Chapter 25 - Chapter 24: Tormented Souls

Arakna sat down and started to pray. If she was going to get out of this, she needed help. Silence remained until she heard a faint whisper, "Arakna" it called out. She opened her eyes, "I can hear you."

The whisper grew louder, until she heard his voice. When an angel stood next to her. He touched her shoulder, "Sister, I see your heart. I sense your demon within." He knelt down in front of her, his deep blue ocean eyes pierced through her. His shoulder length wavy hair, stay still as he stared. He looked sternly at her, "You are no demon." Arakna felt a tear come down her cheek, "Remiel." Remiel wiped her tear in confusion, "You cry like the humans."

Arakna, "I 'feel' like the humans, but I am not one. I 'feel' like the demons that wish to succumb to their desires, but I am not one. I 'feel' like an angel who wishes to preserve Gods Kingdom, but I am not one. I am a lost halfbreed Remiel."

Remiel studied her face and hugged her gently to Arakna's surprise and whispered in her ear, "I never doubted you."

Arakna looked in confusion, "What do you mean?"

Remiel stood up, reaching out his hand. Arakna grabbed it, getting up, she repeated, "What do you mean?"

Remiel looked at her then away, "Father knew you'd be taken and allowed it. He knew what would happen to you."

"He 'allowed' it? Why would he betray me?"

Remiel nodded, "Betrayed? No, but trusted. The plan laid out was Lucifer's. The counter was Gods, however-" he paused, "you remained part of the plan."

"So I was sacrificed?" Arakna asked angrily.

Remiel stood with his sword and waved it in the air, slicing the image to what revealed a memory of Heaven. Climbing through, he turned to Arakna, "You must come to see for yourself."

"Why are you helping me Remiel?" Arakna asked almost ashamed.

Remiel smiled, "You are always my favorite sister."

Arakna looked at him, Remiel never felt like another angel, never a partner, or a friend. Remiel had always felt like a brother. Even though those titles were never given, he'd always said she was his favorite sister. Arakna nodded and followed after Remiel.

"There are a lot of unsaid things, but unsaid is where they must lay until the time is right." Remiel continued as they walked through his memory.

"A demon entered my mind." Arakna said worriedly.

"No, the demon put you in a deep sleep. It's why I was able to enter when you prayed. You gave me a doorway to reach you." Remiel said as he kept walking.

The world around them moved slowly, so slow it looked like the other angels weren't moving.

"Where are we going?" Arakna asked in front of a giant golden gate.

"A time you were not allowed to enter." Remiel opened his white wings, flying over the gate. Arakna followed him once more.

They landed in front of a beautiful white home, with etched, wooden craftsmanship. Arakna trailed her fingertips along the wood.

"You remember this place?" Remiel asked.

Arakna nodded, "Vaguely, sometimes my memory seems foggy."

Remiel nodded, "Demons try to make you forget the good in order to replace it with foul things." He turned to Arakna.

"I remember you." Arakna said to Remiel.

Remiel smirked and nodded. His wavy white hair bounced as he shook his head. He opened a wooden door that led in a hallway that revealed a heavy silver door remained shut.

"Just in time." He opened the door.

There in the giant library was a tall wooden table in the middle. Arakna could tell papers were scattered as if a meeting was being held in place. Around the table stood Father, Remiel, Gabriel, Michael, Jophiel, and Phanuel.

"What's going on?" Arakna asked.

Father turned toward her direction, as if He'd known she'd see this memory in the future. Father looked at all of them as if saying something without speaking. Michael nodded, his short white hair at ears-length, slightly falling in front of his eyes. He looked stern as always then stated, "I trust you Father and will do as commanded." Michael's six wings were tucked firmly against his body.

"What about Uriel?" Phanuel asked.

"He mustn't know." Jophiel replied.

Phanuel looked at the table in deep thought.

Remiel looked at them, "She's our sister. How can I-"

Michael looked at Remiel, Remiel looked down.

Father nodded, "I understand. As your Father it is hard for me to make such decisions. As you know, Lucifer will go at great lengths to destroy everything that has been created, simply to smite me. Everything I've created is now meant for his destruction, that includes all of you. He will capture her, corrupt her, hurt her in ways you do not understand. She will suffer and we will know, but all will not be in vain."

"She must choose wisely or it will." Jophiel responded.

Father nodded, "If she sees this, she is on the right path." They all looked up and faced Arakna.

Arakna took a step back, "This is a memory?" Arakna turned to the Remiel she followed.

"Yes, but all knew you'd be standing there." Remiel responded.

Just then everything went black.

"Can't you get me out of here? Can't you wake me up?" Arakna asked.

"Arakna, you never needed me to get you out. You just needed reminding."

Arakna could see light behind her eyelids. She laid down, without moving. She knew she was awake and alert, but that demon must still be near.

She could hear Darcian screaming, "Adanya! Adanya!" He kept whimpering and sobbing. Whatever happened, he was reliving is suffering for sure. She couldn't hear Micaleb, but her thoughts turned to sensing the demon.

Found you, she thought. She jumped up into the air, immediately slamming the demon into the ground. The green-eyed demon looked frightened and surprised. Arakna's eyes started to turn red as she started to crush the demons neck.

He struggled to speak, "I see....you're awake."

Arakna growled, "You found my fear of loneliness-" Arakna started to squeeze harder as the demon kicked from under her, using both hands to pry her hands off of him. "-but I forgot. I was never alone!"

The demons eyes started to glow as he tried harder. Suddenly Arakna's vision went black. Arakna stood up, grabbing her sword, she sliced the darkness. It ripped open as if she'd cut through a painted canvas, "Not this time!" She screamed in her demonic voice.

Stepping through, she was alert once more. She looked into the sky, watching as the demon was flying away.

"Let him go." A voice whispered, "Your friends."

She glanced down, to see Micaleb curled up in a ball. His small hands covered his ears, his eyes squeezed shut, as he was rocking himself back and forth. Arakna ran to him, shaking him vigorously, "Micaleb! Wake up!" She grabbed both shoulders and shook him more aggressively, "Wake up! Micaleb! Micaleb!"

Micaleb opened his eyes, blinking slowly. Arakna left him, now running to Darcian. Arakna grabbed Darcian, hugging him tightly, "Darcian, wake up! Wake up please!" Darcian continued to sob, repeating Adanya's name. "Darcian....I'm so sorry." Arakna said as she patted his back and closed her eyes, "Darcian, please wake up." She pleaded as she lay her head on his shoulder.

"Arakna?" Darcian asked confused.

Arakna pulled back and clasped his face within her hands, "Darcian." She said, looking at his silver eyes.

Darcian looked at Arakna's multi-colored eyes, her purplish-silver hair seemed so heavenly, he couldn't help but feel so relieved to see her. At the same time his grief felt so heavy, he placed his face into her heavenly hair and continued to weep.

Arakna stroked her fingers in Darcian's short black hair as Micaleb sat down and provided a protective shield around them. Micaleb looked on as tears fell down his full round cheeks. He could sense the demons tormented soul. Somehow and for some reason, Micaleb pitied him.
