Chereads / Divine Demon God / Chapter 23 - The Gate of Worlds

Chapter 23 - The Gate of Worlds

Hunter watched as everyone else left towards Adenville, smiling sinisterly as his demonic nature took over, turning him into his demon form again. He looked at the green flames, nodding his head as he thought to himself. [Since these flames already give off a sinister vibe, any other creature should be unwilling to come near here to eat the corpses. In that case, the people of Adenville can come here and collect all the goblin cores.] He waved his hand and the flames moved, filling in the gap that Ian had been standing in on the northside; while creating a new gap on the southside, closer to Adenville.

After this was done, Hunter than looked north towards the dark mountains, gauging the distance and time it would take to march it. [Damn. These goblins marched nearly a month towards Adenville, and they were planning on marching all those women back in that time? Ya maybe a few would've survived, but many of them would've died before reaching the nest. So what's the benefit of all these women? Oh well, I'm really going to enjoy slaughtering those little pieces of shit.]

Before flying North, Hunter closed his eyes and waved his hand, focusing on the Divinity found in each and every goblin. As he mentally pulled it, the Divinity began seeping out of the goblins in lines, coalescing into a giant glowing ball that was as big as an elephant. He opened his eyes and looked at this ball floating in the air before him, taking note of the many Divinities that did not belong to the goblins. [Last time I only took the filthy noble's Divinity and split Asani and Tarenia's Divinity from it, returning it to the two. I then let that noble's Divinity disperse into the atmosphere... I wonder what would happen if I infuse the gathered Divinity to mine.... First, however, I should return all those women's Divinity before I try experimenting with the goblins'.]

He began to focus and concentrate, slowly pulling out each strand of Divinity that didn't belong to the goblins. As he molded the Divinity, he began to find a type of connection. He found that firstly there were very thin and tiny threads that belonged to the people that each of the goblins killed. He then found that for women who appeared to be married, and having the relation of adults, also had a thin thread, though it was larger than the threads that represented lives taken. And finally, he found the largest threads in the group of victims were those of the virgins. Hunter scowled as he began putting together this feeble understanding of Divinity.

[So Divinity has some relations to virgin hood and life. When someone is killed, a sliver of their Divinity will mark their killer, as to why, I'll definitely have to look into it, maybe use experiments or natural studies. Mhmm, best coarse for this experiment, so as not to use innocent people as test subjects, maybe only check it with the people I kill? As for the other connection, well I don't think people will want me to sit there and watch as they get it on, so this one will be more tricky to study. When I returned Asani and and Tarenia's Divinity, it was quite large and they seemed to grab at their stomachs in pain.... Don't tell me, if I take the Divinity that's connected to a person's virginity, I can give that back to them? I mean it would be hard to notice on men, but there's the chance that it would cause a women to regrow her defense... This, this is perturbing. I guess we can ask Spartacus how it ends up once those three get it on, other than that I can't really think of any other way of verifying this.]

As these thoughts and hypotheses flashed through his mind, Hunter lost track of time as the Divinity finished separating, turning into two balls, one made of goblin Divinity, and the other made from that of the victims. Hunter swatted at the victim ball, sending it flying south at a constant speed. He then turned his focus to that of the goblin's and he closed his eyes as he pictured connecting that Divinity to his three pillars. Had someone walked up and witnessed what Hunter was doing, they would've seen multiple stands of glowing light connecting Hunter to a giant orb floating several meters in the air. The strands seemed to wave in the wind, and as they touched Hunter's arms, they seemed to slither and wrap around them, working their way up to his chest and disappearing into his flesh as all along his body, glowing lines began appearing as they traveled up and down his body.

To Hunter, he watched as strands of light came off him, reaching out to hill pillars, and infusing into the pillars as they began to change colors. They flashed from the mix of colors, turning pure golden, than pitch black, before they began to shake, and quiver. As the final pit of strands left his being and merged with his pillars, he watched as they seemed to waiver in the air, resonating at a frequency that he couldn't hear but see. Finally, the pillars stopped shifting, and as Hunter looked, he found two new pillars had started forming. One of the pillars was nothing more than the size of a ruler in width, and wasn't even taller than his knees. As for the other pillar it was significantly smaller than his original pillar, plus the third pillar, however compared to the second pillar it was larger by a couple inches. Both of these new pillars were pure golden, and in his thought process, unrefined since they had just been purged and absorbed.

As he opened his eyes, Hunter felt like his body's constitution and strength has just become stronger. Though level one goblins were naturally weaker than a normal human, the level three goblin generals were equivalent to a bronze ranked adventurer who in normal human standards, was stronger than ten soldiers. Hunter breathed in as he felt the tens of thousands of goblins strength flowing into him, increasing his strength to that of a couple hundred adventurers. [So devouring the Divinity of other races, can also make me physically stronger. Interesting.] He smiled sinisterly as he looked towards the North, licking his lips as he thought about how many more of these feral goblins there were hiding in the mountain.

