Kent has been packing his clothes all day. I can smell something fishy here. Like literally.
(Asch) "Hey Kent, what are you doing?"
His breathing hitched.
(Kent) "I-It's nothing, Asch."
That was a clearly a lie. How do I know? Well, I've been lying most of my life. So I know whether a person is lying or not. You could call me an expert, if you'd like.
(Asch) "That was a bad lie."
He stopped. All of a sudden, he hugged me.
(Kent) "I'm so sorry, Asch."
Tears ran down his face.
(Asch) "Sorry for what?"
(Kent) "...I'm leaving."
My eyes widened at those words. He was leaving?
(Kent) "School is starting and my grandparents want me to go. I won't be returning for some time. I'm gonna miss you so much, Asch..."
...
I licked away his tears, trying to comfort him as he sobbed.
(Asch) "Don't worry, I'll wait here for you. Same goes for your parents. It's not like you're not gonna see us ever again."
He wiped away his tears.
(Kent) "Y-Yeah."
In a few hours, Kent's grandparents came to pick him up. We all pulled each other into a family hug, including me.
As I saw him leave in a carriage, my vision went blurry. I was crying. Maria and Kenneth turned to me with a shocked expression. Who knew wolves could cry?
No matter what happens... I'll be waiting for you.
My best friend.
