Chapter 29 - Idea rejected

"We have to move out of here." Nathan announces between his deep breaths. He looks so red and tired. Something terrible must have happened. Oh my God, maybe he saw me and Dylan. He must be pissed at me for that. Why does he tell me this stuff when he knows I can't oblige him.

"Okay," I gulp, "I'm sorry," I bow my head. He remains silent. I look up to see confused expressions on his face.

"What? Why?" he looks at me with confusion and I realise he is not angry with me, he's angry for some other reason.

"B-because..." I fail to find words to cover up.

"What did you do April?" he curls his palm into a fist.

"I walked home with Dylan. I know you told me stay away from him but I can't okay? There is too much history there." I say bluntly.

"You know April," he pulls me closer to him. Oh God, he's scary, but he's not drunk. "I'm not even angry with you now. Do you know why?" his fingers run through my hair, "Do you?!" I shake my head no. "Because it's waste of my time as well as energy." I let out a deep sigh and close my eyes.

"We are moving out." he simply orders and calls Mary to clean the glass. Surprised by his actions I sit on the bed beside him ready to shower him with my questions. But as soon as I'm about to begin he gets up and leaves the room. What the hell is wrong with him?

"April! Nathan! Dinner ready!" Anna hollers from downstairs.

"We are moving out, mom." Nathan announces during the dinner. All eyes are now on him and me. I shrug indicating I have no idea what is going on.

"What? Why?" His mom asks.

"Mom, I'm old enough to live on my own, aren't I? I thought you knew that considering the fact you thought I was old enough to get married!" he says bitterly. Anna sighs, "Anyways mom I am sick of this everyday drama. You guys have to give me some space."

"You are not moving out. Not until this chaos is settled." Robin spoke up.

"What? Now I can't move out with my wife? I am not leaving her, nothing will be weird."

"Nathan, it's not a bad idea but think it through." Vannesa chirped, "What do you want, April?"

"I don't know," I say, honestly. I have suddenly lost my appetite. Why is Nathan behaving so different? What could have possibly happened?

"I'll be in my room," I leave the family to their discussion and sit in my room. Nathan does waste his time and energy scolding me all the time. But I don't get why we have to hide everything from the media. The door opens and he comes in running his fingers through his hair.

"Why do you want to move out? It's not like you want to spend some quality time with me." I ask as he sits on the bed.

"Like I said, I want my personal space okay? In the new house you can have your own room and I can have mine. You'll have a separate section for your items and everything. And there I live my life in my style."

His life in his style. What's that even supposed to mean? He's going to bring girls in? Like a bachelor? The thought scares me. He is going to pretend to be the best husband ever outside but inside he'll be just a stranger. I will be left on my own, I'll have nobody to even talk to.

"No," I say immediately, "I'll not move out. You can go and live your life your own style but I am not moving out. No way." I shake my head in no a multiple times. "I'm not going to let you torture me like this!"

"Hey, hey." he moves closer to me holding my shoulders, "Alright, alright! We won't move out. Calm down." he says. His fingers pulls my chin up so that I can see him, "I get it. You have familiar people here. You are comfortable with my family. Plus, you have great bonding with my sister... It is hard for you to live with a complete stranger." his words are so comforting, his gaze caring, his touch soft. This Nathan makes me crazy.

"So we are not moving out?" I ask.

"Hmm... We are not." his fingers travel down my throat, making every cell in me alive. My eyes close but I open them again. I can't get lost in one touch.

"So, Dylan. How come I never heard about him?" he brings me back to reality.

"He and I broke up when he went to England." I start and he shifts sitting right beside me, "Can I ask you something?"

"Hmm."

"What's changing you so much?"

"I haven't changed, Grey. I just like your fat tummy." he pokes my stomach making me jump.

"Nathan!" I scold him, "I am not FAT!" I say pouting my lips.

He smiles and gets up to use the restroom. I stand in front of the mirror and lift my top to see if my tummy is really fat. No I don't think so.

"I was just joking, Grey." Nathan surprises me. I gasp as his hands snake around my bare waist and rest his chin on my shoulder. I should move away right? We shouldn't be standing this close...right? His smell fills my nostrils and I forget everything for a second. No, no. I lower my top causing him to remove his hands.

