We were woken up to a loud crash. Me and Jason looked at each other and jumped out of bed. We put our robes on and flew downstairs.
"What Is going on down here?!" Jason roared.
As soon as we got downstairs, there was Knights by the Dungeon door.
"Sir! Sir! Over here! Quick!" One of the Knights said, and we both went over to him.
"She got out of her cell, and is trying to escape! We have the Dungeon blocked but we don't know how to get her back in!" One of the knights screamed.
"LET ME OUT!!!" Caroline screamed on the top of her lungs.
Jason walked over to the Dungeon door and said, "Caroline, It would be best if you go back in your cell. You do NOT want me to have to go through these doors and do it myself. You will go to a place with no windows and no interaction at ALL. Is that what you want?" Jason said sternly, but also with a hint of compassion. I wanted to be mad, but I knew he had to sweet talk her to get her to listen.
"NO! LET ME OUT!" Caroline replied, obviously not listening.
A maiden approached us and said, "Sir. Jason, you have a visitor."
"RIGHT NOW? I'M A LITTLE BUSY AT THE MOMENT!" Jason yelled back to her, she was about 6 feet away from us. You could tell she didn't want to come any closer, and honestly, I don't blame her.
"Would you care for some help, cousin?" Me and Jason whipped our heads and saw Richard and Julie walking over to us.
I half smiled at them both and they bowed to Jason. I looked at Julie, "Is there a spell you can do to make her fall asleep so we can put her back in her cell?" She nodded and walked over to Jason, "May I?"
Jason looked hesitant, but nodded and moved over.
Julie started mumbling and she did some odd movement with her hands and then the banging stopped. Nobody moved or said a word. We waited another few minutes and it was still quiet. Jason walked by Julie and peeked in the Dungeon window.
"Is... Is she asleep?" I whispered. He nodded and motioned the Knights to come to him. Jason opened the door slowly, and the Knights went to get her. She was laying against the wall, asleep. The Knights picked her up and took her back to her cell. Jason went with them to make sure nothing happened in the process.
I waited outside the Dungeon with Richard and Julie.
"What brought you both here today?" I asked quietly, and closing my robe so it was covering me.
"We figured, we would come to you today and we have some good news to share." Richard said smiling.
"Wonderful, let us get dressed and we will meet you back in the main hall?" Jason said walking out of the Dungeon.
Richard nodded and him and Julie went to the main hall. Me and Jason went upstairs, got dressed and came back down.
We found them and Jason said to go to the garden and we can talk there.
We sat at a table in the garden, it was relaxing sitting in the garden.
"So, what is the good news?" I asked, anxiously waiting.
"Well, the witch that did the spell agreed to visit us. She will be here tonight. I did not think she would come again on such short notice. Also, your blood is helping so much. He fed himself today and showered without help." Richard said, I couldn't help but smile at Julie. She had the biggest grin on, and it made me feel good, knowing I was helping her son get better, was such a rewarding feeling.
"Oh that is amazing news! I hope he will continue to get better!" I said clapping my hands to her.
She giggled, "Yes my dear. He wants to meet you and personally thank you."
"Well, he can do so at the ball." Jason said to Julie.
"BALL?" I asked, knowing my face lit up at the word. I couldn't help it. Every girls dream is to go to a ball.
Everyone started chuckling at my response, "What?! It is every girls DREAM to go to one! You don't hear of them happening in the mortal realm." I said shrugging my shoulders. "When is this ball?" I asked eagerly.
"Slow down Princess. It isn't for another few days. We have time." Jason said to me softly.
"Well good then. So Richard, did you happen to ask if she could do Deep Magic?" I asked curiously.
"Well.. no. I figured we could ask her in person. I want no one to hear of us doing this so I can trying to keep it as hush hush as possible." He said leaning to the table in a whisper tone.
"Mhm. Makes sense." I said.
"Do you want to take my blood now? While you are here? I am sure we have stuff here you can use?" I asked Julie.
"Yes, I will get a maiden to grab the things you need. Come with me." Jason said as he stood up. Julie followed him back inside.
"How are you holding up, Princess?" Richard asked once they were out of sight.
"I'm okay. I just feel like something crazy happens every day now. I want to wake up and not be in a panic state... you know?"
"Ah. Yes I do know. I am sorry. I hope things calm down soon for you." He said smiling at me. It still has me in shock how much they resemble each other. You would think they were brothers and not cousins. I guess their family has some strong genes.
"Are you guys hungry?" Jason said as he returned with Julie with supplies in her hand and his. I nodded to him. "Okay, can we go inside and eat though? It is kind of cold out here."
Jason nodded and so did they, they followed Jason and I to the dining area.
There were maidens already putting food on the table as we walked in. The smell of the food made my stomach rumble.
I sat down and Julie started to set up my arm and started taking my blood. I used my other hand to eat.
Richard clears his throat, "I have to ask... what was that all about this morning?"
"Who Caroline?"
"Yes." Richard looked like he didn't know if he should ask or not.
"Well.. do you care If we share it with them, Jason?" I asked quietly.
"That is fine." He said and looked back down at his plate and kept eating.
"So basically, Caroline shape-shifted in my mother. She came here and pretended to be her. She was working with... Kyle, and they were trying to split us up. We caught them whispering in the hall. She said my mother is in Unmarked Territory but does not know exactly where. Oh and, she has this crazy obsession with Jason." I may have been dramatic on the last sentence... but only a little.
"Oh wow, well okay then. So she was trying to escape? Where does she live?" He asked, looking at Jason.
"She is a... princess." He replied sharply.
Richard stopped mid eating, his eyebrows were raised, "Wait. She is a princess? AND you have her as a prisoner?! Is her father aware of this? I don't want anyone coming after you with any wrong intentions, cousin."
"He knows. He came here and we spoke and she is to stay here until I say so." He said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Who... is her father? Which kingdom is she from?" Richard asked, then continued to eat.
"She is from Mesitalion. Her father and I have many alliances together. Her father... is King John Charles." He said looking right at Richard.
Richard stopped mid-eating and Julie even stopped and looked at Jason.
"Uh. Did you say... John Charles? THE John Charles?!"
"Yes. That is what I said." Jason said not looking at either of them and continues to eat.
"Can someone please tell me what the big deal is about him? Lost little lamb over here." I said pointing at myself.
Richard stopped staring at Jason and turned me, "You don't know?" He said shaking his head and looking directly at me.
"He is the most well- known King in our realm. He has many allies and is very... very wealthy, Princess. Most people are terrified to even cross him. He has eyes and ears... everywhere. The man always get what he wants. " Richard shivered at the last part.
"Oh I see... Well, He didn't strike me as that type of person." I shrugged my shoulders and kept eating. Julie finished and wrapped my arm up. She started to eat as she turned her chair to the table. The maidens brought out fresh food for her.
"So, why is it such a big deal he has her locked away?" I asked Richard.
Jason quickly replied before Richard could say anything, "Don't say a word Richard." His voice stern and he looked so serious.
"Okay Seriously? I thought we were past the secrets here." I waved my hands up in defeat and leaned back in the chair with my arms crossed.
Jason turned to me, "My love, I don't want you to know because... you will worry about it and there is no need too."
"Okay now you have to tell me." I sat up in the chair, with my arms still crossed, but I locked eyes with Jason.
"There is a... rumor you could call it, that King John Charles, has been looking for a Royal Blood to breed so he can have it in his blood line and his Kingdom. You are... the only Royal Blood in the last decade that has come, that is a... female."
