Chereads / Werewolf Huntress / Chapter 9 - Nine

Chapter 9 - Nine

"I just hope you do the right thing," Zedicus said. "Well, it wasn't a pleasure being in all your midst. Which is why I have to leave. See you all on the next half moon because I know deep down that no solution would be found before then. The two people involved are too stubborn, au revoir," He concluded and disappeared into thin air.

The entire day had passed them and the sun had already set long. It was dark outside. They hadn't noticed how fast the time had gone since they were so engrossed and worried about finding a solution.

Draco with his long robes saw it as a cue to leave as well. "I am relieved that I can finally leave this place. I hope I don't ever have to come here again. I hope I never see your annoying faces again," Draco said before vanishing completely. As a vampire, he was expected to possess such speed. He was fast.

Only Damon's family and Alexia's were left in the room. Alexia stared at her parents waiting to hear them talk about leaving too but they remained silent.

"Is it that you guys have become so comfortable with one another or what? Dad, we are sworn enemies, remember? We should be leaving too. This is our cue!" She voiced out as she gestured at freedom which just laid beyond the door.

"I don't think we should leave just yet," Lucy Luther said. This was the first time she had spoken. She had been quiet the whole time.

A shocked gasp escaped Alexia's mouth. She couldn't believe her parents. Werewolves were their most sworn enemies and they never even sat for a chat. She couldn't even understand why her parents were buying any of the crap stories.

"Mom, we have to leave. Just because Damon claimed I'm his mate doesn't even mean it's true. What if he's mistaken?" Alexia questioned her parents.

"Don't you dare toy with werewolf culture. We don't run around calling just anyone our mate. It's a gift blessed by the Moon goddess herself!" Damon snapped.

"Maybe you're getting it all wrong. If she truly did this to you then it's not a gift! It's a curse! I'm your curse! She's probably getting back at you for murdering my grandparents!" Alexia retorted.

"You keep talking about your grandparents. What about the innocent werewolves your people killed? You think you're safe? Well you aren't. If I'm cursed then, so are you! We have both been cursed by the Moon goddess!!" Damon exclaimed.

"Can't you people stay one minute without fighting like children?" Greg cut in.

"It's as if the little chance they get to come at each other they take it and start exchanging words! You're not children! Stop fighting like children!" Nessa cut in.

"So long as I remain here and breathe the same air as he does, then we'll keep fighting like this. I cannot stand being in this cold blooded murderer's presence!" Alexia snapped.

It was almost as if Nessa's words hadn't meant anything to her.

"So are you! You're a murderer as well! Isn't it you people who killed mine and beheaded them? Do you think that makes you any better? You're a murder! A cold blooded murder!" Damon retorted and there was pain laced in his voice.

He had remembered the sight of his dead mate when he saw her. She had been beheaded and her blood had pooled around her. She had been so helpless. She had called him but he hadn't heard her. It was almost as if their link had been severed.

"Didn't I just scold you people about fighting? Fighting isn't going to get us anywhere!" Nessa tried again.

"Then I'm done here. I wonder why I'm still here arguing with you! The more I stand here, the more I remember that day and see how monstrous you can be!" She finished and walked out of the pack house.

If her parents wanted to stay with their new found friends then she wasn't going to do the same. It didn't make any sense to her. One moment, her father had hated all these creatures and the other, he was taking their sides. It was as if the moment he realised she was his second-chance mate; was the moment his view and thought about them changed.

He was willing to make a compromise. He was even encouraging the relationship. She didn't understand any of them. It all still didn't make any sense to her but she knew that she was going to get to the root of it all.

Anger still burned in her throat. She had finally come face to face with the pack that had taken away her grandparents and there was nothing she could do about it. She had fantasized about how she was going to kill them all the moment she crossed paths with them. Now she had and she couldn't hurt any of them. They even seemed to have reconciled and were planning on working together to end the common enemy.

Alexia wiped the angry tears that had stolen their way down her cheeks. She didn't like her tears to escape out of her eyes. She always wanted her tears to remain hidden.

Thanks to the werewolves, they were making her reveal her weakness. Her tears always made her feel weak and she didn't like the feeling one bit.

She knew her way around the woods, even if it was already dark. She kept walking through it. She wanted to take the time to clear her mind from all the emotions and thoughts that were racing through her mind. She was tired and exhausted. She felt stressed. She felt mentally stressed.

But that didn't stop her from walking. She kept hiking through the woods until she could walk no more. She stopped to catch her breath. She rested her forehead on a tree like it was an imaginary big brother. The Light Goddess hadn't blessed her with an additional sibling. She remained like that, unmoving as she allowed the thoughts to whisper and scream in her head.

Suddenly, a hand touched her shoulder and she flinched. She turned around in surprise ready to attack whoever it was but her demeanor softened the moment she realised it was just her father.

"What are you doing here Lexi?" Her father asked in a quiet and soothing voice.

"Daddy I'm tired. I'm fed up. I just want to go home and I can't even seem to find the house," Alexia complained.

"Of course you wouldn't be able to see the house. It's still miles away. You can't possibly find your way there on foot. It'll take you so long and it's already dark," Aaron explained.

Alexia looked around as if just realising she was in the woods now. Her father was right. What had she been thinking?

"I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. I'm just too confused and worked up," She whispered.

Her father pulled her into a big hug. "It's okay sweetheart. Your father is here for you," He patted her back.

Then he held his daughter and led her to the car where Lucy was waiting looking all worried. The moment she set eyes on them, relief washed over her.

Aaron opened the car door and Alexia got into the back. Aaron got in the driver's seat and brought the car to life.

Alexia wondered to herself. Aaron would have never in his right mind left Lucy alone in the car in the middle of the werewolf's territory; but he had done it and it fascinated her. It was funny how one little thing could change everything. But she wasn't going to let her hatred for the werewolves go so easily. In actual fact, she was never going to let go of her hatred for them. Never!

She wasn't like the rest of the other creatures. The car soon stopped before their house and she hurriedly went straight into her room. She first took a cold bath and washed away the entire day's stress.

She changed into her nightgown and went on to her balcony. She wanted to get some fresh air and allow her emotions to settle.

In one day, she had learnt about a prophecy which had everything to do with her. On that same day, she had learnt that she was her sworn enemies' supposed mate. The same person who led the attack on her grandparents. How could the goddess of light write such a fate for her? Maybe Damon was right. They were both getting punished for their sins.

This was the only explanation. Asides that, it was all a crap story that they were being fed. Crap story or not, those three guys were real and they were a big threat.

She looked down and her eyes caught something in the darkness of the night, outside of her house. She gasped when she realised what it was.

Crimson orbs glowed in the darkness of the shadows and slowly, it faded away into the night like it never existed.

The odd ones were out there, watching her…
