'He didn't know.' The phrase kept repeating itself in my head. The warden, didn't know that the griffin could shift back and forth between a human and an animal. If the warden was unaware that meant everyone else is too. This explained why I encountered him first wandering the grounds alone ; no one even knew he existed, at least not in that form.
I saw the warden move and shift toward me out the corner of my eye. He sat up now and had brought his face close to mine. "I see you know what I'm talking about." he stated. I remained silent. The less I talked, the less I gave away.
His chuckle broke the silence. "What to do?" he questioned aloud. "How should I handle this?"
He placed my chin between his thumb and index fingers, forcing me to look him in the face. I blinked hard a few times, trying to wake myself up and force myself out of this nightmare. I began to panic. Should I just tell him? The warden smirked and turned away from me. "It seems like you're having trouble complying so," he said carrying a metal tray full of.. surgical tools! Oh my gosh! OH MY GOSH! He wouldn't use them, would he? "I'll make you an offer you can't refuse." he proclaimed proudly. He knew he had the upper hand. He could see the unhidden fear on my face. I felt panic and dread drown my thoughts. I couldn't think, I couldn't move. All I could focus on, was the pain I might possibly experience. I closed my eyes tightly in an effort to calm myself down. WHAT COULD I DO? I tried pulling on the shackles again, flailing my four limbs around crazily.
My bulging eyes followed his movements closely. I watched him like a hawk. My throat was dry and my heart was pounding.
"Now I'll ask again," he declared "who were you talking to?"
