"The rest of the month?! It's only the 5th! So you're saying that I will be stuck in a cage for the next 26 days? No way! I'm not doing that." Alex said. Alex got up and began to walk towards the door. All of a sudden, he stopped. The air around his shoes began to crystallize. His shoes stuck to the floor, cemented in place by ice. Right. He is the son of a Snow goddess. Of course he could stop him by using ice.
Jake Roo smirked. "Just how many times am I going to have to use this trick today?" He asked.
"Now, I am going to unfreeze you. You will walk back to your seat, sit down, stay there and keep your mouth shut." Jake said. "Anybody else who tries to leave will be frozen to their seat until I say otherwise. Mouths will also be frozen if necessary." Jake said.
He unfroze Alex and the ice melted off him. Water fell into a puddle. Jake pointed his finger to the puddle and Max's guide scurried to one of the corner's and grabbed a cloth. He cleaned up both Alex's and Sarah's puddles. Jake began to talk again, "Each of you have your own enclosure. Each one is sound proof, fireproof, water proof, bullet proof and any other kind of 'proof' you can think of."
"You will be provided with all the essentials. Things such as clothing, shoes, water, food, shampoo, bedding- all will be included. You will be able to exit your 'rooms' to come into the main space but you will not be able to go past that wooden door." Jake Roo said, he pointed to the one and only exit that the room had. Other than that door, there was no other way to get in or out of the room. Not even through a window, because there wasn't one.
"Any questions?" Jake said.
"Will we be able to visit our family's, or have our family's visit us?" Sarah asked. Her concerns for her mother are still fresh in her mind.
"No. You will not be seeing anyone for the next month other than the faces of people you see in this room today." Jake responded.
Sarah's face fell. Her heart dropped to her toes. Her relaxed and calm face turned into a face made of deep sadness, regret, dismay and guilt.
Only Max understood why.
"Can we have cell phone access at least?" Sarah asked, her hopes rising a bit. Only to be crushed once more.
"No access to the internet or communication between other people outside of the room will be granted." Jake explained.
"What! I have a little sister! I need to make arrangements for a place for her to stay! I refuse to stay here while my sister is all alone, by herself." Sarah said, her voice and face filling with rage.
"I am very sorry. I would have granted you permission but these are direct orders from Zeus, king of gods. If you would like the rules to be changed, you can take it up with him. After this month ends." Jake responded, empathy revealed from his voice.
Sarah sat back and crossed her arms. Slouched in her chair, she began to think. Well, Mr. McHall did say that he would help us in any way he could. If I didn't come to pick up Lily by the end of the week… He wouldn't just kick her out. Would he?
No. Mr. McHall wasn't like that. They loved Lily. They also knew that her mom was in the hospital. They wouldn't just kick her out. Once Sarah could leave, she knew she would have to come up with a proper explanation for the McHall family. But she could worry about that later. Right now, there are more dire matter's to be discussed.
Sarah brought herself out of her thought, just in time for Alex to ask a question. "Do we get to pick our own cages? Or are they assigned, like a jail cell?" Alex asked, well, he more stated it.
"Well Alex, they are free for you to choose from. But because of your smart mouth, I have decided that you will have the one closest to my quarters." Jake said with a fake, unapologetic smile on his face. "So if you try and leave again, I WILL hear you leaving."
Alex rolled his eyes, crossed his arms and slouched down in his chair. Sarah noticed how rude he looked and snickered. Then, he realized she was sitting the same exact way as he was so she straightened herself out and put her arms by her side.
"Any Other questions?" Jake asked.
A quiet whimper came from a seat that had been silent throughout the entire meeting. Sarah turned to see who had made the sound and she noticed the girl who sat there. Because the girl had been quiet the entire time, Sarah had forgotten she was even there. She also didn't know her name. The other girl had already been in the room when Sarah entered.
The girl slowly raised her hand. "I-I have a question…" She said.
"I'm sorry dear, what was that? You have to speak up a bit." Jake replied kindly.
"I said, I have a question." The girl responded, her voice only slightly louder than before. Just barely above a whisper but loud enough to be heard.
"Oh yes, of course. You don't need to raise your hand darling. Were all here to speak freely and ask questions. Although I do applaud you manners. Maybe you could give lessons to SOME of the other people in this room." Jake said. Giving Alex a death stare.
"Uh… ok then. Well I-'' She cleared her throat and started again, this time loud and clear. "I was wondering if you knew who our godly parents were."
Now, it was Jake's turn to be embarrassed. He pulled at the collar of his shirt and his face turned slightly red. He gave an embarrassed cough and said, "I apologize but… no. We can not tell you, because… uhh I lost the documents stating your devine relations. We only have a list of the gods that could possibly be your parents. We have to wait until your powers are activated to find out. If they activate.
