Chapter 20 - Chapter twenty: Just F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Deciding to open the door was both the easiest and the hardest decision I have ever had to make, everything slowed down from the moment my hand flipped the lock then reached down to touch the doorknob to turn it, it was almost as if I could feel Hunter's hand gripping tightly to the other side.

The door flew open before my eyes, Hunter's hands were on either side of my face, crushing his lips against mine, not allowing me to utter a single word.

His lips were the magic, and I was enchanted.

"I've wanted to do that since you grabbed my arm to stop me from punching Matty." He grinned.

I can't return his smile. "You're my best friend," I start with tears filling my eyes.

"No." He cuts me off pressing his lips back to mine.

When he pulls back to breathe, I whisper. "And I don't want to lose you -".

His lips get rougher. "No, Siran. Stop!"

"So I can't. I'm sorry."

The intensity of our next shared kiss is indescribable.

Our combined taste is salty from my tears and warm form his heat, I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer for a split second.

Before slowly pulling back to look into his eyes.

"I'll see you in class," I mumble through a watery smile.

I leave him standing in my doorway, walking Calmly to my bedroom, straight through to the bathroom locking the door behind me.

I let out a shaky breath falling to my knees letting my body wrenching sobs consume my weakened self.

I didn't leave the bathroom until I was sure Hunter was gone.

Without removing my makeup or Callie's Silk dress I fell into bed exhausted.

Everything hurt waking up the next morning; my eyes were practically swollen shut, my head was pounding and my heart was heavy from all of the grief that I had endured the night before.

I have no desire of going to any of my classes today but unfortunately to keep my scholarship I need to keep my grades up.

I dragged my emotionally drained body towards the shower, cringing at the state I'm in, my hair knotted into a large rats nest, mascara and eyeliner smudged all the way to my chin and Callie's dress crinkled to almost unrecognisable.

My first two lectures went by without any trouble, I was walking to the cafeteria, clutching the straps of my book bag tightly in between my pray positioned hands.

I decided to take a long way, cutting through the courtyard, breathing in the fresh air after three hours in stuffy classrooms.

It was embracing the suns blinding rays on my face, lifting my head up, enjoying its warmth.

I hadn't noticed I had stopped until a high pitched giggle caught my attention, jolting my body back into motion.

I looked around to see where the giggle had come from, then stopped dead in my tracks.

No more than ten feet from where I stood was Hunter, caging a raven-haired beauty to a tree with one hand, devouring her throat, his free hand tracing her thigh, heading up and under her tiny skirt.

A strangled gasp tore from my throat.
