''Be ready to lose; I will show you how we do Christmas cookies in San Francisco''states Hazel. Glad to have a chance to finally beat Liam at something that she is good at, and is prepared to make him wish that he never mentioned the idea of a competition in the first place. The number one thing that Liam's family loves more than anything is competition, especially during the Holiday season.''Well, it appears to my attention that we have a new festivity to add on Christmas Eve , ''says Avery. She overhears the conversation between Liam & Hazel while Thomas and herself finish setting up the hot cocoa bar. Thomas then comes running over to his daddy at full speed to where he doesn't stop before bumping into Liam's legs.''Can I help you, daddy, with the cookie bake-off?'' asks Thomas curiously, always wanting to help his dad.''You bet when have I ever said no to help, from my little buddy ''states Liam tickling him before picking up and turning Tom upside down & then continues to tickle his ticklish spot, which is his stomach.''Daddy please put me down; we need to think of what kind of cookies we are doing, for the bake-off?'' states Thomas excitedly, wanting to make his mom's favorite kind of cookies. Which are Peanut Butter Blossoms, and one of the reasons behind her favorite cookies is being able to eat as many Hershey kisses, that she and Thomas desire until they feel sick to their stomachs. Liam doesn't know anything about it because they would finish snacking on the Hershey kisses hours before he got home,& then settle their upset stomachs with Ginger ale & Saltines.
''Your right; we do, so what are we thinking? Snowflakes, Christmas trees?'' asks Liam curiously, thinking what kind of cookies would win the competition? Thomas shakes his head, as his dad is entirely wrong about what type of cookie he is thinking? Thomas has his dad crouch down; that way, he can whisper it into Liam's ear.''Peanut Butter Blossoms''whispers Thomas is quietly not wanting anyone to hear, especially Hazel with being the enemy even though they both adore her. Liam smiles '' yes, most definitely, your mom is most definitely beaming from above hearing that we are making her number one favorite cookies, ''says Liam.
As Hazel gets a brilliant idea though to make the competition a little more exciting & possibly challenging yet festive.''One disclaimer though whatever cookies you decide to do need to be Christmas or Holiday themed ''tells Hazel as she already knows what kind of cookies she will be making. Liam and Thomas both look at each other after hearing those words and say at the same time,'' we need a new idea.''I know what we are going to do, as he goes over to his mom, do you still have that recipe of great-grandma's Glazed Chocolate Snowflake Sugar Cookie''whispers to his mom that way? No one else can hear them.''Yes, I do; why are you thinking of Making them for the competition?'' asks Avery, hinting, knowing that her son will win if he uses this cookie recipe. Seeing how famous those Snowflake cookies were. When grandma Gracie served them every year from December first until Christmas Eve, the town's people couldn't get enough of the Snowflake cookies & never understood why The Candy Cane Cafe stopped putting them out the day before Christmas. They never served them on Christmas day because the cafe was always closed to be with family. After that, they continue to sell the cookies up to the last available day on New Year's Eve.''For sure, what better than a Brown to use the recipe from another Brown''smirks Liam as he has always been highly competitive, & has been that way ever since he was about four and his parents took him bowling for the very first time.
Two to three hours have passed, which means it's time for Liam & Hazel to present to the judges their own Christmas cookie for the Christmas Cookie Bake-Off.''Alright, Hazel you are up first; what special treat do you have for us?'' asks Avery curiously, even though she knows for a fact, that her Liam will definitely win for sure. Plus, being able to gloat all over town about how her family's famous cookie recipe won the competition. Even though there is no prize, being able to say that the Browns have won yet again, will be icing on top of the cake.''I have my specialty Sugar Cookie Truffle Balls for you all, as she places the plate on the table. As all three judges received a Sugat Cookie Ball, I made these with crushed sugar cookies, cream cheese, vanilla. They are dipped in White Chocolate, and then I put some festive holiday sprinkles on top after they have chilled'' says Hazel to Holly, Avery, & Caleb.
''I think they are excellent; however, I would have liked to see something a little more creative; however, they are an eight in my judgment, ''tells Holly.
''These remind me of a cake pop that my grandson would eat, which is very creative.''Well done, I would give it a seven ''tells Avery.
''Honestly, I am not a big Sugar cookie fan, so it's hard for me to even say anything about this, so on that note, I would have to give this a three ''tells Caleb.
''Thank you, Hazel, as she looks to her right at Liam & Thomas. Okay, boys you are up; what special treat do you have for us?'' asks Avery smiling, knowing that her son & grandson are going to win for sure, seeing that she already knows what it is? Or at least she thinks she knows what it is? '' We have a Peppermint Sugar Cookie Blossom for you, the sugar cookie has bits of candy canes baked inside of it and on top is a Candy Cane Hershey kiss ''says Liam to his mom, sister, & older brother in law. Thomas then gives each of his family members a cookie, as they all try it ''I love the crunchy bits of the candy canes inside of the Sugar cookie it definitely gives it the perfect amount of sweetness, I also love the candy cane Hershey kiss on top very well done it's a ten for me ''tells Holly eating every bite of it because it was that good.
''These are amazing, and they remind me of Zoey's Peanut Butter Blossoms, except they are replaced with Peppermint very creative, and they definitely bring you into the Holiday mood, ten for sure, ''says Avery smiling, knowing that her son is going to win for sure.
''I love them definitely a ten, and as I said before that, I am not a big fan of Sugar Cookies, but with adding the Peppermint to them, it adds that crunch of the candy canes which melts in your mouth ''says Caleb thinking to himself he needs to ask Liam for the recipe.
''Alright Liam, & Hazel give us a few minutes to decide ''says Avery even though they know who is already going to win, they don't even have to discuss it but they are just doing this to be fair. After a few minutes of discussing it over with one another,'' The winner is the Peppermint Sugar Cookie Blossoms''says Avery smiling that her family won The Bake-Off.
