I couldn't believe what I was seeing, Hunter's head turned to look at me, "hey, Cupcake," he smirked.
What was left of my heart ripped in two. "Oh, hey Hunter!" I faked enthusiasm, " I didn't see you there."
I nodded off in the other direction, "well I have to go Callie's waiting for me." I tossed over my shoulder with a quick smile, sprinting through the Cafeteria doors.
On seeing Callie seated at the centre table with Andy I plastered a fake smile on my face and make my way over to them.
"Hey, guys! Where did you disappear to last night?" Callie's features morphed into guilt.
"Sorry. We got lost, I was so worried about you!"
I managed a small but genuine smile, "It's okay! Hey, I'm not feeling amazing could you please get my notes off of Hunter and drop them off at my place later? Thanks." I was already halfway across the room.
I reached my car in record time, tearing out of the parking lot like the demons of hell were chasing me.
I didn't want to go home to an empty apartment, so I drove.
Eventually, I found myself at the coney island pier.
Parking i got out of my car to walk along the beach, i wade out to waist deep standing there letting the last of my salty tears combine with the ocean
My phone has been blowing up for hours now, I'm sitting peacefully on the hood of pony my back resting against the windshield, watching contentedly as the sun kissed the waves meeting in the middle for the horizon.
With a lingering smile, I decided it was time to go home.

The moment you arrive at my apartment my smile dropped off my face.
I should have known.
Hunter's midnight blue Harley was parked tauntingly in the space next to the one i normally occupied, It was too late to pull out again as he had more than likely heard me pull in.
The second i opened my door to the cool night air a emotionally heavy feeling of dread settled over me, i forced myself to climb the narrow stairs, i could already see the hunched shadow of his figure leaning against my front door.
"Hey." He spoke quietly as i stepped of the last step.
"Hi." I forced lightness into my voice, "what are you doing here?"
Without answering he holds up his notepad, "notes." I couldn't help but notice how bleak his voice sounded.
"Are you okay?" I'm being to get worried.
"Never better."
I knew i needed to act normal, so i found my voice and invited him in, saying, "have you eaten? We could order a pizza, watch something?" There was a cold glint in his eyes, i expected him to say no, but he surpi\rises me by nodding.