"Your tummy is fine." he chuckles and his eyes meets mine in the mirror. His hands are not on my body but for some reason I want them back. I couldn't help but stare at his face.

"You are..." I shut my mouth as soon as I realise I was going to say he is very handsome. I shouldn't be complimenting him after he joked about me being fat.

"Yeah?" he raises his eyebrows, "Why so lost in thoughts?"

"I was thinking about Dylan." I say. Seconds pass by as he looks at me with unreadable expressions.

"Okay then." he says and moves away from me, "I should get going. I want you to re-think about moving out. You might be away from Venessa but you will have a lot more freedom as I won't be around much." he says in a plain tone and moves out. Why do I feel a little saddness in his voice? I chuckle at the thought of Nathan being jealous at the mention of Dylan. But, that's not possible, right? Because that would mean he has feelings for me, I laugh again at the thought, that would be so messed up.

Oh, I forgot to ask him what happened. Why did he want to move out? Only one person can answer this question... The great Venessa Walsh. I knock at her door, opens in a minute. She is on the phone with Ethan so I wait till she gets off the phone.

"What's up?" she asks, hanging up.

"What happened to Nathan? Why does he wants to move out?"

"He's just being childish. I don't know what exactly happened but mom told me she scolded with him for behaving improperly with you all the time. Then Robin told him about a party that he will be hosting to introduce you...like on a grand scale. He just got frustrated after that and decided he wanted his own place." she shrugs. I stare at the wall.

"Was he always like this?" I ask. Her eyes are sad, I have got my answer. It's all because of me. I'm changing him. He was a nice happy person before me and marrying me took everything away. Now, he is even distancing himself from his family. Why is this so unfair to us? Even I have to give up my family. I know I did this to save my parents from bankruptcy or whatever Robin would have done to finish them, but I am deeply regretting this decision.

That's it! I have to set both of free. There should be a way out of this stupid marriage. I have to concern a lawyer. A lawyer is the only person who can get me out of this thing without any controversies.

"Hey?" Venessa snaps her fingers and I come out of my thoughts, "Where are you lost?" I shake my head and turn my attention back to her, "So I heard your ex boyfriend called Nathan your driver?" she says, laughing.

"Yes!" I join her, "Dylan, he is back in the town."

"Ethan told me. So...tell me about him." she forces.

"Dude! You are my husband's sister. Have some shame!"

"No, right now I'm your bestie. Come on now vomit out your feelings. I wanna know everything...how you met...why you broke up etc etc."

"Well, Dylan Scott was my senior in Stanford. I met him in the fresher's party. He was the sweetest and the most handsome boy present there, in simple language way out of my league. Yet, he asked me out and I couldn't help but say yes. In the years we were together total five he was the best boyfriend I could imagine. His sweet gestures made me feel so special and alive. We were perfect together. But all good things eventually end, he had to go to England due to some family issues and I don't believe in long distance relationships so we broke up."

"Wow! It's a perfect fairy tale!" she exclaims, "Do you still love him?"

"No, I mean I don't know." I shrug.

"Okay... I should warn you April. You should stay away from this guy because if media smells something fishy then they will eat you and Nathan up. The issue of a girl dropping Nathan to the hotel was covered up but if they come to know you are hanging out with your ex boyfriend, the situation can get out of control. Even I and Ethan are very careful. So please take care okay? If anything goes wrong Nathan will flip out."

"Yeah, I understand." I sigh, "Sometimes I wish I could go back to being a nobody...the person media doesn't care about."

"Believe me, everyone does babe. But you can't go back now. You are Mrs Nathan Walsh. The more you run from it the more media will rub it in your face."

"Unless..." I trial off thinking whether I should discuss the idea with her or not.

"Don't even think of divorce!" she cuts me off, "Remember the two businesses are staked on your marriage!" she scolds me.

I know she's right but I am not boycotting this idea without seeking advice from a lawyer. I return to my room and fall sleep thinking what will happen when Nathan will know I am doing a play with Dylan. And yes I'm doing the play with Dylan not because he is in it but because I do want to play Snow White (pouts)...
