Chapter 27 - CHAPTER 26: THE PHONE CALL

The classroom was silent more than usual the next day and it wasn't of a good sight as all the student's auras has all gone down.

Neil stood up and walked towards the door with his arm in his pocket, he moved without difficulty but with heavy heart and downed spirit.... He moved past many students on the hall way, even bumping past some who cursed him but he paid no attention to them and continued his journey.

He finally got to the telephone center and picked up the phone and pressed some buttons, although it didn't went through and he wondered why. Before he remembered he had no coin on him.

"Fantastic." He murmured.

He dropped the phone and head straight to class when his shoulder mistakenly hit someone else's.

"Ouch." Was the response.

"Sorry." Neil spoke without lifting his head. "My bad."

"Neil... Right." The person spoke.

"And who's asking?." Neil asked face still downward.

"Kai." The voice responded.

Neil lifted his face to see Kai staring at him with a smile on his face and gratitude in his eyes.

"Hey there dead man." Neil joked.

"Well thanks to you the dead man is alive again." Kai took a deep breath. "It feels good to live."

"Yeah..... It does." Neil walked towards him and tapped his shoulders.

"I came to give you this though." Kai brought forth a package.

"What is that?" Neil asked.

"It's my gratitude to you guys for saving my life." Kai spoke. "I know you did it of your own will.... But please accept it a token for my friendship with you guys."

"Then we accept." Sandy yelled. "With gratitude."

Sandy flashed towards Kai and grabbed the gift without thinking, drifted off to class immediately without looking back at the two of them.

"Huh....." Was all Kai could mutter.

"Guess I can't reject the gift anymore." Neil smiled. "See you later."

.

.

.

.

"So it was a phone....." Sandy yelled.

"Oh I see." Neil spoke.

"From who?" Clint asked.

"Well....?" Ned looked at Neil.

"Why are you guys staring at like that?" Neil asked.

"It's a gift from Kai." Sandy spoke.

Silence.

"There's a note in it." Rory spoke.

Sandy picked it up and opened it wide for him to read as he stared at it for a while, everyone waited for him to read it loud. And not a word came out of Sandy as he kept staring at the little note.

"Okay hand it over." Ned smirked as he walled towards Sandy.

"The letter said:

SORRY FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR PHONES.

THAT'S WHY I BROUGHT YOU GUYS NEW ONES

ALTHOUGH IT'S NOT ENOUGH BUT PLEASE ACCEPT IT

KAI.

what does it mean I wonder." Sandy spoke at last.

"Why did it take you long enough to read it... buffoon?" Ned yelled.

"To see your reactions." Sandy smirked. "I know you thought I was an illiterate... Like you."

"What..." Ned exploded. "Care to repeat that?"

"Calm down ladies." Clint spoke.

"And who the hell are you calling ladies.?" Ned and Sandy yelled.

They stared angrily at Clint whom on the other was shaking... Like a wet cold cat.

"I won't call you ladies again....." Clint babbled. "Noted."

Neil walked towards the table and picked up a cell phone, opened it and placed his cell card on it before powering it up. As soon as the phone completed his rebooting, a call came in.

An unexpected thing to happen to him ever since her was little, it was the least person he had expected to call him. He answered it and placed it on his ear.

"Hello." He spoke, although his voice were quivering.

"Hello son." A voice rang out. "Um... How have you been?"

His voice was quivering too and Neil could sense it, they're both too excited.

"Am fine.... Dad." Neil answered

"Sorry I haven't called you all these while." Noe spoke. "That's bad of me."

"Well don't beat yourself too hard." Neil smiled. "Not that you have done it before."

"Yeah..." Noe chuckled. "And I was such a bad father."

"Well...." Neil smirked. "I might even be a worse son to you."

"You never were." Noe replied instantly. "Only that..... You reminded me alot about your mother.."

"Yeah." Neil could feel the sadness on Noe's voice.

Silence.

"How's Nara doing." Neil asked.

"She's fine and here too." Noe laughed. "She wanna talk to you."

"Big brother." Nara kept yelling.

"Hey there pumpkin." Neil smiled. "How are you."

"Am fine.... I missed you... I want you to come back..... I don't wanna be alone anymore." She spoke without stopping.

"Hey Nara.... Nara... Calm down." Neil tried to calm her down. "Am okay... Alright...."

"When are you going to come back?" She asked almost crying.

"Hey..." Neil laughed. "What did I tell you about crying over anything?"

"That if I cry for too long.." She sniffed. "It won't come to me."

"Exactly." Neil smiled. Though tears began to well up in his eyes.

