Kayle and Ryu both finally reached the island, and as predicted by Ryu a few workers were transporting rocks, sculptures under the supervision of a slightly round merchant with a black mustache.
The merchants seemed to have a total of three medium-sized boats, with around a total of ten workers transporting the differents merchandise into the boats.
Old Ryu didn't seem to want to stay long, he seemed to despise these merchants as he kept calling them scavenger, Kayle could only nod as he could understand the frustration one would feel if their home was ransacked and sold bit by bit not sparring even the rocks.
After Ryu finally left, Kayle went to introduce himself to the merchants, as he got a little closer a found that there were already two ninjas looking alert towards his direction, and looking closer he could see that they both had a headband of Kirigakure.
Kayle got close enough as he pointed towards his headband and showing his leaf collar as he finally said.
Kayle: "Hello, I'm a genin from Konoha, and I'm part of the roaming squad, I saw that you posted a mission assignment asking for potential reinforcement to secure your merchandise back to Kirigakure"
The leader being experienced politely nodded and welcomed Kayle, it could be seen in his eyes that he was slightly worried that kayle was only a genin but he made his best to not let it show it.
Akio: "Hello I'm Akio, I'm in charge of this operation"
Akio then proceeded to present his two co-workers first, then he explained that they already had an escort since they came from Kirigakure, he also explained that they had a fight with a group of water bandits but successfully pushed them back, out of caution he decided to post this mission to see if anyone would join.
The escort they had was constituted of one chunin and one genin, the chunin looked slightly arrogant while the genin seemed to be wary but friendly.
Sugai Yuu: "Hi, I'm Sugai Yuu, I'm a chunin from Kiri, as I'm the one with the highest rank I will be in the lead of this protected, you better follow my orders"
Kayle didn't like the way he was talked to, if Sugai had talked to any ordinary genin he may have successfully taken the lead to avoid unnecessary conflict, but Kayle was confident about his strength and has no reason to back off.
Kayle: "Last I remember I'm still a Ninja from Konoha, I have no orders to receive from someone not wearing a Konoha headband, all you will get is cooperation, I will be the one deciding of my actions"
Sugai Yuu seemed surprised not expecting to be talked back to, he advanced angrily as he wanted to pressure Kayle and have him submit to him, luckily for him, Miyake Kyo the genin that teamed with him interfered and convinced him to not cause a scene.
Sugai Yuu: "If that's how you want it to happen then don't expect any help from me as I will not be saving your ass"
After this brief exchange, both Kayle and the ninjas from Kiri went their separate way while waiting for the boats to be completely loaded, as it seems that there were still a few hours to wait Kayle toured the island to pass time.
He was very surprised as he saw the significant amount of damage that the village had received, especially since the remains had a very modern feeling to them, it seemed that there was a high chance that the Land of Whirlpools was almost more advanced than Konoha, at least in the architectural aspect as there was still quite a few multi-story building that could be identified in the midst of all the remains.
Kayle also wondered what kind of power made this kind of damage, as he estimated that to make this much damages it required at least two or three Kage level ninjas, or someone of the same level as pain.
After a few more hours exploring, and without finding anything interesting Kayle went back towards the boats as they seemed to have almost completed the loading.
