Chapter 22 - Chapter twenty-two: Get them or I will

Over the next couple of weeks, things started easing up and going back to normal, if a little distant.

Which for now at least was probably for the better.

It was a Friday afternoon I was sitting under the shade of a large oak in the middle of central park, working on my biology homework.

Twenty minutes ago Hunter had said he was going to get us ice cream but then was distracted by a jogging blonde wearing nylon.

I wasn't worried too much about the ice cream, but I was regretting not bringing water.

I looked around for my wallet, realising I had left it at home, I whimpered to myself.

I grabbed my things walking over to Hunter, "hey, Hunt?" His eyes grow wide as he stares blankly at me.

I mentally curse myself at the nickname slip up, "I left my purse at home, could I please borrow a few dollars, so I can buy a water?"

"Sure, cupcake," he smirks handing me his whole wallet, I stare at the heavy, offensive object in my hand, frowning.

"Thanks." there was no way I would be able to go through someone else's wallet.

Sighing I sit on the ground under my thigh when I made my way back to my spot under the tree. Impatiently waiting for Hunter to finish his seducing so I could go home and quench my thirst.

Grumbling to myself I slowly start packing all of our things away into my bag taking as much time as possible could, when he's still a no show, I inwardly curse his charm and good looks.

I decided to give him a 'friendly' warning skipping over one again to the pair, "we're going now, or I'm leaving your ass behind, Muffin." Okay, so I threw in the 'Muffin' for 'miss joggers' benefit.

Hunter raises one eyebrow daringly, I send him one of his signature smirks, slamming my shoulder into his, skipping off towards his parked bike.

Laughing he retaliated his smirk; reaching into his pocket feeling for his keys.

The cocky smirk dropped off his face when he was unsuccessful in locating them.

Mine grew as I held them up, dangling them sensually from between my thumb and forefinger.

"Looking for something?" I taunt.

Hunter looked bewildered, whipping between me and the girl, before breaking into a sprint in my direction, letting out a squeal, I began running as fast as my legs and lungs allowed me too.

I was seriously doubting I would make it out of here unscathed, I peeked behind me to ensure that I still maintained my lead.

No! He Was so close.

His eyes held a sparkling mix of mirth and anger, but his lips were very slightly tipped up at the corners.

Coming to a shrieking halt I shoved the icy cool metal down my tank depositing them safely into my bra's lacy cup, just as Hunter's large body slammed into my back forcing me to lose my balance, Hunter's arms wrapped themselves around my waist, twisting our bodies so I landed heavily on his chest.

"Oomph!" Hunter moaned out a laugh.

Giggling I wriggled my body down trying to break his hold on me.

But his hands remained wrapped tightly around me, he began running them slowly up and down my waist and spine, almost like a pat search, but slower, softer.

It took me a moment to realise that he was just feeling for his keys.

"Where are they?"

I flattened my lips hopefully showing him that I had no intention of answering.

But it didn't take long for him to figure it out, his warm gaze glued itself to my chest.

His eyes flicked to mine again for a split second, "get them, or I will." The only scary thing was that he looked serious.
