Damon woke up feeling very weak. He dragged himself out of his bed and took a quick shower. He picked a white shirt that exposed some of the Phoenix on his chest. He took a dark pair of pants and brown combat boots.
He went down for breakfast. Ryan was already seated there having his breakfast. Amelia was the house cook and she brightened up the moment she spotted him.
"A good morning to you Alpha Damon. I hope you had a splendid sleep," The slender Amelia said. She had dark neck length hair and dark big eyes. She was wearing a dark gown.
Ryan smiled at her and continued on with his food.
"Good morning to you too Amelia," Damon answered her before taking his seat.
Amelia hurriedly brought the breakfast she had made for Damon. It was salted potatoes and scrambled eggs. Damon smiled at her and she served his food. She was a shy person. She didn't dare look him in the eyes. When she was done, she scurried back into the kitchen.
Ryan looked up as if just noticing Damon for the first time and flinched. Damon stared back at him in alarm.
"What's wrong?" Damon demanded.
"You don't look so good man, you look pale. Didn't sleep at all?" Ryan asked.
"At first it was hard, but eventually; sleep came and took me to another world," Damon answered nonchalantly.
"Damon, you look pale. I've never seen you this pale before. Or maybe you should see a doctor?" Ryan suggested.
"Werewolves never get sick. There's nothing wrong with me. I'm just tired and exhausted. That's all," Damon assured him.
Ryan raised his hands up in defeat. He wasn't ready to start any argument with Damon, so he gave up.
Damon suddenly looked around as if searching for something.
"Have you seen Ciara at all today?" Damon asked.
"I saw her leave earlier on. She said she was going for a hike. She was the only one who knew the destination to where she was going," Ryan said.
"I'm sure she's still angry with me. She's probably avoiding me. I'll find a way to make it up to her. I understand I was a bit harsh on her last night," Damon voiced out.
"I don't actually think you did anything wrong. You were stressed and you wanted to be alone. Is it wrong to want to be alone?" Ryan asked.
Damon sighed. "You know how women can be. They're a handful sometimes. They love to be given special attention. They want to be pampered every time," Damon explained.
"This is the reason why I like to remain single until the Moon goddess blesses me with a mate," Ryan added.
"I'm done here. I should go see how my people are doing after the red moon and also think of how we're going to end the doom that is about to befall us," Damon said as he got to his feet.
Ryan laughed at his sarcasm but remained quiet. As Damon was about to walk away. Sudden pain seized him. He brought his hands to his chest and clutched it hard. The pain burned him and he lost his balance.
Ryan came to his side immediately and helped him up. Then he placed Damon on a chair. Damon still had a pained expression as his eyes remained shut.
Slowly, he opened his eyes and the pain started to fade away.
"What just happened man? What was that?" Ryan blasted him with questions.
Even Amelia had joined them in the room.
"I felt sudden pain befall me. It hurt me so much that I could not keep my balance," Damon explained.
"I'll be damned!" Ryan exclaimed.
"What's wrong? What do you know?" Damon questioned him.
"It's the mate bond. You have refused to accept each other. It's beginning to affect you because you're the werewolf here. She's a Huntress, I don't think she'll be really affected by this," Ryan explained.
Damon laughed out loud. It was a sarcastic laugh. It was a painful laugh. He was miserable.
"First the Moon goddess gives me a mate and takes her away. Then she gives me a second chance mate who obviously wants nothing to do with me. The feeling is also mutual by the way. Now she's causing me pain. How worse can it get?" He asked out loud.
Ryan pitied his Alpha and friend. He wanted to help him but he didn't know how he was going to do it.
"We'll find a way through this Damon. We will," Ryan assured him.
Damon looked at his friend. He wanted to believe his words but he could not. How were they going to find a way through? Supposedly extinct werewolves were terrorising the two realms. They didn't have any known weaknesses. Damon knew absolutely nothing about them. He was totally blank and in the dark.
Then there was the prophecy thing which was all connected to all the events going on. Damon didn't know what to do. He was totally helpless.
When Damon finally regained his strength, he got on his feet; ready to leave the house.
"I'll come with you," Ryan announced as he abruptly got off his chair.
Damon nodded. Enjoying Ryan's company wasn't a bad idea. They both walked out of the house and started to walk down the streets. People greeted them on the way by either bowing, waving, or just speaking.
The White Flame pack was the place where Damon felt at home. Any other place was just an illusion to him. The real place was this estate. It was where all the members of his pack felt at home. Some of them live in the other realm permanently. They gave him information from over there.
They kept walking through the streets and eventually, Ryan got a phone call.
"You need me there now?" Ryan asked over the phone.
His brows were raised above his face as he listened attentively to whoever was on the other end of the line. When he finished he hung up.
Damon waited for Ryan to tell him who it was instead of just asking.
"That was Nessa on the phone. She said she has some work for me. I have to go," he explained before excusing himself.
Damon watched him leave. What could his mother possibly want with Ryan? He asked himself the question but of course, he didn't get any answer.
He turned his attention back to the road. There was nothing he could do about it until Ryan got back and explained it to him in person.
"Alpha Damon," A familiar voice called from behind him and Damon turned to see who it was.
Damon's face brightened up when he saw who it was.
"Richard, when did you get here? I thought you were still in the human realm," Damon began as he outstretched his hand in greeting.
Richard grabbed it all smiles. "I have missed this place. How long has it been? Five years?" He said as he shook Damon's hand.
Richard had a tanned skin that glowed under the sunlight. He had on dark pants, boots and a dark leather jacket which complimented his bad boy look.
He had relocated to the human realm when he found love over there. It had been hard to believe that the Moon goddess had given him a human mate. But he had been happy about it and had chosen to stay with her in the human realm since he was too scared to bring her into the hunters, vampire, werewolves, witches and warlocks saga. It was too dangerous for his Malia.
"What brings you here? You didn't even call to inform me that you were coming," Damon complained.
Richard, Ryan along with Damon himself had been childhood friends.
"I did try to reach you but I couldn't. It seems like you've gotten yourself into a deep mess," Richard remarked.
"Tell me about it, I don't even know how to handle things here. I'm glad you're here. You can help me out. How's Malia doing?" Damon asked.
"She's just fine. She's the reason I'm here. I need to keep her safe. I saw something strange three nights ago. That's why I came running here as soon as I could," Richard explained.
"What did you see?" Damon asked, his curiosity was at its peak.
"I saw a very fast werewolf with red eyes. He had friends and they oozed danger," Richard explained.
Damon's heart sank. His eyes widened. "They have moved on to the human realm too," he slowly said.
"Who are they, Damon?" Richard asked.
"They're supposed to be extinct werewolves. They have been killing all creatures in our realm every half-moon. We even agreed on working together. You won't believe we were all under the same roof and we didn't slaughter ourselves," Damon explained.
"You're kidding right?" Richard asked in disbelief.
"I swear. I was in the presence of the hunters who killed my mate and I let them go. What's more, I was given a second chance mate and she's a Huntress," Damon went on.
Richard's mouth was left agape.
"We have a lot of catching up to do man. I'll meet you at your house. Still have to say hi to my mom," Richard said before running off.
Damon smiled happily at his friend. He was about to walk back to his house when he heard Ciara's voice ringing in his head.
She was using the Wolf link.
It was hard to make up the words. It sounded too distant and it echoed in his head. He relaxed his mind and listened again and this time he heard the words clearly.
"Help me! Alexia is trying to kill me!"
