Chapter 8 - Chapter 7

It has been 16 days since the beach and I was finally going back home. I was pretty happy because I had someone going back with me. Cole had discussed it with whoever was in charge of him since he wasn't 18 yet and they said yes. He didn't look like he wanted to tell me who he had to talk to so he could come ,and I didn't ask. I remembered that look on his face when I brought up his parents before and I don't think I could see that again, I didn't want to put him through that either.

Cole and I have gotten closer since the beach and some days we would just hang out together instead of staying with the group. I've learned a lot about him and he's learned a lot about me. We played 21 questions on one of the days we were hanging out but it turned into 101 questions instead just thinking about the questions we asked during that game made me laugh, and then everyone around me looked at me like I was crazy.

I buried my head in the book in my hand to shield my face and I waited like that for a good five minutes before I looked up again. I wish Cole was here with me but his flight is a day later than mine and it's in the night so he would be arriving on Sunday. If I was being honest, I really missed him cause there was never a dull moment when I was with him. I'm saying all of this in a purely platonic way. We just kind of clicked from the beginning and I was really happy that I had a friend like that, again this friendship is purely platonic and I wouldn't have it any other way.

My flight was finally being boarded and I found out I was bumped up from business class to first class when I was about to board. Apparently the someone that changed my seat to one in first class is anonymous. I got to sit in this really comfy chair with more leg space and I got to have these really cool mocktails that came with those little umbrellas and little straws, overall it was really cool but I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen when I got back home.

My mum would bombard me with questions no doubt and so would my dad, then I would have to tell them about Cole which would make the question thing worse, and then I would have to deal with Snape and his questions too. Last but not least, Axel.

I honestly don't know what to expect from him. What if he didn't even notice I was gone? Or what if he did and he's really mad at me? Or what if he noticed and was happy that I wasn't there? What if he wished that I would never come back to school so he doesn't have to deal with me anymore? All these questions were running through my mind and I was so preoccupied with overthinking that I didn't notice someone had taken the seat next to me.

He looked like he was a few years older than me and he's honestly pretty cute. He was wearing a black, long sleeved shirt with a normal pair of blue jeans and he had this really nice pair of wireless skulIcandy headphones hanging from his neck. I just looked back out the window and thought about how nice it was in Bora Bora and I quickly drifted off to sleep.

I woke up with my head on the cute strangers shoulder and I saw him staring at me. I was about to apologise but suddenly the plane started shaking and I could see him tense up a bit so I clutched the hand that was nearest to me and gave him a look of assurance. Not long after the plane stopped shaking and I made sure he was okay before letting go of his hand.

"Why'd you do that?" He asked perplexed

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, its just that you seemed like you were a bit... ummm.... Panicky I guess?" I didn't want to offend him so I was being careful with my word choice.

"No, no, I just wanted to know why you would help a stranger?"

"I would have wanted you to do the same if it was me and you looked like you were, as I said before, panicky."

"Thank you, um.. I didn't get your name before."

"It's Danielle." I replied while laughing "I didn't get yours either."

"Rocky, Rocky Romano."

"How old are you Rocky?"

"17, I'm turning 18 next year. How about you?"

"I'm 15, I'll be turning 16 next year"

"So I'm two years older than you then" he said it more as a statement rather than a question but I still replied

"Yep"

"How long was I asleep before?" I felt a bit embarrassed asking him cause I woke up with my head on his shoulder without even knowing

"I would say at least... 8 hours maybe? You must have been really tired"

"I'm so sorry! How long was I using your shoulder as a pillow?"

"About halfway through that so 4 hours. You don't need to say sorry, you helped me." He laughed after he said this

"Oh, well, okay then." Instead of letting our conversation get awkward, I asked

"So I'm guessing you're not a fan of turbulence?"

"Nope. Not a fan at all."

After this we started talking about random stuff and we got to know each other more. I learned that he doesn't really like his parents or like to talk about them at least, he moved around a lot but he stayed in America the longest and he also lives close to where I do. He offered to give me a lift but I declined, since my parents were probably already at the airport.

He's honestly a really chill guy and for the second time since I went to Bora Bora I gained a new friend.

After a few hours of endless talking we finally landed and we had to go our separate ways but not before agreeing to wait for the other before we leave the airport. I did what I had to do and got my bags from the belt, then I waited for Rocky outside.

We exchanged numbers and we started talking again. About 10 minutes later my parents came to pick me up so we went out separate ways.

I was finally back home and I had 2 new friends who I knew in my gut were not using me for anything.
