Under the moonlight, I was in a park, near a fountain. Behind me, I heard the footsteps of people running. "What in the world are you doing?" I heard Dan yell as he gasped for air. I turned around and faced the three and looked in their eyes, "If I'm a demi-demon, I should have powers, like raising the dead, right?" I proposed. "Is that a joke! Of course, you have powers, why wouldn't you?" Dan exclaimed, still out of breath. "Is that the only reason why you made us run all the way; a simple question that you could have clarified IN THE HOUSE!" Lavender cried.
I looked over to Alex, "Then what are they, my powers?" I said, after which Alex began to search her pockets. After her rigorous search, she pulled out a piece of paper and read out, "Super-strength, shadow teleportation, surrounding awareness, mastery over weapons and flight." Listening to the list, I felt... disappointed. After all that drama of me running, all I have is super-strength, shadow teleportation, surrounding awareness, mastery over weapons, and flight.
I guess flight, strength, and teleportation is pretty good, but how is mastery over weapons and surrounding awareness going to do any good. The lifestyle I've had, I never got things my way, so I never felt bad for not having something and felt happy for whatever I had, but finally, when one of my childhood dreams to become a superhero almost becomes a reality, this is what I get.
"Looking at your face, you sure don't look too happy," Alex said, "What's wrong?" "Nothing much. Just that I expected too much of you, I guess." I replied. "Seriously! Batman would kill for that kind of power, heck, he doesn't even have any powers!" Dan said, his face, lime-green from jealousy. "You missed an important factor. True he doesn't have any actual powers, but if you go through Batman's quotes for once, you'd find his powers are that he is... rich, and has basically whatever he wants." I said. "So what is it that you don't have?" Lavender inquired, leaving Dan out of the conversation.
"Don't know what I was expecting really but I really was expecting to... raise the dead... and stuff," I said. Lavender couldn't understand, but Dan and Alex could. They knew I wanted to resurrect Mom and Dad. "Well, since the topic is about Batman, I've seen some movies of his myself," Alex said, "Batman doesn't have parents as well, he lost them, but according to you, being rich is a superpower, so tell me, can you bring a person back with riches?"
That left me thinking for the rest of the time she let me give an answer. "No, it can't. He had to carry the burden, but he still became a superhero and saved people and stuff," I said. "Then what are you sad for? C'mon now, wipe that sadness off your face, it doesn't suit your personality," Lavender said. I looked around for something to clean my face when I remembered the water fountain.
I turned around and saw the beauty of the fountain, as the water gently flowed out of the fine holes in the pillar in the middle. I dipped my face into the pool and looked for something to wipe my face with. After randomly placing my hand as my vision was blurred due to the water, I found a cloth, with which I wiped my face. I opened my eyes and to my horror, I had wiped my face on Alex's t-shirt! OOPS big time!
Dan closed Lavender's eyes as she looked at what was happening. Dan, you're not making this any better, I thought. "Aww, come here," Alex said and hugged me, with my head buried in her bosom. I can't breathe in here, I wanted to say, but it all got muffled and I fell unconscious.
