I was at loss for words.
"There is no need to worry, you are safe and sound." Jason looking at me sympathetically.
"H-how can I not!? Do you know of any other Royal Bloods?! Cause I sure don't!" I said, trembling my words.
"If he is as smart and wealthy as you say, and I'm a Royal Blood? Who is to say he isn't trying? What if HE sent Caroline? But blamed Mark?! Oh my head is spinning." I had to sit down. This was too much.
"No one is taking you from me again. Do you hear me Isabelle?" Jason stood and his voice was harsh and stern.
I nodded blinking back the tears. He came over to me and hugged me. He didn't let me go, until Richard and Julie said they needed to headed home.
"Princess, please. It is probably just a silly myth." He said waving his hands in the air dramatically.
I laughed in response to his reaction and said goodbye . I gave Julie a big hug. Julie had started to really grow on me. I watched as they left, I didn't move until they were out of sight.
"Jason, Can I ask you something?" I said as we walk upstairs.
"Of course my love."
"Why can't Julie do the spell? The one we need?" I asked, and he turned to me.
"Julie... is only half witch. She has been practicing for as long as I can remember. She cannot do the spell because you have to be full witch in order to do Deep Magic."
"Oh. Makes sense. She can do some pretty cool spells though." I said smiling.
He nodded and continued to go upstairs. "My love, I have some things I need to tend too for a bit. Will you be okay?" He asked looking concerned.
"Yes, I was going to go to the library and read." He pulled me in and kissed me.
"I could be here like this with you all day." I whispered to him, not letting go yet.
He smiled, "Same Princess."
I watched him walk to his study, and I headed for the Library.
I was on my way there when I walked past, a door. The door that changed so much for me. Mhm, I wonder If... No No No, I just need to go to the library and not get into any trouble today.
But... What If I learned how to use my magic? I could help in some way...
Before I knocked, he said "Come in dear child." I stood there, how in the world did he know? I'm starting to see everyone here has heightened hearing and seeing.
I opened the door slowly and walked in the room. I closed the door softly behind me.
I looked over and saw Alexander by the table mixing stuff together.
"What can I do for you?" Alex said not looking at me.
"I... I was wondering If you... could help me control my magic..." I said softly, scared of his response. The last time I came to him, things ended badly, well kind of. I knew he probably didn't want to help again unless Jason ordered it, but It was worth a shot.
"Ah. Well. I think that would be a splendid idea. But, I think Sir. Jason should be aware of it." He said looking at me and basically telling me he won't help me unless Jason approves.
"He is taking care of some things in his study. I didn't want to disturb him... I don't want to do anything crazy. Is there not any simple tricks you can teach me? I'm sure he won't get mad if you helped me control it." I said quietly, hoping he would agree. I hate walking around like a ticking time bomb.
He scratched his head and turned to me. "I Guess, sure. Come here." He said and motioned me to sit on the couch.
I jumped a little and screeched, he shook his head and said, "You are a risky one, firecracker." I felt my face turn red in response and looked down at my lap.
"So. The first thing you need to know is, your magic gets triggered. You will learn over time on what exactly triggers your magic. Then you control it when in those situations. It takes a lot of practice, firecracker. You have to concentrate very hard on it and what you want."
He said as he locked eyes with me, "You cannot FREAK OUT, otherwise you will explode. Do you understand?" I shivered and nodded my head.
"Alright, so, do you know what triggers your magic?"
"Well... I was able to tap into it when I was kidnapped by Mark. I used my hands to melt the bars on the window. I thought about how my mother was out there somewhere, how I was stuck against my will and being used for my blood..." I looked away and could feel myself start to get upset.
"Listen, Princess, You have to be able to talk about these things. Otherwise training will be nearly impossible." Alex said softly.
I nodded slowly, "I closed my eyes and pictured fire coming from hands. I imagined how It felt when my hands were on fire and that tingly feeling."
"Okay very good. Remembering the feeling of it is really important. Was there any other times it has happened?" Alex asked looking at me with a soft expression.
"Well... yes. I was riding to the cabin with Jason and holding his hands. I burned his hands." I said feeling my stomach turn at the memory.
"Okay, what were you thinking about when you did that?"
"I was thinking about... my mother. How I was praying she wasn't being tortured." I said looking down again.
"Okay, any other times?" Alex asked, not looking at me. He paused as he was writing notes down.
