Chapter 26 - The goblin killer

I had to quickly think of something, before they would see me. In a situation against multiple goblins it can either be only a bit difficult, but it could very well also result in my death. It all depends on if they have weapons and if they get other goblins to come here. I quickly made a decision and tried to run in their direction as fast and quietly as possible. I had to kill them, before they would be able to run away, that's what I thought and what would also be the most rational thing. I could hear their footsteps and smell them stronger the closer I got to the corner. Wait a second, I might have a plan. I suddenly got an idea that could save me. While running I quickly picked up a stone from the ground and then proceeded to reach the corner. I could hear the goblins breathing, that's how near they were at that moment. I tightly grabbed the stone in my hand and threw it over the goblins heads right at the ceiling behind them. It wasn't very loud, but it seemed as if they all turned around. I could hear one of them pulling out a sword and in that moment I had to quickly kill them. There's a high possibility that they only turned around, because of the current situation in this cave. By murdering all of these goblins over the past few days I surely got their intention and although I tried to hide most of the corpses I still couldn't hide the blood and they would also notice if dozens of goblins were to disappear in a matter of a few days. So everyone should be wary of me and maybe these goblins were ordered to search for me, so my plan worked.

Now I quickly turned around the corner and took my sword swinging it with a huge radius. I tried to aim for their upper body and I managed to slice one of the heads quickly off of their bodies. For the next one I felt like I only cut off one of the arms. So I tried to readjust my movement, pulled my sword away from his body and then proceeded to slice off his head. The last one had to have turned back around by now, so I quickly jumped back trying to simultaneously block an incoming attack with my sword. I was right and the last one attacked me, but he still managed to cut my right leg with his spear. He couldn't have hit me with a sword from the distance between me and him, so I assumed he had a spear as a weapon.

"Ke thener jaros foer-"

He shouted something out and from my senses I could hear and feel that he was backing up from me. So although I didn't exactly know, where he was I Jumped at him directing myself to the left and I swung my sword to where I suspected his spear to be. I was able to hit his spear and easily cut off the front part of the spear with the only dangerous part.

"Ka?!"

From the place of his spear I could tell almost exactly, where his arm had to be and proceeded to cut off his left arm with which he just attacked me. He let out a painful cry, but before he was able to say anything else I stabbed my sword to the place I thought his head would be and cleanly stabbed through it. I quickly pulled my sword back out of his head and could hear the blood flowing out of the corpses all around me.

Although the fight only lasted for a few seconds and you could hardly even call it a fight I was still tired out from it, especially the pressure from before the fight made me really anxious. I don't know if anyone is close to to us right now, but I have to leave quickly, because they will probably find the corpses soon and maybe the last goblin was able to successfully call for help before dying. Then I began to run into the only direction I could safely go. After running for a long time and after having to stop, because I heard someone near me multiple times I finally reached a place that looked relatively safe. It was a corridor that was really short and in front and behind me there were two different ways in both directions, so I should be able to easily flee if I heard someone. I tried to calm down and think about my next steps rationally. My senses did already get a lot sharper over these past few days, so now I am sure that if I stayed here it would be beneficial for me. But the problem is that the goblins I am hunting are slowly becoming aware of my presence and all of the goblins I killed, so they will probably send more squads like the one I encountered a few minutes ago. Well I can't be too sure, I mean maybe they just came back from hunting and were trying to get to their sleeping places, but I can only assume the worst possibility right now, which would be them sending out more squads with their best fighters to hunt me down. It won't get better the longer I stay here and the more goblins I kill, but I have to kill them to eat and combat experience, while sharpening my senses is also one of the best training methods, so I wouldn't like to stop doing what I am doing right now. I am getting more an more used to the darkness and in a few weeks, maybe months I would be able to combine all of my senses and subconsciously be able to hear enemies from hundred's of meters away.

But besides that, why do I feel like I would loose out on something if I went out of this cave right now. I feel like something unnatural but also somehow beneficial is happening with me and although I can't tell what exactly trusting my instincts is one of the best decisions in situations like these and as long as there isn't any really strong goblin or other superior race in this cave I should be safe.