"But come back soon." She screamed.

"I will." Neil smiled. "Give it back to Dad."

"okay." She said happily.

"Thanks." Neil answered.

Silence.

"So... Dad." Neil spoke. "Guess I have to hang up now... It's against the school rules to make phone calls in class."

"Understood." He said. "Goodbye son."

"Alright then." Neil ended the call. "Goodbye dad."

Neil slowly dropped the phone of his ears as he wipes off the tears at the corner of his eyes with his thumb, He heard stiffened laughter from behind him.

"And for how long are you guys going to continue to laugh?" Neil asked.

"It's so cute seeing you cry." Clint smiled.

"You never told me you had a sister." Sandy walked to Neil and stared at him at the face. "When were you gonna tell me?"

"I don't know...." Neil rolled his eyes. "You haven't said a thing about yourself to me you know."

"Yeah true." Sandy lamented. "In time bro... But not now."

"Sure." Neil smiled.

Although Neil had lied to Sandy about not knowing anything about him hurts his heart but it was best for him not to... For the sake of everyone.

"It seems you guys are having fun." Lyn smiled.

She's had been standing at the door for a while with her arms on her waist, her leg crossed and her body leaned against the doorpost.

"And for how long have you been there?" Ned asked.

"Few seconds ago." She replied.

"Liar." Neil telepathed.

"Like seriously.." Lyn stared at Neil. "We have another mind reader in class.... This is no good."

"Don't worry." Neil telepathed. "Your secret is safe with me.... For now."

"You are going to tell them eventually." Lyn folded her arms. "Aren't you?"

"For now... No." Neil tilt his head to the right.

"And what are you two discussing?" Rory asked as he steps in through the door.

"You don't wanna know." Neil smiled at him.

"Okay... If you say so." He shrugged.

"So how are you feeling now?" Neil asked.

"Am holding strong." He raided his hands for a hand shake.

"That's nice to hear." Neil shook the hands.

Rory left to meet the others.

"It's good to have you back again." Ned commented.

"And he has awakened." Sandy yelled and hugged Rory real tight.

"How I wish she was here." Jade stood close to Neil.

"Yeah." Neil smiled. "Me too."

"Well we better settle down before Mr Black come in." Jade moved towards her seat.

"Good point." Neil smiled and head to his seat.

Literally everyone came back to class little by little, it seemed the break period was over and the students were ready for the next session of class.

Few minutes later everyone had gone bored for Mr Black refused to come to class and the session was coming to an end, Lyn head towards the board to address the class for what has happened so far.

"Well guys." She spoke. "We have all been given our roles to play in the park... Some which we don't like and some we like but that doesn't matter... Because all that matter is that we will do it is right for Miss Wade's sake."

"Yeah." The class answered.

"So we are going to do our very best." Lyn continued. "So let's get to work.... We will start from you Jade."

"Me?" Jade asked.

"Well... Who else has the name Jade in this class?" Lyn asked. "Ofcourse it's you."

"Well.... Okay....."

She stood up and smiled. The mentioning of roles began as the others laugh at each other for the roles they are about to take, Prof. Hiro stood by the door and watched the students laugh and smile. That is except Delia who's blank state doesn't seem to affect the class jubilees.

He smiled and walked towards his office with a cell phone in his hands. He slotted it into his pocket and folded his arms to the back.

"Calm down you rascals... You are making the school noisy." Someone yelled.

They all turned to see Miss Wade standing at the door, they was a loud uproar that shook the school itself. Neil, Sandy and Delia stood as the rest of the students dashed towards Miss Wade as they hugged her tightly....

"I guess he did changed his mind after all." Neil thought. "It's a good thing he changed his mind."

"I know you did this..." Delia thought. "Right Neil?"

She turned and looked at the smiling Neil for she knew he heard her thought, Neil observed Delia's looks and smiled again.

"I didn't do anything Delia." Neil smiled.

"Liar." Delia looked away.

"Say whstever you like." Neil telepaths. "Not that it mattered anyways."

"Suit yourself." Delia looked at the window.

"Ummm... A thank you would be nice." Neil smiled.

"Let's called that even." Delia stared.

"On what?." Neil looked surprised.

"On saving your ass few days ago." Delia walked away.

"Huh." Neil spoke out.

"Huh." Sandy liked at Neil, Delia then Neil again. "What's going on."

Silence

"Nothing." Neil managed to speak. "Forget about it."

Neil walked towards Miss Wade.

"I know something is fishy between you two." Sandy yelled. "And I will find out soon.

Sandy laughed at his own joke.
