Lex and I lunged toward eachother, but a green glow caged him and floated away with a person in a grey cloak.
Lex angrily yelled at the mage," Let me go! I haven't settled things yet!"
I could only glimpse at the brand on the cloaked person's wrist. So they're one of the Solsarian prisoners.
Was this ambush of beasts a part of Solsus's plan? Are the beasts and the purple spell somehow related to the war? What for?
I tried chasing the floating box, but a wall of mana barricaded me from following them.
"It's dangerous to follow them! Right now, please take me back to Saiya!" said the woman.
I had never seen her before. She was indeed a descendent of Solsarian blood. Her hair was red, but more orange than Saiya's hair and her eyes were the shade of jade green, like the Hara's.
"How do I know your not some spy," I growled at her.
"Because, I'm like you, someone who took a 'second chance'," she showed me her wrists were cuffed with a similar spell marking like mine, but in orange glow.
"And how would you know that," I walked closer to the woman, but a ash blonde young man wearing a mask had a nostalgic aura and flew in front of me to stop pursuing the woman.
Something inside of me knew this person and 'obeyed'. Who are these people? Why do I feel like I can trust this person?
I was finally in the evacuation tunnel. It was an old underground village made of clay where the villagers stayed warm in the winters and cool in the summers. The first group of evacuees that arrived had dug more tunnels in case we needed to escape the area. We had chosen this remote area because it was a small village, not marked by Solsus yet.
I found Saiya slumped on the floor with the doctor.
"Elice! Where were you?!" Saiya cried and pulled her down for a hug.
"Saiya, I'm so glad I found you. But first, please listen to me. You have a very special role in this war. Not JUST this war, but the upcoming wars. Your mother had the powers of a dream seer and being able to see the future is already rare in itself. Although, I have never seen the future in my dreams, I had been through the pain that we may have to go through again. Look closely," she shows her wrist to Saiya," You see these spell marks? These aren't ordinary spell marks created by mortals or celestials. This is an ancient spell that marks the Fate of yourself and your partner, but there's a second part to the contract. It's the other contractees. You are one with your partner and I am one with mine. There are others as well. The contract gives you a 'second chance' in life, but it's not just that. We were brought back to CHANGE something, to do something that will CHANGE the course of this war. My task was to find you and protect you until you learned what your task would be. When you met your contractor, was it wisp of white light or a wisp of grey shadows?" Elice asked Saiya.
"Wisp? What?" Saiya was confused.
"The one who told you about the contract," she said.
"You mean.. him?!" Saiya glared at me and anger flamed her eyes.
"Hm? So you weren't the one to learn about the contract from the wisp. Tell me then, Sir, which wisp told you about the contract?" She asked me.
"It was a being of white light, what does that have to do with anything?" I asked her.
"You see, there are sides. Each pair are working for wisps. Our contracts are to 'serve our selves then serve for them'. Meaning, we live our second chance and they get to use us as chess pieces for the future. I'm not entirely sure what we are fighting against, but if you say you met the wisp of white light then we must be on the same team. The team to fight the wars," she said.
"Then how do you know so much?" I asked her.
"Because he told me so," Elice pointed to the young man.
"And you are?" I asked him.
"A celestial of the future," he said.
"Then you came back by using the second chance?" I asked him.
"Not exactly. I'm not Elice's partner if that is what you were thinking. I'm a celestial who came from the future to assist you, the allies of Saeo, God's child. I need your help to end the future wars, specifically the one before I was born. That war is crucial for bringing peace to all. Well.. peace was always there, people just abuse the power to rip it up. I need your help. Your God is not dead. He is very much alive," the ash blonde man said.
"How?! How do you know he's alive?!" I asked," He died in front of me, so how? How is that possible?" I asked him.
"Gods do not simply die. They cannot die by mortal ways, they can only die by weapons smelted by the heavens," he said.
"Wait, are you saying there are more Gods? But Saeo is the only one God?!" Iren overheard our conversation.
"It's true. I've researched far long enough to have found some evidence of other celestial life. But I'm not sure if they were Gods," Varen butted in.
" You saw it with your very own eyes, right Amayan? You saw the weapon, that pierced your God, was a dagger that had a white porcelain handle and a graphite black blade. This dagger is a weapon that separates the soul from the body. The enemy probably believed that the weapon would kill Saeo, not knowing the true abilities of the weapon," the masked man said.
"Why do you know so much?" Iren asked him suspiciously.
"Because I am a celestial of the Future," he said
" Then can't you tell us how to win the wars?" Iren asked.
"In my time, most of history has been washed away. The many wars had erased historical records and eradicated this domain. We had to leave and start anew in a different domain," he said.
"Which is coming soon," Varen mumbled under his breath.
"And how do you know this, Doctor?" Iren slammed his arms around Varen against the walls of the tunnel.
"Because, Solsus has been thinking about researching a way to travel to a new domain in case the war destroys this universe," Varen said.
"Only something a Solsus would know," Iren scoffed and attempted to knock Varen down, but Varen held his stand.
"I am indeed a celestial and I DID serve Solsus, but my goal is for everyone here and everyone else who hates this war, to escape it and live better lives!" Varen said determined.
"This war is far from being over! And you, a Solsus, has some nerve pretending to care or making us believe you care?!" Iren yells.
"Stop it, Iren!" Elice yells at him," Believe it or not, he is our only doctor, our only way to help as many lives survive as much as possible!"
"Raaagh! But why him?! Why?! If he's a doctor, then how couldn't he have saved her!? Save Emori?" Iren cried in anger and walked away.
"Emori?" Saiya asked.
"Our daughter who had passed long ago, during the outbreak in your mother's hometown. Varen was an apprentice, but a child prodigy. Apparently, Emori had caught an unknown illness that is still understudy today," Elice said.
"Fire!" someone yelled out as smoke hurriedly filled the tunnels.
"Let's talk another time, first help everyone evacuate the tunnels! If we don't meet up at the the exit, then just pass the borders and meet in Ezu!"Varen yelled out.
