Chereads / Werewolf Huntress / Chapter 7 - Seven

Chapter 7 - Seven

Alexia stared at them in confusion. Thoughts raced through her mind. The fact that she saw fear behind Zedicus facade, scared her a lot. A warlock like Zedicus never feared much because he had seen a lot in all his years.

"I had no idea other wolf species existed," she said when she finally found her voice.

"No one is supposed to know because they're supposed to be extinct!" Draco exclaimed.

Everyone flinched at his harsh tone.

"Easy there blood sucker, you're not making the dark mood in the room any better," Zedicus warned.

"If you people hadn't gone and killed them then none of this would have happened," Damon spoke for the first time. He had a fed up expression. Like he could not stand everyone's presence anymore.

"You know deep down that our ancestors did the right thing," Aaron retorted.

"Can anyone explain to me what kind of wolves they are? Everyone seems too worked up about it. What's up about them? Who are they?" Alexia asked the question she had wanted to the moment she set eyes on the ones who kidnapped her.

Everyone remained silent. No one wanted to take the first step in explaining a thing to Alexia. She glared at all of them waiting patiently for their explanations.

"What better way to tell this tale if not the werewolves themselves," Zedicus broke the silence as he gestured at the werewolves.

Alexia's eyes followed his gesture and it came to rest on the four werewolves who were present. One of them she knew to be Alpha Damon. The other male was around Damon's age and she suspected he was his Beta. The other two seemed to be a couple and they were older.

"Don't expect me to explain anything mom, I'm just finding out about some things you kept from me," Damon threw his words to the couple.

So they were Damon's parents, Alexia thought to herself.

The other werewolf remained silent. The older man who Alexia now understood to be Damon's father finally took it upon himself to shed more light on the confusing situation.

"Where do I begin? This all happened a long time ago.." He began as he stared up at the ceiling; as if trying to remember the exact events. "Epsilons are bred when two pure-breed gammas from different packs—since there can only be one gamma in each pack—mate. It's a very rare case."

Alexia nodded her head as she listened attentively to Damon's father. Damon got a chair and gestured at his father to sit. Alexia noticed Damon was also paying attention to what his father had to say.

"Últimas are bred from pure-breed Deltas. This is also a very rare case. Primordials which are even more deadly are bred when pure-breed Alphas mate," The man explained.

"How dangerous are they," Alexia asked.

Zedicus chuckled but Alexia recognised it as the chuckle meant to mask his fear. It kept on troubling her to know that the great Zedicus actually feared something. Just how dangerous were these werewolves?

"More dangerous than you can imagine," Damon's mother replied.

"You see they became deadly the moment they started slaughtering all creatures, werewolves alike. It took more than one Alpha to subdue just one Epsilon and a lot of other werewolves lost their lives in the process," He went on.

Alexia narrowed her eyes as she thought of just how powerful these wolves were.

"Their reign and rampage had gotten out of hand. We couldn't take it anymore. We had to find a way to work it out," He explained.

"So you killed them," Alexia answered for him. There was a look of disapproval in her eyes. " I'm sure even innocents got caught up in the whole mess. Look where killing them got you. You made a good enemy out of them," She spat and there was anger glazed in her brown eyes.

This caught everyone in the room off guard. The couple looked down in shame. So did the rest of the people.

"My grandparents talked of a time when there was no hatred amongst us all. A time when there was peace. Now I'm beginning to understand that it was your clan who broke the world," Alexia spat.

"Watch your mouth, Huntress! Show my parents some respect! You speak as if the other clans didn't have a hand in this. It was agreed and sealed by all clans. It was sworn under the blue flame!" Damon exclaimed as he had already lost his patience.

Alexia gasped as she turned her eyes to her parents. She stared at them in disbelief. They had never told her this story before.

"So you all came together and agreed on hunting down those werewolves?" Alexia asked.

"You know nothing little Huntress! You're just a child! What could we have done?" Draco cut in.

Alexia gritted her teeth in anger. She hated it when someone referred to her as a little Huntress. It felt as if they were reducing and looking down on her. As if they didn't understand her potential.

"It was the only way sweetheart," Aaron finally spoke after being quiet for a long time.

"Well the sins of your past have come back to haunt you all. You people could have come up with a better idea," Alexia pressed on.

"You talk as if you're a saint yourself. Isn't it you hunters who go around beheading other creatures and claim it to be justice or what other word do you use. . . Yes, guardians of the humans?" Zedicus spat.

This hit Alexia hard because she knew he made a point. He made a big point.

"We do it to protect humans from your blood lust! You people go around hurting humans!" Alexia retorted.

"How many humans have you seen us hurting? Just because Vampires have a bloodlust doesn't mean we all do. Or just because one werewolf went rogue and attacked a human doesn't mean they're all bloodthirsty creatures! In Fact I think you people do it so you can feel powerful. You do it to quench your own thirst. You are the real monsters here!" Zedicus snapped. This was a lot words that Zedicus had said in one go. Since she had known of his existence, he had never spoken this much before.

Zedicus words hit her hard and she remained speechless. She didn't know what to say again. For a moment she started to question everything she knew. Hunters had slaughtered a lot of werewolves. They had killed vampires as well as witches.

What if Zedicus was right? What if they had been wrong all these times and slaughtered a lot of werewolves?

But the wolves killed her grandparents right before her eyes. Who gave them the rights to? Indeed they were dangerous and the werewolves deserved to be murdered by Hunters.

"You all are dangerous to humans. We're the only ones strong enough to see past your glamour and see the mythical creature within you. We're the only ones strong enough to protect the humans from you!" Alexia spat back.

"Enough with all this argument! It isn't going to get us anywhere!" Damon's mother exclaimed and everyone suddenly became quiet. "I'm tired of all these accusations! All our lives are at stake and we have to do something about it. Arguing isn't going to get us anywhere!" She scolded them all.

The tension in the air thickened as they were all reminded of the real problem at hand. The problem of the extinct creatures killing everyone.

"What are their known weaknesses?" Damon asked, hoping that he would get an answer.

"That is a wrong question. You should be asking if they even have weaknesses," Zedicus corrected.

"Zedicus is right. As it is, we are all at our weakest during the halfmoon but they seem unaffected by it. I don't think they even have weaknesses," Draco voiced out.

There was no trace of hope in his voice. He sounded defeated.

"The only way we can get through this is if we work together and put all our differences aside for now," Zedicus suggested.

It seemed like it was the only thing they could do. They couldn't think up a better solution. They also all knew that another half moon was around the corner. Whatever they had to do, it had to be done fast. Lives were at stake. Realms were at stake.

Alexia closed her eyes and remembered the speed of those three guys. They were very fast. The only creatures she knew to be an inch as fast were the vampires. These guys were even stronger than vampires. Hunters were no match for them. The fact that they also had other creatures on their side made them even stronger.

She remembered how they wanted her to join them. She hadn't told any of them that they had offered to make her one of them. The odd ones out. She had kept that piece of information to herself.

"One thing I don't understand is this," The werewolf she had suspected to be Damon's Beta spoke for the first time. Everyone turned their attention to him. They were surprised that he hadn't left and that he was still in the room.

"How did you escape them?" He finally asked.
