Chapter 11 - - True Martial Arts -

Zu Dai placed a hand on his chin and looked around the area attempting to think of ways to attract more attention to himself without looking like an arrogant, sadistic bastard in the process. He could think of many ways of getting himself another fight but repeating the last way would make him look bad and the other way involved a stick and someone's ass.

The last one made him smile but 'Shoving a stick up someone's ass ain't gonna guarantee a fight, It would be fun though.' He looked at his cudgel and spun it around in his palm before focusing back on his two friends talking to each other and then a sudden thought came into mind 'What happened to Mo Chang?'

Dai had accidently during the exam with all the peasants taken down Mo Chang with a well placed cudgel to the knee… 'I'm sure he'll get over it… and another connection lost within the sect.' He sighed and placed his hands behind his head.

This went on for a minute until he was called up to the stage once again this time seeing a good ol face 'Bing Ai? I suspected something like this was gonna happen but so soon…' He shrugged his shoulder and walked up the steps facing Bing Ai across the stage.

'But this could work in my favor… how to prove that you're righteous and strong. Should I simply surrender?' He pondered the thought for a long time his head looking toward the sky with what seems without a care in the world for his opponent what so ever.

The people within the crowd supported Bing Ai more so than Zu Dai and his rude behavior apon seeing her invoked anger within them, especially more so within the males who shouted at him with jeers. Upon hearing the cries and rage of the crowd he looked at them confusedly and then back at Bing Ai who had her fists balled up.

'I f***ed up by thinking too much.'

He quickly tried to recover the situation with a few sweet words "Forgive me for my disposition, I was mulling over my thoughts on this matter because I simply don't want to fight you at all…" He paused shortly looking at the expressions of the others which so far were going good they were listening to his words at least now time to strike "and because of this I suggest to you that we both display the most powerful move and whoever wins that contest the other party surrenders."

Dai was attempting to be diplomatic to show that kind of skill to his future masters, while also attempting to gain himself perhaps some real respect within the sect. If he hurt the beauty he was assured that many of the men and women here wouldn't let such a thing go at all and try to take revenge on behalf of her including her family, and he also didn't want Bing Ai to leave him so soon…

But there is a certain risk… that's if the family takes offense to their own moves getting bested "What do you say?" Zu Dai smiled brightly.

Bing Ai looked at him surprised with wide eyes and then started to giggle, after she stopped giggling which melted the hearts of most of the men in the crowd she looked back at him "Sure." She took out her saber and got her move readied.

Dai did the same and reeled his cudgel back, he had options now… Either to use his A rank killing move and purposely miss her which still would take the win as it's a bout on whose move is better or use another B rank move and place her in the position where she can't come out of.

'Death or Thunder?' He was thinking on which of the two attack moves he made, Dai only had four moves and these were the last two with two very appropriate names to match their titles. Death was considered death… and thunder gave you thunder…

He looked at Bing Ai and smiled brightly, "Thunder it is." he said this aloud so people could hear his words. He placed his cudgel in both hands right above his chest and took a square stance.

Bing Ai on the other hand retracted her saber and laid it on her opposite arm, giving her the appearance of a woman peeking over a window to look at someone. 'What a feminine move.' He slowly took two steps forward still waiting for her to strike.

Bing Ai's body suddenly appeared in front of him leaving two neat footprints on the ground where her previous sword was raised and the air around her was cold and unyielding. She swung the blade horizontally down leaving a trail of visibly cold air behind it.

Dai's eyes dilated and he shouted, his cudgel struck out quickly with speed and his body moved from its place but Bing Ai's saber continued to follow him, he quickly tilted the cudgel and slammed it into her ever approaching sword. The striking of his cudgel onto her saber was accompanied with a sound of thunder and a trail of white.

The sound came from how he had to move the cudgel and his body movement that he used was a mixture of horse fleet combined with prey and predator, he found out that with this moves combined together it made something completely different so he called this move thunder.

The two opposing forces collided together and Dai flew back and off the stage, his vision blurred slightly when he felt his back and head colliding onto the tiled ground of the courtyard. His whole entire arm felt numb 'This feeling… It's the same as what he used…' He struggled to get back on his feet still holding his cudgel in one hand.

He looked at Bing Ai who was looking at him with a shocked expression, her eyes mostly focused on his body rather than his face. He opened his mouth "I've been beaten, your martials are truly superior."

In the back of his mind his thoughts were racing, those martial arts were unique… very unique indeed and he began to think ahead when he reached a conclusion those martial arts were something that prepared these heir's to join cultivation. The conclusion was relatively simply to find for him because his mind ran faster than most and the evidence was already there.

He cupped his hands and took a bow.

Bing Ai was shocked and stuttered before answering "O-Of course!" She nodded her head while swiftly putting away her saber into a sheath that hung on her hip. He smiled when he saw her little reaction from him receiving that strike.

He rubbed his back and used his cudgel as a support until the pain mulled over, But while the pain was mulling over he saw Bing Ai rapidly approaching him from the side with her little group of people walking behind her.

To her direct side was the girl that pulled his hands away from Bing Ai which made him smile, He didn't receive them and stood silent while watching the next battle take place on the left tourney field which was two nobles fighting. He wanted to form his own martial art similar to what Su Ming and Bing Ai could do… and the best way to do that was.

"Hey! Don't ignore me again!" Bing Ai jumped in front of his face as her group surrounded him on all sides. He looked at her and smiled at her calmly.

"Do you need something?" He made sure his words were calm and gentle when he said them to her, he wanted her to get riled up and the best way to do that is to act dumb!

"Don't do that! I need to know now are you a minor noble or something?! I can't believe that you're just a simple peasant!" She pointed her finger in his face, with her cheeks puffed up. He let out a soft laugh and looked at her again with her cheeks even more puffed up.

He laughed and wiped a tear from the edge of his eyes "You're cute, you know? I'll tell you what you want to know if you answer a few questions of mine." Her cheeks grew red with the cute remark but she quickly recovered and listened intently on what he said after that.

She pondered the request until she let out a sigh and did an affirmative shake with her head.

"Alright, that skill you use does it involve something with cultivating?"

"Oh? Is that what you want to know? My father tells me this is common knowledge in the cultivation world there are two classes of martial arts one is mortal martial arts and the other is… more into the realm of true martial arts!" She struggled to remember the last one near the end.

"Whats the difference?"

"Who they are made by, a cultivator makes true martial arts with rare occasions for a mortal to make a true martial arts because one has to know their weapon for years before doing that..." Her voice trailed off near the end clearly unable to know what the true difference is but Dai took her words to heart and formed a meaning inside of his head.

Cultivators can live for thousands of years and with those thousands years of aging they create martial arts and create spiritual spells in order to sustain themselves and to survive in the world constantly being attacked by other cultivators on their journey.

Cultivators must fight against earth to cultivate...
