Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Being a Pet

(A/N: Alright, I'm just gonna say that Kent and Kenneth are both blonde while Maria has red hair. All three of them have brown eyes.)

(Kent) "Asch, did you take my slippers again? They're not pillows, you know."

I want to follow your orders and all... but your slippers are so comfortable. I don't want to move at all. Wait– don't take them! Aww...

I could hear a whine coming out of my mouth. Before I knew it, a shadow had loomed over me. I looked to see Kenneth glaring at me. Oh boy.

(Kenneth) "Hey there, Asch. Could you help me with hunting some food for supper?"

Uh, sure. There isn't really any harm in helping. Besides, even though I'm still 8 months old, I've grown bigger in size than the wolves on Earth. I stood up on all fours before barking in agreement. Somehow, this just all felt so natural to me.

It seems Kenneth understood and signaled me to follow him. We wandered around aimlessly before I smelled something.

(Kenneth) "You smell something, boy?"

I followed the trail of scent and Kenneth was right behind me. At the end, I found a herd of elk gathering around a nearby river. It seems they were only stopping by for a drink.

Kenneth pulled out his bow and arrow. He aimed it towards one of the elk. He held it... and fired. Headshot!

The herd of elk got frightened and ran away. I noticed one of them straying away from the others so I confronted it. Instead of running to the opposite direction, it charged towards me. Ho, does he think he can take me on?

Wrong decision!

I aimed for his neck and took him down. It struggled to escape but my jaws were too strong. Feeling pity on the animal, I snapped its neck and ended its suffering.

[LEVEL UP]

Ooh, I leveled up! I should be around Level 9 now... But before that, I carried the elk corpse towards Kenneth, who seemed to be shocked of what I did.

(Kenneth) "That's impressive, Asch! Who's a good boy?"

He said, scratching me behind the ears. Having a sense of accomplishment... it made me feel good. In my past life, all I did was just eat, play and sleep.

Since I was huge, I thought it was fine if I carried all of the carcasses from now on. It wasn't really a big deal.

When we got home, Maria and Kent just stared at me, shocked. Was it really that shocking? I mean, even Kenneth was like that.

Well, in the end, we all got to eat supper.
