Chapter 11 - Carnation 09

Third Person

Paris, France: 4th Street Cemetery

"Do you really have to taste his blood?" asked Nightmare while staring at the brown-haired boy beside him.

"I taste the blood of my victims before they go. It's a habit!" Blood Shed cheerfully said. "His blood tastes bland. Need more seasoning..."

"I'm like the normal dude from this group" Nightmare sighed as watched the boy lick the remaining smudge of blood on his fingers.

They were like walking through a cave; it was the darkest part of the cemetery anyway. And just a little light produced by the flashlight owned by Phoenix is guiding them.

Phoenix left before they could kill the man, saying that he has something to do.

The two young men tried their best no to step on the other graves even though it was futile, considering that the knee-high grass blocks most of their ground view.

1 grave...

2 graves...

3 grave-

Something snapped.

Blood Shed looked ahead and squinted his eyes before touching his companion on the shoulder to make him stop walking.

"Wait a minute," he asked. "Did you hear that?"

"Hear what? You. Sucking on your fingers?" Nightmare snickered.

"No!" whisper-shouted Blood Shed before turning off the flashlight.

Nightmare put on his serious face as he saw Blood Shed's face shift from a man child to an alpha male. The boy looked around and saw a figure walking towards the back entrance of the Cemetery.

Not frightening by the sudden appearance of the figure, Nightmare pointed it to his companion. The figure is not that far from them but not close enough to hear them speaking to each other.

The said figure turned on a light from a device which they assumed was a cell phone. Both of them can now clearly see the pale face of a young beautiful girl, looking around.

"Hey..." said Nightmare. "Isn't that Aksenov bitch?"

Blood Shed squinted his eyes to adjust them to the sight of the walking figure before smiling. He can recognize that timid walking brunette everywhere.

"Yeah, that is she..." Blood Shed confirmed and regained his straight posture. "What is she doing here?"

They watched as she walked down the same path back to the farthest spot in the cemetery. Both of the boys looked at each other, obviously thinking of the same action to execute.

"Normal people would follow her" Nightmare wriggled his eyebrow.

"I guess so-"Blood Shed smiled- "but we're not normal" soon turned into a frown.

Nightmare scratched his head before looking up to the sky, letting the tardiness and exhaustion from the mission take over him.

"Agreed besides I'm too hungry to follow the chic" Nightmare nodded.

"Let's just go..." Blood Shed let the other male lead the way. "A glass of blood is no match to a big mass of meat at the McDonald's"

They opened the flashlight again and began walking in the other direction. Blood Shed stopped for a moment and turned to look back at the fading light from the disappearing figure of the girl before grinning to himself.

"What secrets do you hide, little girl?"

Paris, France: Heinz Manor

Phoenix looked up to the manor looming over him and smiled. The gate automatically opened when he was one step away from it, he set foot in the palace of the King of War without any plan of protecting himself.

A young man in a butler suit slightly bowed before beckoning the lad to follow him. The butler did not utter any words and just led him to a dark passage behind the properly groomed bushes.

The hallway is made of bricks making it look like a real castle, the cracks are seeping with an unknown liquid and the smell of familiar iron reigned over the atmosphere. Chains are dangling from the ceiling with some remaining skulls and bones of people.

Moments later, a horde of men carrying wheelbarrows came passing alongside them. Phoenix stopped and stared at the content of the wheelbarrows.

The cloth covering the top of the wheelbarrows were wet and well covered with a red substance.

"SHIT!"

Phoenix's suspicions were confirmed when a man tripped over the uneven flooring and spilled the filling of his wheelbarrow.

"Please help him out. Someone could slip here" the butler ordered and women wearing rags came, they started picking up the dismantled parts and organs of people on the floor before putting it back to the wheelbarrow.

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience..." The butler apologized, "The General made his training a little longer than usual"

Blood.

Brains.

Feces.

Vomit, and;

Glossy eyeballs of adults and children flooded the floor.

It was a bloodfest.

Only a monster could have done this. The stench made a woman vomit on the carcasses and it made the young lad look away from the scene.

"Excuse me Sir..." he felt one woman tug his pants. Looking down, he felt something squishy underneath him. The blood pooled beneath his feet, staining his pants with the unwanted liquid.

