Chapter 16 - Maid Lacy

"In all seriousness, we need to get ready to leave. We have to head to the palace soon. Sarah, I brought something that will be more appropriate for you to wear there. Follow me to my room when we are done eating breakfast." Jenny stated.

They all sat down to eat and Sarah inhaled the heavenly smell of freshly cooked bacon, eggs and pancakes. The eggs had peppers, cheese and ham folded into them, they were a rare thing for Sarah because she usually just ate eggs plain. The pancakes were light and fluffy, she was in paradise. Unfortunately, paradise was over all too soon. Sarah cleared her plate and followed Jenny to her bedroom.

Jenny walked into the closet and came back out holding a dark bag on a hanger, the bag was probably meant to protect a piece of clothing. She handed the hanger to Sarah and pointed to another door across the room saying, "The bathroom is right over there, go ahead and change, I chose the size according to the ball gown that you got."

"Thank you Jenny." Sarah said as she walked into the bathroom to get changed.

Sarah unzipped the bag and pulled out the dress sitting inside. She gasped, her face turning bright red. It was the green dress that she had tried on inside the store yesterday. Sarah didn't want to put it on but knew she didn't have any other choice. She didn't have any appropriate clothing to wear and she couldn't just walk into a palace wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Instead of complaining, Sarah put the dress on and walked out.

When Jenny saw Sarah walk out of the bathroom she gave a delighted smile. "Both the women at the store and myself agreed that the dress was gorgeous on you so I decided to buy it as your dress to arrive at the palace in!" She exclaimed

"Thanks Jenny…" Sarah said with fake enthusiasm.

"Of course, think nothing of it! Now come along, we will put on some basic makeup for now" Jenny said, leading her into the bathroom.

Jenny showed Sarah how to apply the makeup and they walked out of the bedroom to see the boys standing at the door impatiently. "Lets go." Mr. Fredrickson said as he walked out the door, not even looking to see if anybody was following him out. Max caught the door before it slammed shut and held it open for them so they could leave. They all piled into a car provided by the palace and the driver took them for where they would be staying the night.

Sarah turned to Jenny to ask a question, "Jenny? What about our stuff we brought? We left it at the hotel, you said we will only be staying there for a night."

"Don't worry, we will send somebody to pick up our belongings." Jenny answered.

"Oh, ok." Sarah said, feeling a bit stupid.

20 minutes later saw the palace coming into view. It was absolutely beautiful. The walls appeared to be made of pure gold, blue accents could be seen even from the distance that they were at. Max must have seen her amazed look because he laughed as said "If you think that's cool, you should look over here." Max pointed to his window and Sarah saw that over the hill, in the far right corner was a glittering palace. "That was just the tax house." Max explained. "This is the palace.

The palace was made of marble and was extremely large. It looked like it should have popped out of a story book. The front of it had an amazing garden, neatly trimmed grass and meadows of flowers and old oak trees. The top had a huge dome top, multiple towers could be seen behind the castle. Just like the tax house, blue flowers were painted onto the side of the wall. Now that Sarah was closer, she could see that they weren't paintings but instead they were tiny little diamonds, carefully placed in the pattern of a flower. Up close it probably just looked like a bunch of haphazardly placed diamonds but from far away you could see its true meaning.

They finally pulled up to the palace and they got out of the car and walked inside. When they entered, somebody in uniform walked up to them and said "State your business here." Jenny reached into her purse and pulled out 2 things, the first was an invitation and the other an ID. When the guard looked at them he shook his head and said "Permission to enter granted. When you walk through the next entrance, find a maid and ask them to show you to your rooms."

"Thank you sir." Jenny said as she breezed passed him.

Jenny was acting differently then when they were at the hotel. She held her head high and her shoulders pressed back, her hands lay patiently by her side. She looked like she was born to do this, walk around and act like you were perfect and patient. Friendly but superior. Stubborn but kind. She looked like a queen.

They walked through the push doors and quickly found a maid. She was wearing a classic maid outfit, Sarah noticed a purple wristband on her arm and her eyes widened. She noticed Max looking at it too and they exchanged bewildered looks. They had already found a GSPD Guardian! "Hello" Said the maid as they approached "How may I help you?"

"Hello." Answered Jenny, "We're here to attend the upcoming royal ball. A security guard told us that we were to show a maid these." She pulled out her ID and the invitation, handing them both to the maid. The maid looked at them and nodded. "Follow me." She said as she led away.

They walked down a hallway with marble tile and gold walls. Extravagant artwork hung on the walls. Magnificent statues, plants and guards stood in the hallways as well. A few servants could be seen scurrying down the hall. They walked up to the end of the hallway and the maid said "Here are your rooms, one for adults and one for people under 16. Royal guests under the age 16 have to share this room because we are short on rooms from people traveling the country to arrive here. My name is maid Lacy, please let me or any other maids know if you require anything else." Maid Lacy said as she turned around and walked away, leaving them each with a room key.
