Chapter 19 - Chapter nineteen: Reality bites

For the second time tonight, I found myself being hauled into Hunter's arms.

My body was pressed tightly into his, the only difference this time is that he lifted me up onto his bike and gently settled me down towards the back of the seat.

I waited a few moments for him to move away to a safer distance but he remained less than a millimetre from me, our chests brushing together with each laboured intake of breath, cautiously I glanced up at his face and saw his intense gaze directed at my slightly parted lips.

Unable to think of anything better or at least more subtle, I leaned back, and as far away from Hunter as I could sitting on his motorbike.

His eyes dropped instantly, shielding away any of the hurt I would have witnessed in his gaze.

"We should go," I whispered.

***

We were sitting in front of my apartment complex, my emotions are running at a mile a minute, I had gotten no clarity during the ride and now I had to wait for him to get me down off the idling bike.

"Hunter?" I whisper questionably into his ear, he still remained motionless.

Sighing I braced my hands against his warm back, talking myself up to swing my legs over and jump off the bike.

Hunter must have guessed my intentions because he swung into action tipping me accidentally off balance, a scream escaped from my lips as I braced for the impact of my body crashing into the sidewalk.

I just off hitting the ground, when strong warm hands wrapped around my waist and torso, holding me suspended, just inches above the pavement.

Ever so slowly Hunter lifts my stiff horizontal body up into his arms cradling me into his chest, somehow we kept finding ourselves in these sorts of positions.

I cleared my throat hoping he would understand that I wanted to be put down.

Whether he did it not I wasn't sure, considering he completely ignored me, pulling the keys out of the ignition, and beginning the climb up the stairs with me still tightly clutched in his arms.

I was confident that we wouldn't fit together in the small space, forcing him to put me down. Against all of my beliefs Hunter managed to squeeze us through without any trouble, stopping in front of my door, he waits for me to unlock it.

"Hunter. . ." I say pleadingly.

But he cuts me off saying, "you look beautiful tonight, Cupcake."

My heart melted at his words, good soft eyes dipped down to my lips once again.

Slowly. So slowly he begins to descend.

For just one second I almost allowed him to kiss me, my eyes sinking closed.

"Siran." He breath fanning my lips.

I pushed back at the last moment, dropping to the floor. "I'm sorry i. I can't do this!"

His shock was prominent on his handsome face, he just stood there watching me shove my key into the lock yanking open the door and rushing inside.

My door slamming in his face must have brought back his senses before I could even retreat to my bedroom a safe distance away from the door, his closed fist began pounding its surface.

"Just leave, Hunter!" I cried over the loud banging.

"Open the fucking door, Siran!"

I hated it now when he used my name, after months of Cupcake.

"Open the fucking door, or I'll break it the fuck down!" He screams.

Defeated I open the door.
