Chapter 25 - 25

ALEX'S POV

"Alex!" I heard Mom shout from the front of the tour bus.

"I'm where I usually am!" I shouted back from the mini music station as I was writing some lyrics down.

Well I guess it's been a while

Since I've seen the sunshine

Since I have smiled

And me, who's so well versed

Is feeling so damn empty

Is at a loss for words

Forgot what it's like

To just feel okay

I'm praying for the day

When there is no more rain

I quietly sang the first part I had written down.

"What ya doing?" Mom asked as she came over to me. She sounded like one of those annoying siblings.

"Stuff." I replied nonchalantly. I flipped over the page. "Fuck! Paper cut!" I screamed. "Mommy! I got a boo boo!" I fake whined and pouted as she was filming.

"My poor baby. The struggles of being a songwriter." She joked back. She grabbed my hand and kissed where I got the paper cut. "Better?" She asks.

"Yep!" I laughed and continued my writing.

"I've been meaning to ask.. did you eat at least half of your breakfast this morning?"

"Yes, I did." I sighed.

"Are you telling the truth?" She stares directly at me. I stare directly back.

"Yes. You can even ask Aunt Dallas."

"Next question."

"What is this? An interview?" I joked.

"Yep!" She joked back. "Did you have any nightmares last night?"

"Nope." I quickly lied and looked away. She surprisingly believed that.

"Today we're going to the recording studio before we leave Texas." Mom said playing with my hair.

"Why?" I asked looking at her.

"You remember that song you wrote.. that you always wanted to record, but needed another person to sing it with?"

"You mean My Oh My?" I asked excitedly.

"Yes! Her name is Kenzie, she's 15, older girl." Mom explained and smirked at the last part.

"Yay! I'm so excited!" I squealed and hugged her.

"We're leaving soon, so get ready." She ordered.

"Mom, wait!" I said stopping her before she walked away. "Can I talk to you about something later?" I asked nervously.

"Of course, baby. Now get ready." She said before walking away.

I put on a long sleeved Nirvana shirt, a black pair of Fabletics leggings, and yellow converse.

"You're looking great, baby girl." Mom said as I walked to her.

"Look at you! I get my stylish looks from you." I smiled.

Mom was wearing a light grey tank top, black skinny jeans, and black high heels.

"Are you guys ready?" I heard Max ask.

"Maxipad!" I quickly hugged him. "I missed you!" I smiled up at him.

"I missed you too, Alex." He tried to keep a straight face but failed. When we were getting changed earlier the tour bus was already driving to the studio. We walked outside and it was bright.

"Holy fucking shit balls." I laughed while covering my eyes. Mom slipped a pair of sunglasses over my eyes.

"Language!" She said after.

"Nah." I replied. "I forgot you had a studio in Texas." We walked inside and this girl, who I'm assuming was Kenzie, was sitting next to her mom. She got up and walked over to me.

"Hi, I'm Kenzie." She said and we shook hands.

"I'm Alexis, but I prefer Alex." I quietly said.

"How about you girls get to know each other before you guys start recording?" Kenzie's Mom suggested.

"There's a park down the road if you want to go." Kenzie suggested. I nodded and hugged Mom. She gave the usual don't talk to strangers, be safe, don't do drugs, the talk that most parents give.

"Do you live in Texas?" I asked as Kenzie and I walked to the park.

"Nope. I live in California, I'm just here visiting some relatives and to sing a song with you." She replied as we sat on a bench. "What about you?"

"It's on and off. I was born in California actually. I was supposed to be born in Texas, but I was born early. My grandparents live in Texas, we just finished visiting them."

"That's cool. So.. I heard online that you self harm?" She asked out of nowhere and I tensed up.

"I don't want to talk about it." I said quietly.

"If you do, why? You don't deserve it, you're beautiful." Kenzie replied. Which made me blush.

"Yo! It's the Queen of Whores!" I heard an all too familiar voice say. That voice belonged to Trevor. What was he doing in Texas?

"Run!" I screamed at Kenzie. She listened without asking and ran back to the studio. I, on the other hand, didn't start running in time and Trevor grabbed my wrists.

"You're not going anywhere, freak!" He snapped as he pushed me to the ground.

"What are you doing in Texas?!" I asked, clearly scared.

"Visiting family. I found out you were here. I want to get even because you got me expelled from school!" He yelled angrily as he punched me in the face.

"S-Stop!" I screamed as I tried pushing him away.

"Shut up, slut!" He pulled me up and grabbed my hair. He shoved me hard to the ground and I hit my head on the bench before I hit the ground.

"Alex!" I heard a voice scream. I think it was Mom. I felt dizzy. "Alex, baby!" I saw her face in front of me before everything went black.

DEMI'S POV

I was talking with Melissa (Kenzie's mom) while the girls were getting to know each other. We were talking about stuff that moms talk about before a frantic looking Kenzie came running in.

"Woah, Kenzie. What's wrong?" Melissa got up and went over to her daughter.

"Where's Alex?" I chimed in, seeing my daughter wasn't with her.

"I thought she was right behind me! This boy at the park just pointed to Alex and said 'Yo! It's the Queen of Whores!' Then Alex said to run so I did. She might be with that boy!" Kenzie panicked. My first thought was to get my baby.

"Max! We need to go get Alex!" I also panicked. I didn't wait for him because I need to make sure my baby girl is okay. I ran down the street to the park, despite me being in high heels. I arrived at the park, with Max on my heels. What I saw was horrifying. It was Trevor and he threw my daughter on the ground, and she hit her head on the bench before hitting the ground.

"Alex!" I screamed as I ran over to her as Max grabbed ahold of Trevor. "Alex, baby!" I kneeled down next to her. She didn't respond and became unconscious. Flashes were going off. Fuck paparazzi.

"Demi! Look here!" One of them called out. How do they expect me to pose for a picture when my baby is unconscious!

"Call 911!" I panicked. "Make yourself fucking useful and call 911!" I yelled at the paparazzi. I saw Melissa and Kenzie out of the corner of my eye. Melissa was calling 911. "You're going to be okay, baby girl." I said trying to reassure myself honestly. I held Alex's unconscious body close to me and held her head. There was a lot of blood. I quickly took off my sweater and ripped it apart, making a makeshift bandage. It was the first thing I could think of to try and control the bleeding. I heard sirens in the distance. They quickly pulled into where we were and hopped out.

"Back away!" They yelled at the paparazzi. I picked up Alex in my arms and ran to the paramedics.

"She hit her head and she's unconscious!" I panicked as I was crying. I was angry crying because of what Trevor did. I was crying because my baby is unconscious. They took her from me and put her on a gurney.

"Are you her Mom?" One of them asked. I quickly nodded. "We want you to ride in the back." They said. I quickly hopped in the back with one of them and held my daughter's hand.

"Good news. We checked and it isn't bad. She should wake up in an hour or two. We want to take her to probably get some stitches." The female paramedic said.

"Y-You're going to be okay, baby girl. They said you'll be okay." I rubbed circles on her hand and kissed it as we drove to the hospital.
