Chapter 22 - Chapter 21: Parting Ways

Arakna walked in to see Elle sitting at the table. Razo looked at Arakna angrily, "You're going to leave again, aren't you?"

Arakna sighed, "I can't stay put."

Ian grabbed Razo's pants and looked up, "You're going to stay, right Razo?"

Razo looked down and patted his head, then messing up his blonde hair, replied, "Yes little lamb."

Arakna looked out the window, seeing it was going to be evening soon, "I know you came to keep an eye on me."

Razo remained silent.

"Why didn't you tell me the truth?" Arakna asked turning her head to face Razo, who now sat next to Elle.

"Because I didn't understand why my previous master asked to keep an eye out. I never even got his name, until I saw him that day."

"His name is Lucias. He was a previous friend." Arakna paused, "What did you two do?"

Razo looked down at the table.

Arakna slammed her fist on the table, making Elle jump. Razo wrapped his arm around Elle's shoulder, calming her as he hummed to her. Arakna looked in confusion, "Are you starting to care for these humans?"

"Aren't you?" He sneered back.

Ian was a little nervous and felt like he'd get in trouble if he said anything. Sinking in his chair was the best option.

Arakna stood up, "I've never had the luxury of caring for a few."

Razo stood up, "And I'm selfish?"

"I don't expect someone who hates God, angels, halfbreeds, or demons to understand me."

"Why do you think I hate all of them in the first place!" Razo's eyes gleamed gold.

Arakna turned and walked out.

Razo sighed and looked down at Ian, "You okay little lamb?"

Ian nodded sadly.

"It's okay to be mad or sad, Ian." Razo replied.

Ian sat up straight, "You called me by my name."

"I did."

Ian leaned in and hugged Razo.

Darcian watched Arakna walk out, spread her silver black-tipped wings, and fly off. Darcian waited for a moment, when he heard the boy and the other demon speaking. Standing up, he leaned forward to see Razo being hugged by the little boy. Darcian smiled and silently walked away, spread his black wings, and flew after Arakna.

Arakna flew, flying down to the edge of a cliff. The wind blew her silver-purplish hair forward, her legs dangling. She looked down at the darkness below.

She could sense Darcian flying toward her direction. Sighing, she slipped off the cliff, letting herself fall into the darkness below, when then she opened her wings to help land softly. She laid in the darkness, facing up at the stars. Just then she saw a pair of black wings cover the stars. It was Darcian with his black clothes wrapped around him, as his short black hair whipped in the wind. His silver eyes gleamed and faced directly at Arakna, when he darted down, landing softly next to her. Laying down next to her, both were engulfed in the darkness.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Why?" She asked.

Darcian seemed hesitant, "Being captured to get intel wasn't very fun. In fact, I watched a lot of humans get tortured, all for the sake of getting more information."

Darcian then sighed, "Was I even an angel then if I didn't even protect the weak?"

"We all have our place." Arakna answered.

Darcian nodded, "Yes. So then what's your place now that you are no longer in the seven councils?"

Arakna thought for a moment, "I don't know, but I feel deep down there's a plan."

Darcian smirked, "I was hoping you'd say that."

"Why?"

"Like I said, I was gathering intel."

"What does this have to do with me?"

"Let's just say some demons talk a lot. I heard of that demon Borak, never fought him in a battle, but heard he was part of the demons 13th council. I also heard he was the weakest demon of the 13."

Arakna was very concerned. If he was the weakest, she shuddered at the thought.

"I didn't fight a lot in major battles. My tactic was stealth."

"You're in luck then. I'm Michael's top subordinate. Well, I mean I 'was'." He said chuckling to himself.

"Your personality seems unsuitable to be next to Michael."

"Why? Is it my charming smile? My laughter? Or my lack of allowing the responsibility push down on my shoulders."

Arakna did a slight smile.

"You 'can' smile." Darcian teased.

"I suppose I can. Although, everything seems....." Arakna paused.

"Everything seems unfamiliar?" Darcian completed.

Arakna nodded.

Darcian stared at the stars, Adanya started coming to mind when he shook his head.

"'You' okay?" Arakna asked teasingly.

Darcian hesitated, "Just someone I want to forget. Something I want to forget."

"Must be your partner then." Arakna said with confidence.

Arakna could sense his reluctance, "You don't have to speak about her. I understand."

Darcian closed his eyes and had a broken voice, "It's okay. I just have never spoken her name since her death."

He rubbed his neck over his demon mark once more.

"Is your partner alive?" Darcian asked.

Arakna nodded, "Yes, but I can sense he keeps an eye on me. I just act like he isn't there."

"Why do you deliberately ignore him?"

"Because I don't want him to become tainted."

Darcian nodded, "Do you think he finds you worth losing God's Kingdom?"

"Why would anyone do that?"

Darcian stared at her for a moment, "What was your drive as an angel?"

Arakna shrugged, "No idea."

"God chose you to be on the council for a reason."

"Whatever the reason, it matters no more."

Darcian nodded, "Whatever the reason may be, I think it's part of why He chose you and why Lucifer needs you."

Arakna and Darcian locked eyes. Arakna could sense that Arakna and Darcian were like two flames that created something intensive.

"What is it that you're planning?"

Arakna asked.

"Not planning, but want to find out." Darcian replied.

"What would that be?"

"What Lucifer needs you for. Problem is, we need to get to the Tree of Life."

"That's a war zone now." Arakna replied concerned.

"It's a long way, it's very dangerous, but with your stealth and my experience of fighting-we might survive." Darcian starting laughing.

Arakna nodded and sighed, "Fine, then we leave tonight."

Darcian nodded, "You plan on saying goodbye?"

Arakna shook her head and leapt into the air. Darcian watched as she shot up in the air. How can she fight her heart this much he wondered, following right after her.
