Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

Lin XinYin was wary of Wang Wei, but it didn't seem that it was only her that held some animosity towards the latter. His bearing did not seem like that of a normal guide, nor did his extensive knowledge of politics and warfare match his status. She had told her worries to Feng Mian and he agreed with her, so while the main group was chattering happily with Wang Wei in the midst of their conversations.

Lin XinYin had found out from eavesdropping that it seemed that her Mistress was part of something that wasn't widely known, Feng Mian told her because he had been through her bag before and although she disapproved of his underhanded tactics to find information, she was burning with curiosity about her Mistress; she knew nothing about her.

From within the bag, Feng Mian had told her that he saw a weird box thing, some cosmetics and weird square things and spare clothes. When asked what the square thing was exactly, he said he didn't know. So the two concluded that it was part of an organisation that the group was in.

But why was Wang Wei included in all of them? He surely wasn't a part of it, so to double-check the two did some snooping in his stuff and found nothing of the sort. But what they did find was what made them wary of him, they found a small vial of poison, and not a weak one either. Lin XinYin had only seen this type of poison in the high-end pharmacies, she knew of this poison because she had studied it before, she had been working in the local pharmacy at Beisha, and the old lady there let her read the book of herbs when she was bored.

Lin XinYin questioned this; why did a local guide have such poison on his person?

She voiced this to Feng Mian, who was shocked about this revelation. He wanted to notify the group immediately but she decided against it and when asked by Feng Mian she told him that Wang Wei could easily hide the poison and they, in turn, would look suspicious accusing someone of having poison.

Feng Mian had the best advantage as he was basically Lady Wang's right-hand man at this point, he was always around her as she had requested and therefore could keep her safe, even little Feng was capable of keeping an eye on Lady Wang and those that surrounded her.

They watched the others as they got ready to go through the mountains and explore the area. Lin XinYin stuck to Lady Wang as much as she could and Feng Mian became more of a bodyguard and made sure that everyone to keep a certain distance from her. But he made sure it was subtle, Charlotte had noticed it though.

She questioned it but she thought it was just him doing his job and ignored it.

Wang Wei was pissed off. It seemed as if he was being pushed away, bit by bit from the group. All because of Lin XinYin and Feng Mian, he didn't do anything yet, and they couldn't possibly know of his mission.

He observed the group again, and it seemed that only Lady Wang is keeping away from him and being cautious of what she says around him, the Generals are also keeping an eye on him whereas the ladies are clueless, apart from the one.

He was supposed to kill Lady Wang, not the others, but it could be better if he just killed them all. No witnesses. But then he had the problem of how to dispose of the Generals; he certainly couldn't take them. Not even one on one.

Wang Wei glared at Lady Wang as she talked to her friends. He didn't know what they were talking about. They were also talking in a language that he didn't understand. His glare turned murderous, but no one saw this.

"So, I want you guys to keep an eye on Wang Wei," Laquetta warned, speaking in English, "I was told by Feng Mian and Lin XinYin that he had a deadly poison with him."

"Who do you think he is trying to kill?" asked Lottie.

"I am pretty sure it's Laquetta," answered Charlotte, "I mean, out of all of us, her 'family' has the most power and influence. So, she would be the primary target."

"Do the others know?" questioned Leslie.

"Should we tell the boys?" asked Lisa.

"Meh," Charlotte said before turning to Laquetta and asking, "How did you know that he has poison?"

Laquetta pulled out a small vial which contained the lethal liquid from her sleeve pocket.

"This is the poison, and Feng Mian got if for me. He was suspicious of Wang Wei from the start. Until one night he went inside his room and checked his bag," Laquetta said slowly, "This means that he is dangerous. So we have to be careful."

The girls nodded and lost all good favour against Wang Wei.

"How do we tell the boys then? They have to know otherwise Wang Wei might target them," said Lisa.

Laquetta thought for a moment, "Tell them discreetly, and you have to make sure to act as if we don't know anything. Therefore, if Wang Wei talks to you, talk to him as you normally do. But do not say too much, especially in regards to where we came from. Keep a close eye on your belongings and especially anything electronic. Don't let him see."

The girls nodded their heads in understanding and set out to clear their bags and keep all their electronics away, Charlotte and Leslie went and told the boys of what was going on; Feng Mian and Lin XinYin, just knew that there was a hustle of activity, almost as if a tornado went through the group and stuff started changing. The boys were acting more cold and commanding whilst the girls were acting more snobbish and unreachable.

The friends never let one go off without another accompanying them if Wang Wei was there with them. The boys were like that too; it also brought the friends closer as they were forced to spend more time around on another.

These actions left Wang Wei fuming.
