"Hey did you hear me?" I asked when the warden failed to move or react. "I said I'll tell you everything. Now can you please let me go? I'm tired of being strapped down like this. I can't even think, there's blood rushing to my head."
It was quiet.
I turned back around concerned.
"Hey are you o-" I was interrupted by a low growl. Wait.. a growl?!
I looked up at the warden whose eyes were wide with fear and curiosity? "Did you hear that?" I whispered at him. He slowly turned to me, looking pale and haunted; a swift nod was his reply. We both looked at each other for a long time, still and listening until I broke the silence and asked. "Is it the beast? T - the griffin I mean. Do you think that's him? Did it escape?"
" I don't know." he whispered back in a small voice. He seemed to be lost in thought - probably just as perplexed as I was about the whole ordeal. The craziness of it all was not lost on me.
First, I was wrongly admitted to this hospital by my aunt solely out of spite.
Then, I met a man that can somehow turn into an animal, or at least has the same eyes as one.
You know, it sounded like a lot in my head but, still it's still more than the average person will ever see or know in their lifetime. The sound of banging on the door brought me back. Did he come for me? I thought. This wouldn't be the first time and I'm sure it wasn't a coincidence.
The metal door, designed to keep patients in, was struggling to keep the beast out. And as it groaned in protest, the warden began to barricade the door, pushing my bed and several chairs in front of it. He moved out of the way just in time as the piece of steel soon fell victim to his mighty paws.
The warden, wrought with fear held me in front of him, simultaneously pressing the scalpel to my neck. I gasped, stunned by his audacity. The beast growled harder when he saw him. Shoving the pile of furniture out of the way he padded toward us growling low.
"Give her to me." The warden shook at the sound of his voice. "She's mine." the beast declared.