Beating his wings, Hunter took to the sky and quickly flew towards the mountains as the stars began their decent towards the West. Hunter quickly flew over the foothills as he neared the mountains. Landing on a large cliff, he took in a deep breath of the cold mountain air, picking up all new scents that he had never smelt before. However, thanks to his devouring of the goblin Divinity, Hunter was able to associate names of the creatures that he smelt, though they were in goblinook. Surprised, Hunter stopped and looked closely at the full new pillar, mentally he reached out and touched it, leading him to see memory fragments of the multitude of goblins. As he watched these fragments, he learned all about the feral goblins, discovering that these creatures worshipped a dark god that had no name. This dark god had told them that if they sacrificed a multitude of women to him, he would make them stronger than ever before. To prove his case, he made their king a level five feral goblin while the generals became level three, causing a ruckus to occur amongst the horde. After they had sacrificed the women, these goblins planned to rally more feral goblins, and lead their horde against the Olgorg nation, a nation of non feral goblins, orcs, and trolls, killing them for being traitors who worshipped the enemy gods.

Hunter smirked and shook his head as he fell off the cliff and glided towards the hidden cave that the feral goblins used as an entrance to their den. As he neared the entrance, he saw nearly a hundred goblins standing guard. They were either hiding in the brush or in position on and around two wooden watch towers that were built haphazardly. Making sure not to make a sound, Hunter used his cloak ability to make himself invisible, gliding in over the goblins' heads silently as he entered the cave. After passing the guards, Hunter folded his wings, turning into his human appearance while he began walking farther into the cave. Making sure that his cloaking ability was still activated, Hunter used his natural ability to cause his scent to disappear, guaranteeing that the only thing that would alert the enemy was his footsteps. However, with just the sound of footsteps, and no physical body or scent present, many of the goblins would likely play it off as a wandering spirit that had gotten trapped in this dark and gloomy place.

Reaching the end of the cave, Hunter found ten more goblins guarding a massive stone door which had a magnificent appearance. Carved into the door was two large entities, one that seemed to be made of crystal, while the other was made of blackstone. Beneath the two entities was what appeared to be a cluster of balls all in different positions and alignments, for an unsophisticated person, it would seem that it was nothing more than a jumble of weird balls. But, as Hunter looked closer, he noticed one of the balls appeared to have a carving on it that was similar in shape to part of Europe and the entire continent of Africa.

[Holy shit. That's earth...] Quickly realizing what the door meant, Hunter began looking at the other balls, noticing that they too had land masses carved into them. Unable to discern any color from the stone, and not able to figure out anything else from looking at the door, Hunter quickly rapped on the door, scaring the goblins as they tried finding what had caused the rapping. Finally one of the goblins opened the door in an attempt to see if the creature was on the other side, however when he looked, he found nothing except felt a faint wind blow by, going into the door. The goblin shivered as he closed the door, and as he turned around, he found the rest of his compatriots beheaded and lying on the ground. In fear, he dropped his weapon and began running down the tunnel towards the cave entrance, shrieking about an evil spirit, and causing a commotion up with the hundred so goblins at the entrance.

After passing the door, Hunter found himself in a massive cavern, covering ancient ruins that appeared to be as old as the door. Hunter walked down the road, heading towards the center of the ruins as he listened to the massive cheering and clattering of the goblin horde. Everywhere he looked he saw feral goblins, by time he had walked several blocks he already figured that there were hundreds of thousands of goblins in this den. He scowled to himself as he thought [If these goblins actually left the mountain, they could end up decimating entire provinces. If they end up rallying more of their kind, then the calamity would become far greater, maybe even calling in for the armies of the neighboring nations to step in and help fight against them.]

Hunter continued walking, though he made sure to climb on top of the ruins and parkour across the city towards were he expected the goblin king to be. [How am I supposed to kill all this filth... I can't go to overboard or else I'll destroy the ruins and any clues as to why we were brought here.] Focusing really hard, Hunter pulled up his Divinity pillars, looking at them closely as he tried to figure a way of killing many without destroying the landscape. As he watched, his pillars began circulating, forming a ring around his original pillar and once they finished he noticed that the tiny pillar had grown a couple more inches, both in width and in height. Then Hunter felt a searing pain, like that of fire raging through his bloods. As he watched his main pillar flickered and then a strand of green light, that seemed to flicker like fire, appeared; traveling all the way up the pillar into infinity.

As Hunter opened his eyes, green flames wisped out of their corners, while more flames began to wrap around his arms. Seeing the green flames appear out of nowhere, the goblins began to panic, trying to figure out what was before them. Smelling their fear, Hunter smiled sinisterly as he dropped down and began running towards the goblin king.
