The clock hanging on the wall seemed to tick forever. After what felt like hours but was only about 20 minutes, the door swung open again. Sarah's head whipped around to see who it was. Max and another boy stood in the door frame. "You sure took your time." The man said with a disappointed look on his face.
"Well i'm SORRY. I was unaware that there was a time frame in which we were supposed to find a purple wristband in a sea of people." Max said sarcastically, to top it off he gave an annoyed eye roll. To herself, Sarah thought; nice going Max. Nice. Way to get on the good side of the man who is obviously in charge here.
who is obviously in charge here.
The man with the scar over his eye stared at him for a bit before saying, "I like you. You're bold." After a pause he said, "Come and sit down. We have much to talk about." He patted the seat directly next to him and motioned for Max to sit there.
Max hesitated for a moment before he walked over and sat down. "Well children."The man with the scar began to say, "Obviously were here for the same reason. And that reason is to discuss the fact that you are demigods. Demigods hold the device GSPD, or Godly Skill Protection Device."
"To further explain what was said in the letter that you all received, you were given an injection only seconds after your birth. When the needle was inserted, clear colored fluid was shot into your bloodstream. Although it looks clear, I can assure it was not merely water. Little micro-sized pieces of technology were spread throughout your body. Stopping Your godly powers from activation. There are many possibilities on what will happen because of this."
The man began to list things, ticking them off on his fingers as he went.
"One, your divine powers will be no longer. Meaning, because your powers have been unused for such a long period of time, they will not work."
"Two, your power level will increase. This is the option that we hope will happen. If your power level increases, this means that your powers have been stored away somewhere inside your body and you will hopefully become more powerful. Although, your powers will be harder to control because your max level of power is so high for a mere mortal."
"Or, option 3. This would be the worst option. When your powers present themselves, your body will overexert itself trying to contain the powers inside of it. Trying to control it. Then, your body will give out. Your heart will stop pumping blood throughout your body, your brain will shut down. Therefore, you die."
After the man was done listing things, there was a long period of time where nobody said anything. The four demigods digested this information and the man plus the guides searched their faces for any kind of reaction. Sarah was looking at her lap when she lifted her head and asked a question. "Why us?" She said.
"Pardon?" The scar-faced man said.
"Why. Did. You. Choose. Us." Sarah said. Breaking down the words into syllables.
"Well, that is confidential." He replied.
"So, you're telling me that you couldn't tell me why you injected technology into my body without my or my mothers permission or knowledge? You know this is illegal, right! I could call the cops, right now! And they would be here within 5 min-" Sarah was saying until she stopped suddenly.
"What's wrong dear Sarah? Cat got your tongue?" The man said. "More like ice got your tongue." He gave a little laugh, amused at his own joke. He stood up and bowed. "Jake Roo, son of Khione, goddess of the snow and ice."
Sarah was angry. And cold. He had frozen her mouth shut.
"Sarah, darling. You will not be calling the police on us for several reasons. One, they will not believe your story and two, i am the one with all of your answers. So, I am going to unfreeze you and if you know what is for your best interest, you will not say a word." Jake replied.
Sarah felt the ice begin to melt inside her mouth. Her cheeks suddenly bulged as the ice was melted and turned into water. She quickly turned around in her chair and opened her mouth. Water poured onto the floor with a splash. Sarah didn't care. She couldn't have swallowed it because there was too much and the looks she was getting were better than having her mouth frozen shut.
Sarah turned around to face the man again but this time didn't say anything.
"Good girl." he said. He spoke like he was talking to a puppy.
Sarah snarled and gave him dirty looks on the inside but showed no emotion on the outside.
"Now, where were we?" He asked
"You were about to tell us why you took the liberty to put this product into us." Max said.
"I know I said I liked you, but that doesn't mean I won't freeze that rude mouth of yours shut as well." Jake Roo said back.
For once in his life, Max didn't have anything to say.
"Now, because we're not sure what option will take place, we have prepared rooms for you. As you can see, when you look around, you will notice four glass enclosures. This is where you will be staying for the rest of the month. I know that-" He began to say before he was cut off.
"The rest of the month?! It's only the 5th! So you're saying that I will be stuck in a cage for the next 26 days? No way! I'm not doing that." Alex said. Alex got up and began to walk towards the door. All of a sudden, he stopped. The air around his shoes began to crystallize. His shoes stuck to the floor, cemented in place by ice. Right. He is the son of a Snow goddess. Of course he could stop him by using ice.
Jake Roo smirked. "Just how many times am I going to have to use this trick today?" He asked.
