he smiled and the brothers were able to detect Spartacus having a slight epiphany and his Divinity becoming slightly stronger.

Returning to the wagons to begin going to the airship field, Linrun glanced at Hunter and Spartacus as she became curious about who these people were and why they had such a young sentinel. But as the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat, and due to personnel reasons, Linrun was not as curious about things like other Feli. Yes she would get excited about exploring and what not, but she wouldn't go far to pester people directly, so she decided to not ask her questions until she was closer to these people.