"The other time was when I was talking to Richard and Jason held me to make the feeling go away and distract my mind."
"Did Richard say anything about your mother you didn't like?" He asked with his eyebrows raised.
I had to think and remember the conversation.
"Ah. It was about doing Deep Magic to find my mother. Richard said it is dangerous basically and that's why it is forbidden here. I got angry because I have been trying to get her back for so long... and we may have a way and he tried to shoot it down."
"Okay so, it seems like your mother is your trigger." He said as he started writing again.
"So now we know what triggers you, now you learn control."
"Okay."
"Alright, I am going to trigger you and I will walk you through the steps okay? Close your eyes and listen carefully."
I nodded and closed my eyes.
"I am going to place my hands on your head and place a scenario into your mind for you to react to it, okay?" Alex said as he placed his on my head.
I nodded as I kept my eyes closed.
I heard him mumbling then as soon as he stopped, I felt my body shift and it was like he zapped me in another world.
"Isabelle! Hurry!" I heard someone screaming from behind me. I turned around and saw Jason behind me out of breath.
"What?"
"We have to go now if you want to get your mother! We are running out of time!" He said as he turned around and kept riding.
"Wait! Wait for me! I don't have a horse!" I said running after him. Suddenly, There was a horse next to me. This all felt so... real. Like I was actually here. The sky was dark and cloudy. We were riding in the woods and it felt like I could not catch up.
"ISABELLE! She is over here!" Jason screamed back to me.
I looked over and saw horses surrounding a tree. There were Knights standing around the tree and when one moved I saw my mother tied to the tree. I immediately felt myself get angry. I could feel the adrenaline start to kick in. I started to head over when Jason stopped me.
"No. We will go around and surprise them." He whispered. Good point.
I followed Jason's lead until we got closer.
"Mom!" I whispered as loud as I could. She turned and looked around, once she found me It was like my heart stopped. I missed her so much. Seeing her tied to a tree, triggered me.
I could feel my body get warm and then my hands started to get really hot. I looked down and saw my hands shaking.
"Concentrate Firecracker, concentrate on holding it. Concentrate on keeping it inside until you need it." Alex said, I whipped around and saw him standing behind me.
"How?" I was so confused.
"Just listen to me. Focus." Alex said quietly. I nodded and looked back at my mother.
"We will go behind and cut her free. You can cut her free while I distract them, Okay?" Jason said quietly.
Before I could answer, he was gone. I looked at my mom and mouthed, "Sh". She understood and looked around at the Knights. I got as close as I could before I heard something off in the distance. I looked over and saw a wild bear in the field. The Knights all headed to the bear to kill it, one Knight stayed to stand guard of my mother. This was it, my chance. The Knight stood about a foot from my mother, but not facing her. I went up behind the tree and put my hands on the rope.
I concentrated and picture fire in my hands, and they started to get warmer and warmer. I closed my eyes and remembered what It felt like to have the magic flowing through me, It started to work!
Jason appeared in the trees near me, "Hurry! They are heading back!" He said to me. Crap, I needed more time. I looked around and Alex was gone.
I looked back down at the ropes and closed my eyes, concentrate Iz you can do this. I could the Knights getting closer, laughing and cheering that they killed the beast of a bear. I could feel myself get anxious and lose focus. My hands were warm and tingly but how come they were burning the rope? I don't understand.
Suddenly I was pulled back into the room with Alex. I was sweating all over and wiping my hands on my clothes.
"Why couldn't I do it? I felt the feeling, But nothing happened?"
"You have to have confidence. You have to know you can do it. Even the smallest ounce of doubt, can prevent you from doing it. You are use to using right away, you are not use to channeling it and toning it down when needed."
I sighed, "Can we try again? Please?"
"I think you should take a break, and come with me." I turned really fast and saw Jason standing in the doorway, smiling.
Alex stood and bowed, "Sir. Jason." Jason nodded and looked back to me.
"I'm happy you want to control it. I think that would be a wonderful idea my love. You may come back, but there is something you need to do first." Jason said as he walked over to me and put his hand out to me.
"O-Okay. Thank you Alex, see you later." He bowed to us and we left.
"Where are we going?" I asked walking next Jason, holding his arm.
He smiled, "You need to be fitted for ball gown."
I jumped a little and screeched. This is gonna be fun.
