"Why am I getting dragged into this?" I asked as we walked towards the principal's office. "We BOTH were solving that book, so if I'm going down, I'm bringing you along as well!" Dan replied. We were both talking in hushed murmurs cause few feet ahead of us was an annoyed Miss Grace.
"Miss Grace! Wait!" A girl yelled from behind us. We spun around to face this merciful angel, but it was no other than... Rebecca? "Miss Grace! Don't take them to the principal, give them one last chance! I'm sure they'll learn their lesson, you have MY assurance," Becca said, stressing upon the 'my'. "O-oh, well... I don't know what to say. Are you sure you want to waste your time with these students?" Waste your time? Ouch! I thought to myself. "I'll decide if they're worth my time or not. You may come back to the class and teach." Becca said and walked off, with us following her, puzzled and embarrassed. "And yes, the entire class is in chaos, so you better go fix that," Becca said, but something was wrong. She said that line without that air of pride around her.
"Who are you?" I asked. "Who me?" 'Becca' asked. "It's me you idiot!" 'Becca' said. "Wait! How did y-" "Alex!" Dan was immediately interrupted by me. "Sorry, slowpoke! I came to know first!" I teased Dan, as he looked away, embarrassed by his slowness. "Wait, you can shapeshift?" I asked. "Yeah, but only for a while. If I have seen someone, I can turn into them, but it lasts longer depending on their relationship with me. If I just had a glance at him or her, 5 mins max. If a teammate or classmate, 7-8 mins max. So I should be chance back any second now." 'Becca' Alex said.
So now what? Due to all the commotion, we couldn't read the book," I replied. "Ok, I wanted to say that I need you to go somewhere... Dan isn't allowed," Alex said. "Awww unfair," Dan said. "There's kinda like a ritual when a new demon or a demi-demon comes into existence, so I'm just gonna need you to attend that," Alex continued. Yes...a demonic ritual, just what I needed to spice up my life, I thought to myself. "But wait! We've got classes!" Dan exclaimed. "Calm down, the place where we're going, time practically obeys demons," Alex said, leaving is to ponder upon what this magical place is...wait that's...oh. No wonder. "You guessed it right, my hometown, Hell,"
And now I'm on my journey to hell, which wasn't as bumpy of a ride I thought it would be, in fact, it felt majestic, like a bullet train ride, you know that you are moving fast, but you don't feel anything, cause you are sitting on a soft little cushion seat. I thought we'd be snapping directly into hell but looks like Hell isn't as close as I thought it was. "Whoa... that's huge," I gasped as I laid my eyes on the royal opening of hell, the gates made of pure gold, covered with jewels and shiny stuff, totally not what I had in mind.
I was imagining a firey pit with prison cells and souls wailing and facing punishment, but that wasn't what I was seeing. "This isn't the real hell, just a small room for newborn demons and demi-demons. So don't get your hopes high," Alex said, bringing me back to my senses. A beautiful hell, what was I thinking? I chuckled to myself as we walked down a long hallway, covered with paintings of naked angels and demons fighting each other with pokey sticks on the walls.
At the end of the hallway, there was a huge crowd anxiously waiting for someone. "That's a big audience, what's happening?" I asked Alex. "You're getting yourself a toy to play with," Alex replied, just when the entire crowd went wild and began screeching and clapping, which I swear, almost brought my heart to skip a few beats. "What's happening?" I asked, just as when my question itself cleared with what was kept in front of me... a blindfold and an arsenal of deadly weapons ranging from crossbows and spears to scythes and lances.
"Do I get to choose a weapon or something?" I asked. "Don't be silly, the weapon's gonna choose you," Alex replied as she began tying the blindfold on my eyes. "Then why the blindfold?" I questioned. "Normally, we demons can just hold our hands in front and our suitable weapon would just come flying towards us," Alex responded. "So wait, like Thor?" I said. "Wha-yes, like Thor. Now I will give you a weapon one by one, just tell me if it suits you, and I'll tell you if the weapon likes you or not," Alex stated. Looks like a lucky draw, I thought to myself.
"Draw forth thy hands," a rough voice called out. "Uh ok, here," I said as I brought forth my hands. "The first weapon, hold it," Alex said. I took whatever Alex gave and began feeling the weapon to kinda figure out what it was. Hmm, a large hexagonal pyramid as its head, something's engraved on one side, feels like it's made of wood, and overall has a good feel to it, but it felt too heavy for me. "This one doesn't feel right," I exclaimed. "Gold-headed war hammer rejected," Alex said in a loud voice. A gold-headed war hammer, I thought to myself, I could have sold that for a ton of cash. "Next weapon, hold it," Alex said. Hmm, this one's knife-like, has an exceptionally sharp head, is bound to the shaft with a metal ring. Feels like a spear or a pike or something, never thought of owning one of those. Eh, not interested. "Nah, too long and pointy," I said. "Platinum headed pike rejected," Alex said. Platinum? Why are these made of such precious metals, don't they know I'd just sell them if they're that precious.
"Next weapon, hold it," Alex said. Hmm, one of the heads has a small star-shaped edge, the other, a small, triangular blade, and has mysterious engravings across it. It is neither too light nor too heavy, it's perfectly balanced. But these weapons just don't feel right, even if they are perfectly balanced, or made of rare metals, they just don't feel like weapons, they feel like sticks plucked from a tree. "No, this one's not it," I said. "Silver double-headed battle-axe rejected," Alex said. This rejection went on and on, maces, daggers, halberds, Sickels, flails, bows, spears, axes... until I found it, the perfect fit, the perfect weapon, a sword. With its perfect leather grip, and its double edges, and the fact that I can wield it in one hand, is a dream come true?
"Yes! This is it! It feels really good in the hand," I said. "Uh... are you sure, there are many more," Alex said. "You're kidding, right? This one's perfect!" I exclaimed. "Wow... I mean, Zirconium double-edged, one-handed sword acquired." Alex exclaimed. I didn't know if it was my imagination or if she was actually worried for a second. Alex began opening my blindfold, after which my eyes met with the shiniest sword I've ever seen, it looked like it was created for combat. The blade was very sturdy, and had a permanently sharp edge, and has weird engravings across it. It had a complex guard, an elaborate dark red grip, and a plain pommel. It is neither too light nor too heavy, is perfectly balanced, and is not to be underestimated. The scabbard is made of coffee rubber with titanium trimmings.
"So what do I do with this now?" I asked. "You keep it for the rest of your life," Alex replied. "And... why is that?" I asked. "Cause apparently you have an affinity with swords, so uh... good luck?" Alex replied.
