I hugged my parents and put my bags in the trunk. I got in the front seat of the car and put my earphones in but my mum started asking me questions.
"How was it there? Did you have fun? What did you do? Did-"
"Mum, mum, slow down. One question at a time. It was good and of course I had fun. I did a bunch of water sports and I was just chilling in the ocean sometimes. I got souvenirs by the way."
"That's good. Did you meet anyone there?" And there's the million dollar question, technically million rupee question.
"Yeah I did. I met Talia, she's the wind elemental and I met someone named Cole. He's moving here and he's my friend" I emphasised friend just in case they thought otherwise.
"Is that whom you were talking to in the airport?" My dad was the one who asked this time.
"No, that was Rocky. I met him on the plane and he moved here a while ago. He's also my friend."
"It's good that you have friends but what do I always say? Don't do anything you'll regret later on in life." I just rolled my eyes at that. My dad had some obsession with that phrase and even before he said it I knew it was coming.
"They're my friends dad. FRIENDS. Why do you always think like that?! I scowled at him. I was suddenly really irritable and I honestly didn't know why but my dad wasn't making it any better.
"I'm just telling you this just in case"
"Whatever dad." I reclined my seat a bit and tried to fall asleep, eventually I dozed off.
I woke up to someone shouting in my ear. My brother thought it would be a good idea to scream in my ear to wake me up. I shoved him away, got out of the car, got my bags and left them in my room. After I came back outside to say bye to my dad.
If you're wondering why my mum sat in the back on the way home and why I went to say bye to my dad, It's because they're divorced. They didn't want to stay married so they got a divorce, that's it there's really nothing to it.
"Bye dad"
"Bye darling. Remember what I said and I want to know what it was like there."
"Yeah, alright"
He pulled out of my mums one story house garage and left after the gate closed.
"What was dad talking about?" My sister asked me.
"I'll explain tomorrow, I'm tired" I was telling the truth, I actually am tired but I also couldn't be bothered explaining and having to deal with whatever comments she might make after I tell her. Surprisingly she let me go without complaining and I got ready for bed but as usual I couldn't sleep for a while so I thought about what happened in the car today.
I was going to say sorry to my dad but I couldn't. It might have been my pride or it could have been since I thought me getting mad was justified but I didn't. If anyone thinks I'm some prissy brat that thinks she's too good to apologise to anyone, especially her father you're wrong and you can't be a hypocrite. I know everyone has done this so no one can say anything. I know when I've crossed a line and I know when I should apologise. I may apologise eventually but I'm not sure myself. It probably is pride but maybe there's some reason I don't know yet that stops me from doing a simple thing like apologising. I realised I was reading into this tiny thing too much and forced myself to sleep.
I woke up from a dreamless sleep the next day and just stayed in bed for another hour, I was way too lazy to actually get up and get ready for the day as soon as I woke up so I stalled. After wasting a whole hour of my life doing nothing I had a shower and got dressed. Cole was going to arrive on Sunday and I had a whole day to kill since I had nothing to do except unpack and give everyone the gifts I bought them so instead of procrastinating I unpacked. I had the souvenirs wrapped when I got them so I just left them in each of their rooms, my dad would get his later since he wasn't here. After I unpacked and gave everyone their gifts I got ready to go out.
I made sure Snape knew I was back last night and I pretty much begged him to convince my mum to let me go out today. It took like the 30 minutes but in the end I got him to agree and since Snape asked she let me. There was a huge mall less than 30 minutes away from my house and most of the people in my school would be there today so I wanted to go and surprise them also I really wanted to but these funko pops I saw on instagram.
I got a cab and made sure my mum knew I was leaving before I left. I'm wearing a blue pair of denim shorts with a cropped, short-sleeved, floral hoodie. I got checked with one of those detector things you have to walk through at the entrance and again after that with the small mobile one. They knew I was the ice elemental but it was something they had to do so they wouldn't make anyone mad or make it seem like they were giving me special treatment.
As soon as I stepped in I spotted one of my grades cliques on their phones laughing in the corner. I made a mental note to be noticed by them before I went upstairs and I started walking in the opposite direction. I was just walking and playing with my powers a bit when I heard my name being called from behind me. It was Alejandro, Axels best friend. My initial reaction was to run but I stopped and waited for him. He finally caught up to me and he just started walking so I followed him.
"Where have you been? I haven't seen you for a whole month!" He whipped his arm out at month and I almost got hit in the face
"Tone down on the hand gestures Alejandro. You might give someone a concussion" I laughed
"Sorry about that but where have you been? You just stopped coming to school and you didn't even tell anyone. Did you leave school?"
His face was so serious when he asked that last question that I couldn't help but burst out laughing. I had to lean on the wall so I could catch my breath again.
"No Ale, I didn't leave school but gosh your face when you asked" I wiped a tear that was about to fall due to my obnoxious laughing and continued "I've been in Bora Bora and the reason I didn't tell anyone is because I really doubt they would care."
I heard him mutter something under his breath and I'm pretty sure I heard Axel's names but I couldn't hear him properly
"What'd you say?"
"Nothing..." he tried to shrug it off but I wasn't about to let it go that easily
"I heard Axels name. What did you say?"
"Can we just forget about it? I'm not going to tell you anyway"
"Ale you know what the Chinese burn is right?"
"Yeah...."
"Imagine how it would feel if someone who had ice powers tried the Chinese burn on your arm?"
"You wouldn't" he said with narrowed eyes
"Oh, I really would" I replied with a triumphant, smug smile.
He looked he was thinking about it and then he finally broke
"Fine! I said I'm pretty sure Axel cared"
"Don't lie to me Alejandro" I said while scrunching my eyebrows in confusion
"I swear, I'm honestly not"
"Why would he care?"
Before he could explain I heard someone calling Alejandros name but just as I was about to turn around Ale held me in place
"Don't turn around, Axel is coming this way fast."
"Oh shit, don't tell him you saw me okay?"
"Yeah I figured you didn't want him to know. Now put your hood up and run"
I did what he said and ran, I ran up like 2 escalators and rounded a corner until I finally stopped. I caught my breath and pushed myself off the wall I was leaning on then started walking around. I made sure to keep my head low and look out for anyone who knows me or Axel. I wasn't about to let people know now so I bought what I came here for and a few extra things then got ready to leave. I got a strawberry milkshake from Mc Donalds before I booked my tuk but just as I walking out of the shop I heard 2 voices that I didn't want to hear right now.
Axel was on my right and Aiden was on my left, neither of them had noticed me yet though. I knew Axel might be able to sense me if he gets too close and I knew Aiden and his friends might pull something. They were closing in on me but before they got too close I did the only thing I could think of at the point