An intestine spurting out stomach acid...

He carefully lifted his feet as the woman picked it up before smiling and thanking him for his action. His eyes caught another scene that made him stiff; one woman dug in the mass of corpse and lifted a decapitated head of a little boy.

"My baby..." the woman rejoiced and hugged the head as if it was still alive.

Phoenix couldn't take his eyes off the face of the lifeless child and the mourning mother in front of him.

"Sir." the butler called out, "The general doesn't like waiting"

He nodded and hesitantly looked away from the weeping woman before following the young man leading him through the wide hallway.

An arc opening was seen ahead and the butler let Phoenix walk on his own through the opening.

Phoenix was welcomed by a fairly lit room embellished by weapons on the wall up to the ceiling. The room was painted red and it smelled like hell itself. He wasn't sure what tortures happened inside the room.

But Phoenix is sure of one thing...

The red paint is not a normal stationary paint...

"General Dèmise."

There is no turning back, he finally spoke his name. He finally heard him say his name.

"Phoenix."

A well-built man wearing only a black robe faced him, holding a glass of wine. Well at least, Phoenix made himself believe that the content of that glass is wine. The man in his late 40's looked young compared to his real age and his silver-colored hair matches that of Saccharide.

"How's my son's buddy?!" the general cheerfully greeted him, indicating that he is already drunk. He handed him a glass of wine. "Sorry, it's a mess! The party just ended."

They sat at a wooden table before Phoenix tasted the wine. Surprisingly, it was good. A unique taste conquered his taste buds.

It was wine, right?

"I came to report your son, General," Phoenix politely declared.

"My son?!- which one?!" the general made a thinking position before giggling.

"My son... My son...-

A childish attitude is not expected from a War king. Especially from General Dèmise Heinz.

Phoenix wished that he had come when the General is not drunk and in a serious mood. Even though, it might not be the best idea because the man is sick in the head and may end his life without any reason.

His name explains it all...

Demise means Death.

- AH! THE HANDSOME ONE?" the general exclaimed before clapping loudly like a child. "What about my little demise?"

"I will show you the problem, Sir" Phoenix grinned and took out his phone.

He was about to show the War King his presentation when a woman entered the room, wearing a flamboyant nightgown. The woman with her silky brown hair approached the drunk male and hugged him from behind.

Lavender Heinz.

The woman who made loving a devil possible.

Saccharide's mother.

"Demi... Let's rest" Lavender's voice screamed gentleness at its peak.

"Oh fuck me, Lavender!" the general's eyes lit up when he saw his wife, looking so young in her nightwear, "You look ravishing"

"Phoenix?" the woman exclaimed excitedly, still hugging his husband while the male sniffed the scent out of her neck. "What a surprise!"

"I'm sorry, honey but we need to talk about- what's his name again?" the drunk male asked before looking at Phoenix.

"Sacc-"

"SACCHARIDE. Of course, our son." General Dèmise laughed before kissing his wife on the lips. "Make me remember, why did I let you name him again?"

"Why?" Lavender's panic started. "What happened to him?"

"Ma'am-" Phoenix tried talking but stopped when General Dèmise stood up and hugged his wife, gently.

Mouth slightly opened and eyes widened, Phoenix was shocked seeing the gentle side of the Monster because of his wife.

It's sickening. This is the same problem with Saccharide.

A girl is turning him weak. And Phoenix is sure that the General doesn't want that happening with his descendant.

"I'll tell you later in bed" General Demise whispered, leaving a kiss on his wife's forehead. "Calm down. He's our little demise, he's fine. It's probably just a cockroach running around his toilet"

"Really? Demi..." the woman smiled warmly before caressing the cheeks of his husband. "I love you..."

"Now... Go to bed" he commanded and let his wife exit the room.

The sound of the door closing sent the General in a regained posture. His face darkened when he tossed the black robe aside, revealing a blood-covered camouflage suit.

"So..." he turned to Phoenix.

The smiling face of the lad straightened when he sat again on his chair. Finally feeling the seriousness he's longing for, Phoenix smiled and gave the General a microchip.

"Let's see... What problem is it?"
