"How can anything taste so bad."
I didn't roast it or anything, but I still thought that it couldn't possibly taste as horrible as it does. But still I had to eat something and I'm planning to stay in the cave for a longer time, so it would be good to get used to it as quickly as possible.
After I finished eating as much as I could stand of the flesh I stood up and walked down the corridor in the direction away from the place I killed the goblin. While walking I tried to think about other things to get rid of the disgust I felt from the flesh, so I quickly resumed my special kind of training. To actually see results I would need to stay here for much longer and I am sure that I'm going to get hurt in the process, but as long as they don't sneak up on me completely undetected I should be able to handle one of them at a time.
I saw a light and noticed that it was the entrance. It felt really bright and I tried to not look into it, after all my eyes already got used to the darkness. I waited for a few seconds, but when I didn't hear anyone walking to the entrance of the cave I quickly ran out of the corridor I first entered into another one on the right side of the entrance of the cave. I walked slowly and tried to use all of my senses to hear any possible enemies coming into my direction, but I wasn't able to hear anyone. I walked until I arrived at a corner and then waited for a few minutes. I was thinking about the best possible strategy to move in the corridors. There has to be a place, where the majority of the goblins sleep, so I should absolutely avoid going into there. It would probably be deep into the cave, so if I don't walk for too long then I should be safe. There should also be a main hall, where the goblin leader resides and all of the goblins meet up, before going on a hunt. Walking around these corridors and waiting on the corners is probably the best way to move around. It would be easy to get killed by the goblins if they were a bit smarter, but most goblins would probably shout something of make loud noises before attacking me, so even if they see me they shouldn't try to kill me from behind, after all goblins are normally really stupid, so they shouldn't do anything like trying to assassinate me. But still if I can't see them and only hear them it's going to be hard to fight them in a fair fight and I would probably get hurt by them, before I would be able to kill them.
But I have one way to fight until I get used to this darkness surrounding me. I can try to do the exact thing the goblins should be doing. The darkness is my enemy, but if there is one way to kill the goblins easily it would probably be to kill them, before they see me. Assassinating these goblins should normally be really easy, but in here it's a lot harder, after all I can't see my target, but this could actually be a really effective training method. If you want to assassinate someone the most important thing is that your target doesn't notice you, so you have to be able to be really stealthy, so you need to learn to basically erase your presence, you should walk without making a sound, you should smell like you surroundings, you should be able to move without impacting anything around you. And to survive in here I have to use this tactic otherwise I'm bound to die by the hand of some goblin. In a situation, where your survival is on the line, your body tries to make you survive with any possible means. Adrenaline is one of these factors and in my case, with a body that I do not know the limits of, I should be able to gradually sharpen my senses.
So over the next few days I was killing goblins with this exact method and my senses really got sharper, I didn't really notice it, because it was only a slow improvement, but as long as you have the ability to improve the time needed for improvement is only secondary. I could here the normal steps of a goblin that was on the other and of the corridor, I could feel the vibrations of their footsteps when I really concentrate on it and I am able to notice their smell stronger and further away if I concentrate on it. So far everything went good and I was only hurt twice, the first wound was caused by the sharp fingernails of a goblin trying to scratch out my eyes, which I was luckily able to avoid and they only hurt my right cheek and the second time was a wound I got from the sword strike of a goblin who seemed to just come back from a hunt and, because I missed him by a bit attacking from behind he swung his sword at me, but luckily my instincts let me pull back my sword in front of my body to block his strike and redirect it to only graze my left arm, then I was able to follow his sword strike and in two strike cut his arm off and then stab into his chest hitting his heart. The would on my left arm is by far worse than the one on my cheek, but I don't use my left arm for fighting with the sword, so it didn't really matter too much, when fighting.
But now it was my first time hearing multiple footsteps, I couldn't exactly say how many it was, but it was at least two probably three. I tried to quietly find a way out, but behind me there was a dead end, so in a few seconds they would come around the corner and would definitely see me.
