Chapter 20 - Chapter 19: Decisions

The weak demons screeched and grabbed their weapons that lay propped against the logs they once sat on. Arakna watched closely as the demons black wings turned into solid dark silver blades. He rubbed his neck as he walked over. One demon swung his axe, when the demon swiftly stepped aside and grabbed the demons neck, "No hard feelings." The black-haired demon said as he crushed the weak demons neck. He then tossed the twitching body on the floor. Just then a demon stabbed his pike in mid-air toward him, but he was too fast. He leaned in, grabbed the pike, then breaking the wooden handle, thrusted the metal tip straight into the demon's abdomen. The demon screamed in pain, falling over, when another demon sliced its scythe at this stronger demon. The strong demon put his metal wing in front of him. Sparks flew as the demon continued to swing at it, when just then he knelt down and turned. Arakna watched him swing his metal wings, when the then they sliced the scythe wielding demon in half. Silver blood started to overflow out of its body, as he toppled over. The last demon looked scared and decided to start running.

The black-haired looked over watching the demon, "Oh come on!" He shouted, irritated. He grabbed a mace the lay by the fire, returned his wings back to normal, and leapt in the air so that he landed in front of the demon. Without any time wasted, he landed a head blow to the demon. The demon immediately fell to the ground and started to convulse as blood came from its eyes and ears. The demon continued to slam the mace into its head, watching as its head caved in.

"Alright, got to make sure they stay dead, huh?" The demon asked Arakna. Arakna turned away to look around the campground. She had no interest into this affair. She browsed around the make-shift tents to see if there was anything she could use as she could hear the demon bludgeoning the bodies in the background. There wasn't much, but some pieces she could probably sell at the human market. She hadn't been to one, but Ian and Elle had explained a little about the human world. Arakna turned around to see the last demon who'd been stabbed in the abdomen begging for its life. The weak demon was trying to crawl away when the black-haired demon towered over him. Propping his mace against his shoulder, looking as though he'd been debating, he knelt down, "Okay, okay. I can show you a little mercy." He smiled at the demon and winked. In a flash, the weak demons head fell off, as the strong demon used his wings as blades. He threw the mace and wiped his hands on his black clothes, "Sorry! I'm usually more formal. I am Darcian."

Arakna looked at this demon with his hand out and looked away.

"Wow, for a halfbreed you are pretty snarky." He stated putting his hand down.

"Why is a stronger demon playing prisoner with weaker ones?" She asked.

"Ah, you're one to get to the point I see."

Darcian saw Arakna's blades, "Nice. You clearly know someone who can give you those beauties."

Arakna glanced at him and remained silent.

Darcian sighed, "Look it, it's a game I play. I let the demons keep me for awhile, I get to find out some stuff, and after I'm bored I kill them. Happy?"

"Why would you do that?"

Darcian rubbed his neck again, when Arakna noticed he had rubbed his neck multiple times, but it was always over his demon mark.

"Does it have anything to do with that mark?" Arakna asked.

Darcian smiled his devilish smile, "I see that you're interested in me, but I'm a little interested in you."

Arakna walked away, she felt very uninterested in the conversation. She opened her wings and flew up into the air.

"Hey wait!" Darcian yelled, chasing after her.

Arakna kept flying looking around for anything showing a resemblance of home. Darcian flew next to her, "Where are you headed?" He asked, but Arakna still refused to speak to him. All she knew was he was a stranger and a demon at that. Now was not the time to make new friends, especially after what happened to her friends. Arakna paused in mid-air thinking about her warning of Lucifer causing her more suffering. Was this her fate? To suffer? To watch the ones she cared about suffer? Her eyes trailed back up to see Darcian flying in front of her. She grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him in close, studying his face. Darcian put his hands up to show he meant know harm, "Okay, okay. This is getting a little awkward now. I'm not interested, 'like that'. I mean, you're beautiful, stunning, actually, but-"

Arakna shoved Darcian away, shutting him up. Darcian was one of Michael the archangel's subordinates. Arakna looked at Darcian, "I didn't see you much. You are one of Michael's subordinates."

Darcian son's demeanor changed. He was serious now and stern. His eyebrows frowned, "Then that must mean that you are from the seven council."

Darcian lowered slowly back to the ground, pacing back and forth. Arakna flew down with him, listening to Darcian mumble.

"What's going on?" Arakna asked.

Darcian stopped and looked at her concerned, "The battles have been nothing but child's play, but I think real soon...the major war will begin."

Arakna felt her heart sink. The last horrendous war was when Lucifer left with his following angels. The angels in Gods Kingdom fought them to get them out and now here this demon was telling her another war was to start soon. Maybe this is what she will have to choose, she thought. If she chose to fight for her Father, what other choices would she have to make?
